Max Kellerman is a total jerk
Buftex replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What pisses me off, any "bad takes" on this situation should be directed at Vontae Davis, not the Buffalo Bills. Unless there is something we don't know about, Davis handled this about as poorly as he could have. I get, and respect, that he just came to terms with the fact that he just can't physically play football anymore...I am sure that is hard to deal with. But why not tell your coaches at the beginning of the week, or today...or, eve if he told them at half-time, just stay with his teammates until the end of the game, even if he couldn't play. To me, this is just a very unjustified black-eye on the franchise. The national take seems to be that this is all a reflection on how bad of a franchise the Bills are, or how bad the fans are, is just galling. But, you are right...we have been here before. -
I hope it works, and I will support them all the way...but this is basically the line we were sold with the Sabres a few years ago, but the GM proved much more adept at taring down what was there and acquiring future assetts, than he was at re-building...so we were treated to an extended period of some of the most miserable seasons in Sabres franchise history...lets just hope McDermot and Beane know how to re-build an NFL team, better than Tim Murray did and NHL team.

Did Vontae Davis retire at halftime? Yes, yes he did!

ALexander had a really strong second half today. Good riddance to Davis... -
Is Doug Marrone a better coach than Sean McDermott?
Buftex replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, I know what you are saying, but they (McDermot/Beane) kind of brought that on themselves to a degree. They got rid of some very talented players, and created a lot of "dead money" issues for the cap. I understand why they did it, but they could have kept a lot of those players, and dedicated themselves to caoching them up, rather than just getting rid of them. Guys like Dareus and Sammy might have not been their type of guys, but they weren't without talent. So, they get rid of them prematurely, creating dead money that they can't use to replace them with, and the performance of the team suffers, in the short term. Hopefully, they know what they are doing...next year they should have money to be able to build a much better roster...though, some of the free agent signings they made this year, so far, don't look like money well spent...trust the process. I still do, but excuses run out next year, for me. -

At least Boldin didn't do it in the middle of a game... -
From that list, I think Moore or Anderson would be most likely...maybe Lynch. I think Webb signed with the Jets.

McBeane's way of rebuilding makes no sense
Buftex replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not a Beane/McDermot hater, but I think the roster they inherited was much better than what we have now. I realize, this is a work in progress, and I am hopeful they build something better than what they are trying to replace...but they aren't there yet. In my opinion, Rex Ryan and his coaching staff were the biggest obstacle to the Bills success. -
I was thinking more long term, just in case Stafford is at the end...he looked really confused last night. Maybe concussion? Maybe just hitting the wall? I was leaning toward Keenum, Manning or Tannehill, because, as you point out, I feel they are the most secure in their jobs...though I don't particularly like any of them.
-
So, I have Matt Stafford as my #1 QB. My #2 QB is Jamies Winston, who is suspended through week 3...he may not even getting his starting job back, if Fitzmagic continues! Stafford looked awful last night...is it an aberration, or should I be worried? One more interception, and I would have lost my week 1 fantasy game... Which of these QB's would you pick up, if you had to: Sam Darnold Ryan Fitzpatrick Joe Flacco Case Keenum Eli Manning Ryan Tannehill Tyrod Taylor

Who Is the Worst Starting QB in Bills History (NFL)?
Buftex replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really...I just have an insane collection of old games...including some "nuggets" from 1984 and 1985! -
Who Is the Worst Starting QB in Bills History (NFL)?
Buftex replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
C'mon man...not even close! Every guy on that list, except Peterman, had some degree of success. Peterman has stunk in every apperence...as one old enough to remember them all, I have to say Peterman, by a long shot. Two starts, two losses that were so bad, he had to be yanked before the game was even over. Even Jeff Tuel (who I have heard him compared to a few times in the last 24 hours) and Thad Lewis played well enough to keep their teams in games, until making one fatal blunder...he has QB'd two of historically awful Bills offensive performances. If I recall thouhg, both Dufek and Mathison, had a few games that they kept the team in the game, before making mistakes to lose the game...I think Mathison even had a 300 yard game,. somewhere along the way. -
Every Josh Allen Throw Vs. Ravens
Buftex replied to Prickly Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless they bring in another QB, they have to go with Allen. If they put Peterman back in, it sends the absolute wrong message...to everybody. Allen has a lot to learn, but not as much as Peterman. Allen doesn't look scared. Peterman (to borrow a phrase from the JP Losman era) plays like he has a "bee in his helmet". I have no doubt that he is a good guy, and a great teammate, but he may be the worst QB we have seen play in a Bills uniform, this century. I was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt after the Chargers game last year, but sitting and learning from Tyrod didn't do anything for his game...what good is sitting and learning from Peterman going to do for Allen? McDermot/Bean really blundered this, in my opinion...they have left themselves with little other choice than to start Allen. Personally, I think he can handle it...if he can't so be it...playing in Buffalo he's going to have to learn fast. -
Was there a solid plan on the QB after Tyrod left?
Buftex replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liked Tyrod, and would not have been upset had they kept him. Though, I certainly understand why they did. I think they had a solid enough plan to replace him, until they traded McCarron. Then it kind of went out the window. McDermott and Beane have to take some blame for this. McCarron may have very well sucked too, but this marks the second time in a year that they badly mis-read Petermans' ability to play at the NFL level. I don't believe they are intentionally setting out to tank the season, but that was some leap of faith, trading away McCarron, your "vetran" backup, for a guy who had one (very bad) start under his belt. -

Not to mention, he avoided about 4 or 5 sacks that the other guy would have taken. -
How many of you were optimistic going into the preseason?
Buftex replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Going in to last season, my optimism for the Bills coming season was probably as low as it has ever been...then they back their way into the playoffs, and it turned out to be a really fun season. After that, I am just trying not to have any expectations, other than just trying to enjoy the games every Sunday. Good or bad, watching the Bills on football Sundays is still one of the few joys in life. Been doing it for 48 years or so....more bad than good...but still a great time. They showed me last year, you just never know what can happen. -
It has always cracked me up how sentimental so many Bills fans were/are about Larry Felser, yet loathe Sullivan. Felser was as negative as they come. Not saying i don't like him, but he always ripped the Bills, even in the better years. I think Sullivan makes some valid points...covering a perenial losing franchise would likely ware anybody out. How can you not be negative?

Signing Jaylen Watkins didn't help Sammy Watkins in Buffalo.

[Vague Title] The More Things Stay the Same
Buftex replied to Griff28's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just curious...what do you think Schwartz would have done with the QB situation? Does he have some history of bringing up great QB's in the NFL that I am unaware of? -
There are rumors out there that Richie started acting very erratic, in his final months on the Bills squad..so much so that he was banned from team facilities before he was cut. I think the Incognito ship has truly sailed...his NFL career is over.
