Inaugural - "look it up Thurman." -

"Intentional gounding? WTF, I never get called for that!" -
How not to protect your blue chip franchise QB
Haslett_Stomp replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hate to say it but while watching the game today thought it may take an injury to make Allen a better QB. He's not going to last the season if he keeps running like he did today. -
My annual post before the first game of the year

Thanks for posting, that video never gets old. I met Tim Russert at a place called 'The West Ender' on Nantucket back in '87. Seemed like a great guy. -
Best Football Announcers

+ Curt Gowdy He was great, even created a new verb: "collisioned" as in "he collisioned with the receiver." One of my high school English teachers referenced this on occasion as an example of bad grammar. -
^ these. I couldn't wait for the highlights and was always disappointed if (when) they didn't show Bills highlights after a big win. I always watched MNF with my dad and got to stay up late because he inevitably fell asleep. I'd wake him up around midnight when I'd head upstairs to go to bed.

I was wondering how long it would take Ken Jones to be called for holding... it didn't take long!

I sure miss the old intro. Makes you realize how lame the current intro is (if you didn't already know).

R.I.P. Gentle Ben Williams

One of my favorite players as a young Bills fan. RIP Ben. -
I just turned it on for a couple plays but turned it off after the Singletary catch and run. Not ready yet, especially with the JJ Watt love-in about to start...

Gonna go out on a limb and say Belichick retires
Haslett_Stomp replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Will definitely be interesting to watch. There are no recent scenarios for comparison (that I can think of). Parcells and Jimmy J. come to mind but they were less successful after going to different organizations. -
Do they still call it the Port of Columbus Airport?

I have a funny "brush with greatness" story... my girlfriend (now wife) and I were having drinks one Friday after work at a bar in Boston's Faneuil Hall back in the late '80s. There was a commotion at the front of the bar and in walks Roger Clemens who, after much fanfare and back slapping by the Sox fans in the bar, proceeded to walk past us to the back of the bar. We went back to drinking/talking and after about 5 minutes there was another commotion at the front of the bar. In walks Clemens again... after he walked past us the first time, he went out the back door and around to the front again. -
Who Is Your Least Favorite Bill of All Time ... and Why?
Haslett_Stomp replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Smerlas, though I liked him as a player. Listening to him badmouth the Bills now that he's a Patriot homer is hard to stomach. -
Mel Kiper has the bills taking Shenault Jr
Haslett_Stomp replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
^ This. My son goes to CU and I have seen Shenault play in person a couple times and many times on TV. As Billsflyer12 said, he is an excellent athlete but seems to be injury prone. -
Buffalo Bills LorAx retirement Video
Haslett_Stomp replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Awesome tribute. In the video he mentions that his kids are sad that they will have to leave Buffalo. Any idea where they are going? -
Given his history with the referees you would think that Hughes would have the good sense to stay away from that situation given the circumstances. You knew he would be flagged as soon as he approached the pile.
-
I'll have to watch it again but saw Hughes mill around the periphery of the scrum then reach into the pile. I knew he was going to get flagged. It looked like he threw several punches but I could be wrong.
