  1. The former scouts / crusty old NFL guys really liked Allen as a prospect. Because they are trained to look at what a guy can do, ie his arm strength, size and athleticism. The blog boys and "analytics experts" hated him because his college numbers said he couldn't work. I'll still contend if Allen were the QB for USC or Oklahoma or UCLA and Baker or Darnold or Rosen were the Wyoming QB, the hot take blog boys would have had very different opinions on him.
  2. Is Foster still running with the 2nd team? I understand (especially in the preseason) training Josh to take what's available short. But IMO if we have any chance to be any sort of dynamic offense, it's going to come from having Brown and Foster both on the field, stretching the D and allowing Josh to take some chances on making plays downfield.
  3. This is such a massive inefficiency in college football. The state of FG kicking at the D1 level is sooo sooo bad.
  4. It's a thought exercise. I think that's more relevant than saying "we could surprise every team in the league at home in week 6".
  5. Whether or not they would split is not the question. Upsets happen in the regular season all the time. The question is, how many teams do you think the Bills could walk into their stadium and beat in January. I don't think we'd be touching the Pats / Chiefs / Eagles / Saints / Rams (just to name 5) in that type of situation.
  6. I think Bengals - Dolphins on Dec 22nd is going to be playing for the right to have first chance at QB in the draft.
  7. Shady feels like one of those "we trade a 7th + Shady and get back a 6th" type of deals.
  8. Between the Cardinals, Redskins, Bengals, Dolphins, there's setting up to be some terrible football this year.
  9. The 49ers feel like another RG3 / Cousins situation brewing IMO. I would not be shocked to see Jimmy G. outright benched for Beathard or Nick Mullins in the middle of the year.
  10. As much as I though the price was right the take a chance on him, I couldn’t imagine this clown in our camp. Hard Knocks hit this choice out of the park... I think the league is full of weird dudes. I also think most of the ones down the depth chart are too scared for their livelihoods to let their true colors show. AB is in the business of AB. Between the head and the feet he’s the most talked about player in the league. That’s great for the “AB” business.
  11. Direct TV / ATT doesn't care about customers anymore. Cable is not a profitable division for them, they are launching their own app soon and are waging a price war with local channels all over the country (in Columbus we haven't had NBC for 2 months).
  12. I don't think Ford is near ready to handle the Kahlil Mack / Von Millers of the world who routinely line up across from the RT
  13. I see your point, but I don't think college football has much trouble pulling ratings when Alabama plays Auburn or Ohio St plays Michigan.
  14. I lost my fantasy football playoffs because an injured DeAndre Hopkins went for 10-170-2 against the Jets. They didn't address corner in the offseason. That's all I have to say about the offseason hype on the Jets.
  15. Don't get rid of divisions, but lets make them make more sense: AFC North - Bills / Jets / Giants / Pats AFC East - Ravens / Redskins / Steelers / Eagles AFC West- Browns / Bengals / Colts / Titans AFC South - Dolphins / Buccaneers / Jags / Falcons NFC North - Packers / Bears / Vikings / Lions NFC South - Cowboys / Saints / Texans / Chiefs NFC West - Rams / Chargers / 49ers / Raiders NFC Leftovers - Cardinals / Seahawks / Broncos / Panthers That keeps some traditional rivalries intact while also creating plenty of opportunity for new more fierce geographic rivalries.
  16. Kurt Coleman made one of my favorite college football plays of all time. Toledo WR Eric Page caught a pass, Coleman caught him at the one yard line, held him up and stripped the ball that ended up preserving a shut out. I couldn't find a highlight but it was great.
  17. Allen feels low on some things like awareness and deep throw accuracy, but I'm betting they needed to bump some things down a bit artificially because some of his other categories (throw power, speed, etc) are very high.
  18. What a time to be a fan. Basically would be like having Philip Rivers, Saquon Barkley, Davante Adams and Kahlil Mack on the same team now.....
  19. If the price is reasonable on a deal, get him. When it comes to the Oline, I'm a big believer in the "rising tide raises all ships". Putting him at LT along with Morse at center gives us two plus players at key positions. We have the money. Given the musical chairs at every position but center currently, having one more position shored up and settling only 3 positions would give us a lot greater chance at putting a quality oline on the field in week 1.
  20. My biggest fear is unrealistic fan expectations based upon signing Cole Beasley and John Brown.
  21. The media built Barkley up as being the "#1 pick in 2 years" as a freshman. Even going into his senior year he was the betting favorite to win the Heisman and the media still billed him as the sure top guy. Leinart qualifies certainly, but Barkley is a much more extreme example.
  22. The "Matt Barkley" potential on Tua is very high IMO, ie media builds him up to be sure #1 pick years in advance, then ends up going much later.
  23. At this point in the season, absolutely. When you are leading up to the draft and premier players in the middle of their prime come on the block and you have a boatload of cap space it's time to have a conversation.
