  1. I like the idea of this, not so sure about the players themselves. No doubt we are lacking top end taken at WR, but if the value isn’t there at the back of RD1, go get that DL depth restored. We cannot solve every need in this draft alone, so getting the best value picks to continue and build a winning team around our elite quarterback should be the goal. We saw it last night with Mahomes in the big game. Did they win because Mecole Hartman and MVS are elite talents? They won because of Mahomes and his insane ability, aided by an extremely strong defense that’s elite on the back end and deep on the DL.
  2. I can see a scenario where the top WRs are not available at 28. Beane takes BPA on the DL, and then moves up in the 2nd for the next tier of WR he likes (worthy maybe?). Then again in 2025 they take their true size WR early in the draft (1st or 2nd)
  3. I was on this train of thought but wonder if there is room, or if necessary, to bring in 2 rooks this year : Diggs Rookie (RD1) Shakir Harty Shorter Rookie (RD4?) In all likelihood a round 4 Wr will not see the field all that much in their rookie year. In addition, would it be a player at this point in the draft coming in with minimal experience that would offer more than Shorter? I think those mid round picks will be better spent on retooling the DL, secondary or OL. These are picks that could be guys that play significant snaps to maximize their rookie deals. We must keep the talent young and constant at WR, and I think taking one yearly moving forward early in the draft is a must…I just want them playing when you take them. I think bringing in a premier talent this year will be sufficient for now given the state of the offensive skill position support (Kincaid, Knox, Cook, etc) on top of the WRs we currently have (Diggs, Rook, Shakir). Adding a vet this year to the WR room might be more beneficial, having some experience in depth, and might fill the Sherfield Special teams hole. Then the next draft in 2025, we again look at WR early, and hopefully have struck gold on WR at 28 the year prior, and are poised to keep the talent young and flowing in a world without Diggs, or with him in a supportive role. WRs in 2025 Rookie from ‘24 (pick 28?) Diggs WR2 Shakir (contract year) Rookie from ‘25 Shorter Vet
  4. Dang. Good think it’s tax return season. Thanks for sharing
  5. We’ve used turbo tax for the past five years to e-file. We generally get our return within a week. When I was younger, I liked getting a fat return. Felt like free money to play with (vacation, etc). Now with a young family, we adjusted our withholding to try and balance it out so we don’t owe but are getting most of our $$$ month to Monday, as that’s when we need it. Child tax credit helps and is just about what we get back, so our Withholdings would otherwise be pretty close to accurate.
  6. Agree with the bolded. I do think the Elam pick was a bit of a panic selection. That draft saw two top picks at CB (Stingley/Gardner) and the Chiefs jumped us for McDuffie. They certainly could have went elsewhere with that pick, but we were constantly mocked and projected a CB. Kincaid was similar IMO in that a string of pass catchers went 4 WRs right in a row almost exactly before our pick. You can argue he was the next best, or is the best TE, or not even a tight end or whatever you want. Fact of the matter is he plays (or at least has) limited snaps in terms of what you’d hope to see from an investment of that caliber. The player they’re replacing in Davis was a 90+ % snaps guy. Is the new WR going to take a bulk of those? Will they be absorbed elsewhere? I hate to see a reach on a WR because we feel a void from Davis, especially if there are other options available who can contribute at a higher level, more regularly, even if on the defensive side of the ball. Do we want the 6th best WR in round one playing 90% of offensive snaps? Or do you take a lesser talent in RD 2 who earns 60% of snaps and that other 30% is going to existing guys like Shakir and Kincaid? If it’s the latter, taking a guy in RD1 who can play 100% of defensive snaps (safety) or become a key piece in your regular DL rotation might be the way they go.
  7. No clue. I just am trying to be cautious of falling into overdrafting a player for need, a la Elam. Maybe it’s a DE, or a Safety at 28….not sure. I just question if OBD is as locked in on WR at 28 as the fan base seems to be
  8. I think I have Stockholm syndrome. The more I read about the WRs that likely will be available at 28, the more I am thinking they should take the best defensive lineman available. 2nd round WR in 2024 1sr round WR in 2025 Tell me I’m sick. This is what happens after years of abuse.
  9. This is exactly the kind of guy I think they were hoping for in Harty. But with that frame, I’d be absolutely mind blown if they took a slot guy at #28 that cannot block in the box.
  10. I think the people expecting Beane to move up to get his guy are going to be surprised when we stay where we are. In previous years, Beane was always looking to flip back end roster talent for late round picks, and used them to maneuver around especially in the middle rounds. With the state of the cap and roster, I do not think we have this luxury anymore. With vet turnover likely happening, we will be trying to get younger and cheaper at certain spots that have traditionally been vets for the last few years. I think we’ll see more of these later picks have a shot at the roster, and we might need them more than we are used to.
  11. As much as I’m dying for WR help…. Blindly stating we should take BPA at WR is a mistake. If we’re up against a board that has 7-8 WRs go ahead of us, you don’t take the 9th best guy because you need one. You go get a premier talent at another position of need, and address wide out at a time when the selection more appropriately matches the draft slot. That, or move up and get your guy! I just don’t want to see them panic pick and have another Elam situation
  12. The modern version of “Brian Moorman is the best punter in the league!” No one cares.
  13. Ehhh not really, but saw a decrease in effectiveness from our #1 weapon. I was also in the camp that I thought they can run the ball better, not necessarily more. They did run it more, and unfortunately got a bit too run heavy specifically on predictable downs in the last few games. I think Brady will be as good as Allen carries these guys, unless they put a ton of YAC talent around him or find a way to bring back to deep and intermediate passing game
  14. I was over that game/season before the clock hit 0:00. Losing in the playoffs sucks, but there is no value in fixating on it. I generally take reg season losses harder because their is still hope. Losing in the post season means to close up shop and begin the offseason. Bring on 2024!
  15. Diggs dropped off the planet We ran the ball more Had no vertical passing offense No doubt talent needs to be improved but I feel like we just hired a more conservative Ken Dorsey
  16. Even if this is the perfect hire (which I significantly doubt), the more telling projection about the outloook on the offense is what Beane does this offseason
  17. What is this? I was expecting something less wordy and more scantilous. No generator babes?
  18. I’m sure posted already but Bucky Brooks mock draft 1.0 had DB Cooper DeJean (Iowa) to Buffalo.
  19. This title is vague. With respect to other posters, please be specific with labeling your thread. i kid, i kid.
