  1. I just had a flashback of Gregg Williams getting hired by Tom Donahoe. Donahoe went on and on about how prepared Williams was for the interview. I need a drink!
  2. It is smart and it is also essential. Five other teams looking for a HC at the same time. There are a lot of repetitive candidates amongst these six teams. Some of these candidates will a) be hired, b) withdraw and remain in their current situation, and c) not be considered a strong candidate. There is also likely a candidate or two who are just getting interview experience and are not ready to bust a move. Factor this all together and it is not hard to understand why the Bills end up somewhere between 12 - 15 interviews perhaps more. Hopefully the next HC will be an innovative guy who can motivate players and work well with others in the organization i.e. not be a pompous ass.
  3. He feels great. He has recovered from various injuries and the idiot who didn't want him is no longer there! Go Bills!
  4. I'm not sure about Rex Ryan or Levitre but agree with everything else. Cutler is the best option out there. He's far from perfect but the Bills have a very good D and strong special teams and as we know no qb or 1st rd pick.
  5. He doesn't have a compatible personality with many people. He wouldn't be a good fit for the Bills. I live in DC and he was terrible.
  6. This is all about Marrone. First he quit because he didn't get the extension and now he is using Polian to spin the story in a way that Marrone looks good and gets another HC job. Whaley might not be perfect, who is, but the roster is much more talented and there is better depth since he came on board. Marrone failed to use the talent he had properly, failed to recognize the shortcomings of his OC, and most importantly failed to recognize his own shortcomings i.e. too conservative, predictable, and bad game day management. I have full confidence that the Pegulas will get this going in the right direction for the first time in a long time maybe ever.
  7. He really started to irk me this past training camp when he was riding guys like Hughes and Woods. Just didn't understand it. I'm glad he left. It might be a little chaotic right now but I believe Pegula and Co. will build off the progress that the team has made.
  8. Right up there with death and taxes.
  9. Let's give him a little time. Maybe an offseason of football. He's only had the team 3 months. All of this crap happening in the last 4 days (Orton, Marrone, and Polian) may actually be steps in the right direction for the Bills.
  10. Marrone made a business decision in a business that can be brutal at times. I don't think any future bills coach will be afforded an opt clause going forward. IMO despite the contract language he quit. He couldn't handle the uncertainty and bolted. I'm puzzled that he thinks the Jets and the NY media is a better situation for him should he go there.
  11. Wait and see is probably the wise thing to do. Pegula needs to set this up from top down. If Polian rumor is true, I think that would be good. Proven track record with 3 teams. A little concerned though about his son. There was pretty bad fallout when they left Indy.
  12. When I first heard this I was pissed. Here we go again. Now I'm glad he is gone. Who needs a quitter? Let him take his ball and $4 million (man that hurts) and go home. Why do Bills' fans love Freddy Jackson because he is all heart and doesn't quit. We love the Bills because they came back down 35 - 3 against the Oilers and won in the greatest comeback ever. They went to four straight super bowls and demonstrated all kinds of guts, courage, and determination. Marrone goes 9 - 7 (15 -17 overall) and reportedly wants an extension for himself and/or his coaches. Say what you want about him, he has some stones. Mediocre results and he wants an extension. Ludicrous! Hang in there Bills' fans. This may be a blessing in disguise. Here's hoping Terry and Kim keep pushing the right buttons. So far they are 1 for 1. The poem that Marv quoted after the Super Bowl loss to the Giants: "Fight on, my men," says Sir Andrew Barton, "I am hurt, but I am not slain; I'll lay me down and bleed a while, And then I'll rise and fight again.
  13. I just watched the Jets/Chiefs rewind. Even though they only scored 10 pts, the Jets were moving the ball pretty consistently against the Chiefs. They had first and goal at the Chiefs 3 and turned it over on downs early in the 4th when it was 24 - 10. They had other opportunities as well later in the 4th. The Chiefs did not get sustained pressure on Vick and the Chiefs O all game was rather conservative and non explosive. Charles and Bowe are their main playmakers but also watch out for TE Kelce 87. Kelce was getting open and Smith was throwing to him pretty regularly. After watching this, I feel even better about the Bills chances against the Chiefs.
  14. It's called "liquid courage".
  15. The Chiefs are playing pretty well right now. They ran the ball very well against the Chargers in SD. They are also pretty good on D and can get after the qb. The Bills need to play a smart game and hopefully Hackett will be more aggressive.
  16. We won on the road by 20 points against a divisional foe. It may not have been the prettiest win but I'll take that on any given Sunday. Go Bills!
  17. Let's see: better play calling, better oline play, better run game, better game management and a better sense that he should be the head coach. And of course a winning record. If these things don't happen then he's no different than any other head coach of late. Hopefully Pegula is willing to pay for a proven head coach who actually has legit experience and a plan when the time comes.
  18. I think many Bills fans are thinking this very thought.
  19. Plus they drafted the year before an OT, Tryon Smith?, and they have Demarco Murray and Tony Romo. Pretty good Olinemen and skill players.
  20. I believe the Bills offensive struggles rests at Marrone's and Hackett's feet. Hopefully Pegula will recognize this and get a real head coach.
  21. It still was a very bad play on Rivers part. It would have forced the Texans to punt and I believe it would have saved a timeout. You expect players to make physical mistakes at times but mental ones are pretty much inexcusable.
  22. They are going to leave the lights on now when the monkey throws the dart!
  23. I'm surprised that the Bills made the switch this soon. I think it is the right call though. I was not looking forward to the Lions game but now I am.
  24. It seems to be a typical occurrence over the past several years. Every year, a loss(es) that sticks to you because the Bills gave it away one way or the other.
  25. I'm not defending Trent Edwards at all but at least he got crushed and suffered a concussion. Before the concussion he actually was pretty good. EJ has had a couple of knee injuries but hasn't put two games together that were good.
