More like energy conservation for me. Looking forward to the season but know it's a long season. Much can happen between now and January. Trying to stay even keel regardless of what happens.

Thanks. I was watching red zone and they cut away to another game right as the announcing crew thought Chargers called timeout and not Miami.

True but Staley the head coach is a bigger dunce. Right before the interference call, Herbert slid in bounds on 3rd down with a moving game clock with 14 seconds. Instead of letting the game clock running down to 5 seconds before calling timeout, he called a TO with 14 seconds. Chargers kicked a FG and left time for Miami to score before half thanks to Jackson the other dunce.

He does have good football instincts. I also like his basketball experience. Some of the better TEs were former basketball players. Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez to name a couple.

The Bills will win if/The Jets will win if....

Whoever protects their QB better will win -
Bernard, Torrence and Benford all officially starters

I'm curious to see if there is any chance Kirksey is a PS call up for Jets game. He played for Al Holcumb in Cleveland so there's some familiarity. It may be too quick but Bills can't be feeling too good the way Dodson flamed out and Bernard missed all 3 preseason games. -
Value may not have necessarily been there. I didn't look back at who was available at the time when the Bills were on the clock. They appear to finally have some quality guards with Torrence and McGovern starting.

I do find it interesting the Bills do not have a single 1st round pick on the oline. They have one at QB, WR (I'm counting Diggs trade), TE, DE, DT, and CB. They just lost Edmunds to FA. Hopefully Brown can solidify the RT spot. Counting on a guy who had back surgery is an iffy proposition though. Personally, I'm glad they signed Ifedi. Not expecting great things but if Brown is struggling they do have an option now. In a weird way, I think the Bills improved their backup RT with Shell retiring. The game of football has changed a lot since the Bills were making Super Bowl appearances. The biggest difference in those teams and the current Bills version is the oline imo. There are other differences of course. If they can improve their overall oline play, protect Allen better and run it more effectively, they could be even more explosive and dominant. Having a stronger oline could hide some defensive weaknesses or at least negate them to a degree.

Extending T. Johnson seems the safest move to create cap space. Probably need an additional move though. I like Jones but it may be Dawkins who they extend.

Few things not being talked about concerning this offense.

The penalties are a problem. I forget where I saw the video analysis but another issue in the Steelers game was Allen was dropping too far back at times. 10 yards or so. Puts more pressure on OTs. Needs to step up into the pocket. -
McGhin was with the Bills in 2019 and 2020. In 2019 he was injured during preseason and was waived injured. In 2020, he was signed in the Spring and released at beginning of training camp. He'll probably play a lot on Saturday and then goodbye.

IIRC, Ryan Van Demark played LT with the 2nd string along with Shell at RT.

Look at how many solid players we drafted in 2018 besides JA
juno999 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
2018 was a great draft. If Harrison Phillips stayed healthy, it probably would have been a phenomenal draft. 2017 was a really good draft too. 3 starters -White, Dawkins, and Milano. The other picks are still in the league. Jones (Jaguars), Peterman (Bears) and Vallego (Cards). McD did well for a guy walking into a bleeping mess. Speaking of messes, here's the 2016 draft: RoundPickPlayerPositionCollegeNotes 1 19 Shaq Lawson DE Clemson 2 41 Reggie Ragland LB Alabama Pick from CHI 3 80 Adolphus Washington DE Ohio State 4 139 Cardale Jones QB Ohio StCompensatory 5 156 Jonathan Williams RB Arkansas 6 192 Kolby Listenbee WR TCU 6 218 Kevon Seymour- 47 replies

This is great. My brother and I need to step up our game when it comes to Marcia.

Great post. IMO the Bills draft a RB in either the 2nd or 3rd. Deep draft for RBs. They could sign a FA but he will probably be too much $ when you consider the Bills are trying to re-sign Hughes and sign other FAs. Brown needs to work on ball security if he wants to be a primary back. I see Brown competing with a RB, who is not on the roster yet, for the primary spot. If he gets beaten out, I see him like last year i.e. inactive unless some other RB gets hurt.

I read this one of two ways: either a big named receiver and/or a big sized receiver. A big sized receiver without a big contract makes sense to me but not the other. We already have Sammy and we have other priority needs. +1

Classic Bills Reminiscing (1980 Season update)

FIRST DOWN! I can still hear Red call it out. Awesome. Now all we need is Ben Dreiff call 15 yards for "Giving him the business"! -
Bills to go in little-talked-about direction at QB?
juno999 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are dead on about hope over experience. Griffin is not the same player he was as a rookie. He blew out his knee and he isn't as fast as he once was. This was a big part of his game i.e. a true run threat which is no longer part of his game. Defenses have adjusted and keep him in front and force him to throw. Griffin is not your typical pocket qb and he doesn't have that skill set. He takes too many hits and is injury prone. IMO this would be a bad trade for the Bills. -
Yup

I live here in DC and Griffin is a cancer on the skins. He is a great athlete who works out like crazy but doesn't spend enough time watching film on opposing teams. So many people have mentioned this but the main guy is Steve Young. He takes too many hits during a game that it is hard to imagine him being able to play a full season. He is not same athlete since his knee injury. Snyder loves the guy and even if Snyder was willing to trade him it would be a high price. IMO he would be a very risky trade and I'd rather see the Bills go in any other direction.
