  1. One player that is "moving up" is OT Martin from Notre Dame. Some have said that he could be a top 10 pick. A four year starter that may go before Lewan.
  2. They picked up a run stuffing MLB and are moving Alonso outside where he can make more plays. The defense should be better with those 2 moves alone not to mention what else they did. Plus you still have the draft and the rest of the offseason.
  3. If the Bills do want to trade up to 1, I have a feeling there won't be much competition for it. The price is too high for most teams and that may include the Bills as well. They say it is a deep draft this year. Therefore, I would like the Bills to try to trade down in the mid teens of first round and take BPA. Then address, in no particular order, WR, TE, OT, and LB.
  4. I agree. Whaley was in a tough spot and did well by saying essentially nothing.
  5. I thought Whaley did a nice job of blowing smoke all over the place. Does anyone know what the Bills are going to do at 9? Trade up, trade down, or pick someone. Who knows and neither do the other 31 teams. Would you want him to say anything different today with 2 weeks to go?
  6. Looks like the Jets Home game is the only team the Bills play after their bye week.
  7. What a joke. The Dolphins and Patriots would love to have this "PR nightmare".
  8. All true. In addition, the Bills could also attempt to restructure Johnson's or Williams' contract at some point.
  9. Sarcasm! Love it. I missed your prior post 194. Go Bills!
  10. I agree. From an odds standpoint, one of these 7 QBs will have a better career than EJ. However, If you listen to Casserly's statement, he rated ALL 7 ahead of EJ based on their college careers. Casserly, if he was still a GM, would take all 7 of these guys over EJ. Time will tell if EJ is the real deal. Here's hoping that he is!
  11. I was pointing out to Bills Vet that Casserly has made some bad picks and backed it up with 2 real examples. As far as EJ goes, to me the jury is still out. Time will tell but I don't think all 7 of those QBs pointed out by Casserly will have better careers than Manuel. If Casserly is so good why is he on TV and no longer a GM?
  12. And with the 3rd overall pick of the 1994 draft, the Washington Redskins select Heath Shuler, QB, Tennessee. And with the first pick of the 2002 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select David Carr, QB, Fresno State. Both teams were run by GM Charley Casserly at the time of these selections. Picking QBs is difficult as demonstrated by the number of busts. Casserly was former GM Bobby Beatherd's right hand man for the Skins. Once Casserly was on his own he didn't do as well.
  13. I believe trading down in the first round is quite possible. The Bills have put themselves in a position where they could take BPA in the first 2 rounds (2 - 3 picks) and grab an OT in the 3rd round.
  14. Whoever buys the Bills will most likely undertake a significant amount of debt. Servicing that debt will be a large sum which would wipe any annual profit currently existing with the Bills ticket sales, etc. To keep the Bills in Buffalo, I think you need a group who can buy the Bills and also buy and build a new domed stadium that can be a multipurpose venue where the new ownership makes revenue year round on Bills games, concerts, college football games, maybe a college bowl game, NCAA basketball tourney, etc. I don't like bringing up Jerry Jones but he's doing this in Dallas. No, I'm not suggesting a stadium like the Cowboys although it is pretty impressive. Saw the Bills play there a few years ago.
  15. The guy who makes a game winning play against the Patsies!
  16. Interesting to watch that video years later. Mayock thought Sanchez was the best qb in that draft and thought it was a good trade for the Jets. Oops! I also remember Pete Carroll, USC head coach back then, saying he thought Sanchez should stay in college another year and that it was a mistake to go pro. Oh yeah!
  17. The Bills QBs were sacked a lot last year and the offense struggled down in the red zone. An OT, WR, or TE all make sense to some degree at #9. On offense, I think Pears is the weakest starter and therefore the easiest to upgrade. I think back to when the Bills made it to the Super Bowls, the OL was strong and dominant. I'm leaning toward an OT knowing that it is controversial.
  18. Plus if we keep stevie and draft a wr we may get lucky and say good bye to Graham!
  19. I was referring to the first sentence of the original post which stated DUI
  20. Not to be picky but it says he was charged with the suspicion of DWI and not DUI. DWI is a far more serious allegation.
  21. Oh yeah! A pretty good defensive coach who is an even better jerk! Winner!
  22. No one likes seeing the roster turnover and letting good players go. Sometimes it can't be helped though without jeopardizing the overall quality of the team. The Bills picked up Graham, Rivers, and Spikes and at worse improved their overall depth and special teams. Byrd didn't want to be here and I think the Bills did pretty well on their "backup plan" if Byrd left. Levitre left for $ 8 million a year with the Titans. The Titans just signed Michael Oher to a ridiculous contract. Levitre is good but he can only play LG. He can't play center or tackle. Do you overpay him or let him go? The Bills did the right thing by letting Levitre go. I'm sure it wasn't easy watching him walk. Where the Bills messed up was overestimating the talent they had at LG and not bringing anyone else in via the draft once Levitre left. This year, the Bills don't have any glaring holes entering the draft. They can get a WR, TE, and OT in their first 3 picks and take BPA after that. This is awesome. They are less likely to reach to fill a need and teams drafting around them will have no idea who or what position the Bills are looking at.
  23. If you consider all of the starting positions, RT and FS are the weakest positions on the Bills roster. Whaley says they already have a SS on the roster, so no safety at #9. If a starting RT is available in the second or third round, no need to take one at #9. My guess is they either trade down or take BPA.
  24. Lawson is a versatile player and he is not expensive. Plus, Spikes and Rivers are primarily run stoppers and not 3 down LBs. Worse case scenario for Lawson is he'll be rotated in on passing downs.
  25. Spiller is an exciting back to watch especially when he is in the open field. A concern that I have is he is not that big of a back. He is not really built to run between the tackles and take all those hits on a regular basis. His contract runs out after the 2014 season. How much do you pay a guy like Spiller who is not a primary back and gets nicked up fairly regularly?
