  1. Leadership is one thing I don’t think you can knock him on. He was a leader on his team this year and the team immediately fell apart the few games he was injured. Despite his injury, he came back and played in his bowl game.
  2. He was up and down at the beginning like most QBs, but reports are he is getting better each practice.
  3. That’s fine if it’s more about the film for you. He does have a lot of ugly tape. I just wanted to mythbust some of the reasons you gave before. As far as the Nebraska game goes, it was his first ever road start in college. I don’t hold that against him as much, that’s a game a lot of QBs struggle in. I’d say his worst game was the Oregon game this year. And I agree it would ultimately be better if he went later. Unfortunately, you have to take the raw tools into consideration bc they are a factor. But yes, some team will draft him very early almost entirely based on his physical gifts.
  4. Allen started for 2 years at Wyoming, unless your counting his year at JUCO. He also has led the Cowboys to the winningest two years since 98 and 99. He threw for more yards than Carson Wentz did over the same amount of time while operating in the same offense. He improved his interception percentage greatly from sophomore to junior years. He is sub 60% for his career. You may eventually be vindicated if his pro career flops but their are a lot of reasons to like Allen as a prospect.
  5. Look up his history. He is maybe the least developed major QB prospect of the modern era. He didn’t attend QB camps all his life, just really started focusing on football. That is why I think he can improve with some good coaching because a lot of the accuracy issues comes from his feet. In HS, he went to a small school and played multiple sports all year. Spent one year at Junior College and then transferred to Wyoming and spent a couple years under Coach Bohl. Bohl is not a good QB developer, Carson Wentz still has issues with his footwork this year. Again, I agree with you that some team is probably going to ruin him but I don’t think his accuracy is incurable if he finds the right environment.
  6. I’m an Allen apologist because I think he has some amazing abilities and I think he is a great kid that has a lot of ability to improve - even in the accuracy department. But you are right, he shouldn’t be drafted early based on the QB he is right now. Unfortunately, he is going to be drafted early based on the QB he could be. And if he goes to a really bad team, it could end really bad for him.
  7. TT is actually a little taller. Mayock loves this kid cause he has a big time mean streak. Last guy he praised like that was Brandon Albert who turned into a pretty good pro. Maybe a good RT option on day 2. I don’t want to spend any more high picks on WR, but Washington is going to be a stud in the NFL.
  8. Good thing he didn’t get a haircut!
  9. He won’t get out of day 2, could be a good pick there though
  10. Vick was ahead of his time. He wasn’t meant for taking snaps under center. I’d say that Lamar is actually further ahead right now for being a pro prospect because the transition to the pros for a QB of his skill set is easier now that these college concepts are being used. Aditionally, I think you are getting a much more mature and harder working player (Vick himself would probably admit that). I could see similar early success for Lamar based on these factors, but definitely a downgrade in talent...although still amazing.
  11. Between those two, Mayfield.
  12. Wow. The Broncos are lucky they got that much access to both top prospects. However, I have the utmost confidence that John Elway has no idea what he is doing when it comes to drafting QBs. I can’t wait to see how both compete against each other tho.
  13. I’m not a big fan of Rudolph as our franchise QB pick, but everything I hear about the kid as a person is glowing. If we could get him later on in the draft I’d be cool with it.
  14. That’s too bad. Was looking forward to him potentially battling it out with Mayfield and Allen to be one of the starters.
  15. Mayfield is not my favorite prospect. I don’t care about his “character” which I think is overblown (seriously, who cares). I think his size is going to be a major factor he is going to need to overcome in the NFL. It won’t be like it was in college where a lot of shorter QBs are able to find passing lanes in wide open offenses and the windows he is pushing the ball into are much wider. He is not the athlete Russell Wilson is. His best physical comparison may be Drew Brees, who I think was also a better athlete. And it took Brees several years in the pros before he really became a good QB. I get why a lot of people on this board have him as their 1st, 2nd or 3rd best QB. He has a great story, and put up great stats each year at Oklahoma. But I think you also have to look at the reality - you are drafting a player who will likely be the shortest and least athletic player on the field at all times. It’s a gamble that I don’t think you win often. However, I would gladly draft him at our first round pick hoping that he can defy the odds. His arm strength is quite good, his release is nice, he can read the field very well and knows when and how to push a throw. His stats were the way they were this year because he would pass up on the easy, open throws and make the harder (though still usually relatively open) downfield throws with accuracy. Mentally, he is a great QB (I always love when a QB can play great at two different schools like Russel Wilson did, because it shows they can grasp offenses quickly and adapt well to different cultures). And at 21, you draft Mayfield on the upside that he will learn to overcome his physical limitations and thrive within NFL offenses. If he does - and he has overcome a lot before - you have a franchise QB. Because his arm is that good and his mind that good. Right now tho, I see a guy that even in college needed to move away from his pocket to find space so he could see the field better. He uses his slipperiness to get away from defenders that I’m not sure he will be able to get away from when they all have NFL speed. And so, I have him lower on my QB want list than many others here at TBD. But if the Bills draft him, I’ll think we have a chance at a franchise QB. Because all he needs to overcome is his height. And he has overcome a lot before
  16. That is amazing, that is the most ever underclassmen in a draft. What a a great year to have a bunch of picks!
  17. Chase Litton from Marshall just declared. 6’6’’ and a strong arm. Would really like to draft a QB in the first and get him later on to develop like the skins did with RG3 and Cousins...just with hopefully more success for our 1st rounder.
  18. Hated the pick when we took him. Hated the pick more when we found out his shoulder was a bum. They can probably find find a cheaper, edge setting DE with a low draft pick (which is all we can expect back) so I get the move. Such a shame that our recent history is littered with wasted draft capital.
  19. That is one of the awesome things about this draft. You have 5 great QB prospects coming out and each is very distinct in their positives and weaknesses. We don’t get our pick of the litter, but we will have the chance to get one and build off of what they do excellently. Very excited for this draft.
  20. Good, let better prospects fall down to us!
  21. Mason Rudolph as our first pick would be so disappointing...
  22. What I am going to say with these stats is that Allen is a little inaccurate. His inaccuracy is a result of inconsistent mechanics. However, he is also one of the least developed big time QB prospects we have seen. He is not a kid that has been working on his mechanics since middle school and just can’t get it. He is a kid who grew up on a farm, and played baseball when football was over. Once he gets real coaching around how to be a QB, he will become more consistent and will become more accurate. The question becomes do we fans have the stomach to wait for him, and most fans don’t and I don’t blame them. I still think he can have some success playing the way he does while learning how to be a better QB. Like all draft prospects, we will see!
  23. I am a huge Josh Allen fan. I think your assessment is fair and do want to say some of my thoughts. I bolded one of your positives because this is the biggest thing I learned about Allen from 2016 to 2017. In 2016 he was a first year starter and the lights of being a public figure and leader may have been a little bright for him. This year, he was the heart and competitive fire of that Wyoming team. With him injured Wyo lost to San Jose St - maybe the worst D1 program in the country this year - for heavens sake! What I saw this year from Allen was a competitiveness in the mold of Phillip Rivers. I knew from 2016 his physical abilities, in 2017 you got to see his heart. To get to some of his negatives. He is not a nuanced passer. He never attended big time QB camps bc he was a country boy playing multiple sports. He has basically risen to his stature based on his immense talent without much molding. Even at Wyoming, Bohl is a defensive coach not meant to develop great QBs. If you can get a good QB coach with Allen, even one of those gurus like Big Ben went to, I think he would develop fast. Do i think Allen will ever become a franchise QB? I think the odds are stacked against him BUT they are stacked against ever QB coming out of college. In the end, Allen’s god given abilities is going to give him an edge in the NFL. He can hit throws and windows no one else can. That will give him a chance because it’ll let him get away with more things until he gets better used to the game. He will be perfect in a cold weather, open stadium team that lets him air it out a lot, not bubble screens. I think Denver is going to draft him and that’ll be a great spot for him. Pittsburgh would also be great. As would Buffalo. I’m really rooting for the kid and will be ecstatic if he is a Bill. IMO, he is just shy of what Big Ben was coming out but with a more fiery attitude. I’d suggest Mike White from WKU.
  24. I hate that people think Mason Rudolph is going to go higher than he will. I think he winds up in the late second. And for where he is as a QB, that is already on the high end. Not a bad QB, but just as much as a project with his mechanics as Josh Allen is but without the same upside. Dang shoulda read your post first, took the words right out of my mouth
  25. I think 2011 was the record for declared underclassmen but this year is getting close. Good year to have a lot of early picks.
