He certainly makes his point verbally but the two clips he showed were terrible examples to represent what he’s getting at. The first is a reception where the DB is playing well off coverage on a slant. This doesn’t highlight anything he’s discussing (separation, awareness, etc.) The second is a terribly constructed route combination of 2 on 3 in a zone that spanned about 5 yards of the football field. He can argue lazy route and loafing on this but again there is just so much at play here. If anything was lazy it’s that Smith didn’t take the 10 minutes he could have to find actual examples that reflect his more valid criticisms. He did that in his review last year. Again I’m not disagreeing with his analysis but he film review was weak. There are 3 plays alone in the first half that Keon was open later, or could have been targeted and Allen got off him quickly. I don’t know why he wouldn’t use these examples.

Where is Landon Jackson ???

This line of thinking is hilarious to me. Go look up every WR selected after Jackson in this draft. They’d likely be inactive on our team too. -

If they made a move for Shaheed, what % snap count would you expect him to command? He’s currently getting around 75% of snaps in NO. I don’t see a path for this level of usage in Buffalo. Of the 3 players listed above, I think you’re most likely to see him replace snaps from Moore. Idt anyone would be coming in taking snaps from Coleman or Palmer (if healthy). Shavers is in as a blocking option and Samuel is a gadgety back-up to Shakir. I would think, much like these other guys, he’d garner roughly 35- 50% of snaps, much like Amari Cooper last year (yes I know he was banged up). I don’t see how this would command such attention that many are seeming to imply would open up our entire offense and make us unstoppable. Id be happy to be wrong, but those variables that you referenced are important. Nothing against the player. It’s just a bad mix of priorities in the offense, Allen’s trust and current level of performance, snap usage, and scheme. -

Yep I think this was a, “we need depth at the position in the future” move. It was similar to the Bernard pick. Wasn’t an immediate need but obviously we have some holes at the position upcoming. Next season we were looking at Groot, Hoecht and Solomon. I think Jackson likely assumes the Epinessa role (who has been playing some good football) and then they’ll look to add their usual hired gun rental (Smoot, Floyd, Bosa, etc.) I think patience is key here. He isn’t hurting the team being inactive. Lots of other things to be mad about but to me this really isn’t one of them. -

Would I be excited for a WR trade? Yes for sure. It’s fandom and brings some energy and conversation to the team. You can always hope! But I’ll go on record saying that whatever mid trade they work out (if any, I never expected them to) it will be a disappointing outcome that won’t move the needle at all. There is just too many other factors at play here and I don’t see a single player that would come in at this point of the year and develop the rapport, trust and attention that the current make-up of the offense would utilize at a level to impact the trajectory of the season. The results of a trade for an average guy would likely end up being JAG. -
Despite all the love for Hancock (who had a huge blown coverage at the end of half on a deep post bailed out by the Bosa sack) I thought Po played a very solid game in run support. Probably the right move right now. I am curious why they like Hancock at S in 2025 and if he’ll have a look at the nickel in 2026. Taron might have played the worst half of football I’ve ever seen from him. I don’t love th Phillips addition, but they must feel okay will Ogunjobi at the 1T even though he was a bit of a mixed bag on Sunday. Ed will sorely be missed and yet the state of the DL hasn’t felt this strong in a while. Between Bosa, Groot, Hoecht, Walker and Epinessa, they’ve got some juice to really collapse a pocket. With Ed down, I’ll be curious to see who they look to in those 3rd and long Nascar front. They were having a lot of success with Bosa and the overload of Ed/Hoecht/Groot forcing 1v1s as well as a variety of pressure looks on the weak side. It is really a shame they lost Ed, but I think they’ll be okay up front. The back 7 continues to be my biggest area of concern on D

Well I will say this after my rewatch of the first half of Panthers game: -Allen left some obvious options on the table. He continues to bail early from the pocket and doesn’t seem to be working through entire progressions. -Brady’s scheme is questionable, in that often times we’re running two man concepts with a max protect into 7 defenders…or we’re running a two man concept both within 3 yards of the LOS. - Guys were open, or had a chance at times to get the ball, and Josh is opting to look elsewhere or scramble. - Zones seem to be giving this team the most trouble, despite what everyone has to say about our issues with man coverage. We are not finding holes in the zone (Brady, Allen, and WRs aren’t in synch). - The average depth of completion in that half had to be a career low for Allen. The only downfield throw was the 22 yarder to Kincaid in man, My take away from that half reaffirmed what I’ve thought: Allen’s mentality has shifted in large part to many factors: limited opportunity due to scheme knowing game flow dictate he play it safe, not trusting WRs to win and is looking for clearly open players (or Kincaid who he trusts). I don’t think adding any WR at this point is going to fix what the issue is: to me it has to be a combined effort to revamp the effort to push the ball down the field, trusting his guys, and drawing up some better route combinations against zones.

Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!

Ohhh good question: I’d say the Raiders are probably the worst in the league. Giants without Nabers are there, too. Titans and Browns are in the conversation. Other than that most teams have a clear #1 option or multiple guys who are well respected IMO -
Ed Oliver bicep injury - likely out regular season
EmotionallyUnstable replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I meant in terms of size. Calais is 6’6” 315 which is reportedly only 5 lbs heavier that Hoecht (despite being two inches taller). -

Yep I agree and these are obvious passing downs. Hoecht’s snaps on the IDL have been the Solomon 3rd DE interior rusher. We saw him lined up over the C on Oliver’s sack in the first drive. I’ll give you 290 even 295. But this dude is not Calais Campbell. Despite my rant, I am very excited about his “disruptor” level that I think he brings to the DL. -

Cameron Heyward - 6’5 295 Derrick Harmon - 6’4 313 Are you expecting him to play DT? I can do this all day so I’ll spare you my boneheadedness I just don’t see how he’d be playing the edge that weight. -
10/26/25 GAMEDAY Bills at Panthers post game thread
EmotionallyUnstable replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe. But for every clip posted like this hit piece, there is another one him digging out a defender and getting his hands dirty in the run game. Everyone wants to pile on him because it’s the low hanging fruit right now. -

280s makes sense. I just can’t believe he’s almost the same size as 6’6” Zion Logue -

Yeah idk about this. Most sources listed him more like 288-290. He’s also an inch taller than Hoecht and he’s 20 fewer lbs? There is just no way. -

Yeah I’m going to call BS on this. You’re right that the number is listed, but there just isn’t a practical way this is possible: Joey Bosa - 280 Ed Oliver - 287 Larry Ogunjobi - 305 He outweighs all these guys? Bosa by THIRTY pounds? Something is off -
Jags listening to trade calls for Brian Thomas
EmotionallyUnstable replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I’m going to say it again: I think they could trade for Randy Moss and I’m not sure how much it’d move the needle. Im all for bringing in better players but as far as I’m concerned the lack of talent is one of the factors in their passing struggles but just adding more raw talent to the room wouldn’t fix it.
