  1. Nothing the Beatles did excites me more than the Stones from 1968-1972. For me (and I realize this is all personal), "Beggar's Banquet", "Let It Bleed", "Get Your Ya-Ya's Out", "Sticky Fingers" and "Exile On Main Street" is about as great as it gets. That period of Stones music especially is kind of template for everything I love about rock-n' roll. They may not have ever been the studio masters that the Beatles (and George Martin) were, but their music during that period was just so authentic... their brilliance can't be denied. There had been other great white, British blues acts before, but the Stones were the first ones to perfect the formula, and make it sound like it was coming from them...not just respectfully copying a sound. It wasn't stylized. They were living it. True art. Not easy to pull off, especially since it was all sounds and styles that had been around for decades. I can argue that the Beatles (1962-1970), and possibly David Bowie (1969-1980), had longer streaks of excellence than the Stones...but for me, neither ever matches the inspiration of those 5 years of Stones records. The Stones stuff that came before it (the Brian Jones era) and their albums from "Goats Head Soup" through "Some Girls" were only a notch below that truly golden-era. They will always have a slight edge over the rest, for me...no matter how long they stick around past their prime.
  2. I'm not an Edmunds hater by any means...but if it came down to it, I would prefer to lose him over Oliver. It's very true. Good teams find ways to keep their best players.
  3. Those Darlins - In The Wilderness (Official Video) - YouTube.url This would have made a killer Stones song....
  4. I love them both...but push comes to shove, I'll take the Stones too...
  5. Honestly, I think people get way too caught up in labels, and categories when it comes to music. Terms like "pop" and "rock" , and what those genre categories include, change over time. The Beatles and Stones were both great pop bands...they were also great rock bands. It gets way too controversial, especially when people flip out over things like who is inducted into the "rock -n' roll" hall of fame. Something can be "rock" and also be "pop".
  6. It may have been true, up to a certain point...but after the Beatles put out Srgt Pepper, and the Stones put out Their Satanic Majesties Request, the Stones realized they didn't have to do follow the Beatles lead any more. The Stones were hardly the only band to fall into that trap... the Stones true artistry came after that with Beggar's Banquet where the Stones really became their own thing....***** Jack White...White Stripes sound like Led Zeppelin!
  7. Pretty sure I would have been at the Lords of the New Church show... that was my time, my era for the Continental. Never did see X back then, however.
  8. I was a little younger when the charging Buffalo came around, but seem to remember most liked it. Not the red helmets though...they were always pretty ugly.
  9. I really like them both. Roxy Music just kinda came out of nowhere. Couldn't pass it up. Didn't get great seats, but it should be a good show!
  10. I saw X open up for Blondie a few years back... X was fantastic. $50 is a bargain, these days. For me, shows I have tickets for: Dale Watson- last week of April The Who- first week in May Roxy Music/St. Vincent - early September Roger Waters- early October Sure there will be plenty of smaller shows in between...I have really missed seeing live music, more than anything over the last two years.
  11. If they ever bring back Terrence McGee, I am set!
  12. I know that Beane doesn't like to get too far ahead of himself, but it seems like he could create more cap space, for this season, by extending Poyer and Diggs, should a good player become available this off-season. Oh man, just as I type this, mention that Terry McLaurin could become available! He's fantastic.
  13. I think we have a great team, a great QB, and we have a great chance to win it all. However, I do get kinda nervous about all the high expectations...and to be honest, the cockiness of our fan base has been a little unsettling. I guess I am just not used to be that supremely confident...I can't get there, until they actually do it.
  14. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me. It seems like it could be headed that way. But, not for 2022.
  15. I would assume it is very similar to GamePass, with one major exception...you would be able to watch games live, as they happen. If you live in the US, right now, you can't do this via GamePass.
  16. I hate it too! I know, ultimately it doesn't mean that much, but I really don't like the "anything goes" policy with the jerseys now. It may just be an aesthetic thing, but growing up, learning the game, the jersey #'s have some kind of uniformity made it easier to understand what you were watching at times. It isn't as big an issue if you are watching your team, but when you are just watching a random game, and you are not as familiar with the players, it can take a little longer to kind of diagnose what happened on a play.
  17. Maybe they can get Ralph Kruger to coach them up!
  18. My earliest memories of the Bills start in 1972. Lived through the OJ era, and enjoyed the hell out of the Super Bowl era...but I think the "era" that sealed my lifelong love of the Bills was the short, but exhilarating "Talking Proud" era when Chuck Knox was the head coach. 1980 was the first year that I had season tickets (I was 15) and on opening day that year, the Bills broke the Dolphins streak. It is, to this day, the single most exciting sports moment I have experienced live. I had season tickets from 1980-1987, and I have been to about 200 Bills games...regrettably, I have never been to a playoff game. But for me, Fergy liming around on a bum ankle, playing his heart out in San Diego is my "wide right" moment. I was devastated after that loss, but it trained me to approach sports the only healthy way a Buffalo sports fan should...with high hopes and lowered expectations...win or lose, I find this team to be a joy, more often than not. My only moment of doubt in faith came when Dick Jauron was the head coach. If he hadn't been fired the season he was, I seriously might have stopped watching them. I hated those seasons so much. Absolutely loved those teams...1980-1981 are still my favorite seasons. If the Super Bowl runs had never happened, I can't say with 100% certainty, but I think I would still love the Bills as much today. That isn't to diminish my love of those 1990's teams, but the early 80's teams are forever my touchstone when it comes to Bills football. To this day, I have missed only 1 Bills game in 42 years...seen a lot more bad football than good. I like to say I "live and die" with this team, but to be honest, I don't do the "die" part as hard as I used to. I am just glad they are still here.
  19. Except we didn't benefit from the rule...it comes too late. Wait 'til next year!
  20. I wonder, did Beane overplay his hand with Bates at all? He probably could have offered him less, and he would have been happy to sign a contract, knowing that he was was returning. But he let Bates go out and find another team to draw up a contract for him. It looks as though the Bears structured a deal they didn't think the Bills would match. Glad he is back, but wondering if this is one of those few times where Beane got a little too cocky.
  21. Everything is staged, everything is a conspiracy...haven't you learned that by now?
