Yup, that's the era. Only third baseman to win back to back MVP's! Greg Lusinski was another lesser known great from those teams. And who can forget: "Water covers two thirds of the earth...Garry Maddox covers the rest!"

I was just telling my boys the same thing. Granted a lot of these guys are playing for their next contract, but they also haven't given up on the manager. Since I'm not a fan of Mickeys Clubhouse I'm not sure where I stand on that. But since I sense we are stuck with him for another year I guess it's a good thing. BTW, the powder blue Phillies unis bring back memories....although I thought those were road colors.

Yankee fans were at their worst after their run of success around the turn of the century when their mantra was "Any season that doesn't end in a Word Series championship is a failure".

The Woman’s Guide To Changing A Tire
SinceThe70s replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I haven't changed a tire in ages. Since forever I've kept an inflator in my car. Every nail I've had only ever resulted in a slow leak. Every few years the inflator saves me, including a month ago. -
Best version I've heard of this:

Bottom 9, two outs, Cubs hit a walk off grand slam to win 4-3. I did this a ton of times growing up except it was a 3-2 count and in the world series.

Kyle throws punches at Jordan Mills

Thanks for the story. That's a mic drop post IMO. -
Now that you mention it, I do remember the name Sean Kimmerling, but I honestly didn't remember his story. It's a testament to Sean that you brought up his memory 15 years later. VERY cool. RIP Sean. On a Reyes note, the past week me and two old friends went to a Mets game (the one where the Reds crushed us...sigh) and we were talking about who was the best Met at each position. When it came to SS I totally spaced on Reyes. I guess it was the "what have you done for me lately syndrome" (ses David Wright). I'd go with Reyes as the best Met SS over Buddy and Rey, not sure who else is in the conversation. And fwiw, DW is by far our best 3B.

I'm not familiar with that song, but this was pretty good:

Biggest takeaway from that article for me is the Mets may be thinking of bringing in a new GM. If they do Mickeys a goner, I was assuming Ricco and company had been groomed as the successors and they've stated they were on board with retaining Mickey and his clubhouse. Mickey gets a lot of hate as a manager. Should he get any credit for Wheelers in season turn-around? How about De Grom's lights out season when the team around him sucks? I'm not lobbying for Mickey, just pointing out that the lineup mishap and in game miscues of a first year manager may be overstated...or maybe I'm preparing myself for the inevitability that he will be manager opening day 2019

Adam Schein: Josh Allen is the next Carson Wentz
SinceThe70s replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty sure he got his start in the NYC market which would explain his Rex hatred. I have nothing specific to point to other than I never respected his opinion from the first time I saw/heard him. Maybe it was his delivery. The NYC market thrives on sensationalism and hides behind its large market..."we're NYC, we must know more than everyone else!" -

I'm not a fan of Adam Schein's opinions, but in this case I hope he's right. -
The hell with Kelvin, its Friday night and I need more buzz!

The Robinson brothers (Black Crowes). Not sure they reach the level of "fierce", but the sum of the parts is less than the whole.

Carbona or Sheena release? Either way, nice choice.

Official Out of Town Bills Fan Interactions Thread
SinceThe70s replied to billsfanmiami(oh)'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Last night I went to a Mets game. Noticed a guy wearing a Bills shirt in the parking lot with his two friends. Inspired by this thread I walked over. They looked a bit confused until I gave Bills shirt guy a fist bump and a "Go Bills". -
Off the top of my head there's only one justification I can come up with: Manny Machado. Which is probably about as likely as the Mets signing Khalil Mack to be their next closer.

Mets did a video tribute for Harvey before the game tonight, which came as a surprise to me. He also seemed contrite and actually likable in the clips I saw of his dugout interview. What a shame that he never became the pitcher we all thought he'd be for us.

Official Out of Town Bills Fan Interactions Thread
SinceThe70s replied to billsfanmiami(oh)'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I was on vacation in the Canadian Rockies in July. We had a few "Go Bills" moments in somewhat remote places: - a guy walking his dog just below Takkakaw Falls - a guy and his girl on a hiking trail by Emerald Lake Also ran into a family from Buffalo at Athabasca Glacier that we chatted with for a few minutes. Back in March I skiied past a guy with a Bills hat at the top of Vail and gave him a Go Bills, but he didn't hear me. -
Favorite motivational speech/clips

Bluto: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! .... Otter: I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part! Bluto: We're just the guys to do it. -
I'm sure this will happen to all of us in 20+ years

"If it's too loud, you're too old". Clearly these guys aren't there yet. Best part is they were "disoriented and dazed" when police found them. How did that differ from anyone else at the show? -
By and large the top 5's on this list have been older albums. Probably just the demographics of posters, maybe not. I always thought that CD's were a game changer. Not sure the exact specs, but old guy remembers when your typical two sided LP would fit on a 45 minute cassette. CD capacity was more like 75 minutes. I often got the impression that artists tried to fill up the 75 minutes, which ended up with more filler.
