  1. Cheers to waiting around all day to here the news and it never comes.
  2. First off, I did not say he was an exact replica, but closest we have from a measurables standpoint. The tale of the tape doesn’t lie. From a statue standpoint they are similar in height, arm length and weight. Jackson IS athletic. He has a similar 40 to Hoecht and a much better vertical. His RAS score is very good. I did acknowledge his limitations, specifically his lower body strength and how he may struggle to turn his explosiveness into power in the interior. Quoting what Hoecht did with the Rams is insignificant in his role to the Bills, aside from highlighting his athleticism. Hoecht was playing your traditional DE and a designated pass rusher on 3rd or obvious passing downs. He is not a DT, and adding one to replace what he did is in no way a better option that giving Jackson a look. No more than we should add another LB because Hoecht played OLB with the rams. When Hoecht went down it was a combination on Dorian and Solomon replacing that role, not a DT. They are trying to get more athletic during the pass rush, not add size. Again, my original post previously stated I think Solomon is most likely to return to this role. I was curious if others thought it to be an option because of some of his similar characteristics to Hoecht, but clearly you do not. Special teams aside, they’ve carried 5 DEs the last two weeks with Hoecht, so it is within the realm of possibility they will look to continue with those numbers. I don’t think it’s all that crazy to contemplate a recent 3rd round pick, who despite your opinion, was regularly spoken as being athletic in power and size. He isn’t bendy, or quick twitch, and although Hoecht had some of those qualities, it doesn’t eliminate Jackson from contention to earn more snaps. As I said, I am thinking that those snaps will be more as a traditional DE in place of Solomon because he is not a valid 3 down option on the edge.
  3. And Taron Johnson last week was practice injury too edit: and damar too!
  4. Although I think Solomon is the guy we’ll see increased reps situationally on passing downs and in the NASCAR package (as he was pre-Hoecht), it’s undeniable that in stature LJ is the closest to a Hoecht clone we have waitin in the wings. Tall, explosive, heavy enough to rush from the interior vs guards. I don’t know that he has the right combination or leverage and converting his explosiveness to power but it will be interesting to see if they try it. I imagine a 6’6” Jackson rushing up the interior could be frustrating if he can move the pocket back at all. Worst case can he come in and help out on early downs, because Solomon is not a 3 down option at DE imo
  5. He’s also great in the prefessional back up commercial
  6. Yup I did this about 10 years ago when DirecTV started dropping stations. Used it sparingly and over time have gotten slightly better ones (they’re still super cheap) and it is my main source for football. You get the CBS/Fox games, SNF on NBC and many Monday night games on ABC (obviously Prime for TNF isn’t available, although I personally have NFL+ premium which is great for streaming Primetime games to devices as well- also very affordable compared to the larger streaming services)
  7. It isn’t an exact formula. It matters how much he signs for elsewhere, as well as how many dollars are spent by the Bills in FA next year. Even if we had that framework, the actual way it’s calculated has been historically suspect. Nah, you’re not needing to make moves of this caliber to sign street level free agents, imo.
  8. If MHJ leaves the Cardinals game early on MNF, we will know…
  9. First I heard Walter Nolan’s name since April
  10. Get yourselves a cheap antenna folks.
  11. Oh I entirely agree about the recency bias. It was awesome watching mahomes get beat to sheet. It’s just very funny to me that it’s all “how can Beane neglect the WR position for so long, McDermott gets all his toys, jeez our 3rd round DL isn’t even active, boogie basham, Groot is mid, Vonn was a waste, yada yada yada” and now it’s BRING ON THE BEEF!
  12. I think it’s hilarious how in a one week span most fans went from ready to storm OBD to demand a trade for a mid-level WR and now most are in on investing MORE into the defensive line (which is ironically the position that people have gotten pissed we put to many assets into!)
  13. Any other injury news from yesterdays game or the inactives per McDermott? Curious to see if we’ll have DQ Jones back or we’ll have another Phidarian Mathis game.
  14. Nice cut up but I am thinking the Hawes target was the right choice. Looks like they’re rolling into a Tampa 2 with Bolton in the hole. It would have been a risky shot to Moore and it looks so open because he’s breaking on Hawes when Allen unloads. Maybe I need to watch it again but given the down and distance I think you take the free yards.
  15. Interesting thought. What makes Hoecht so disruptive is his explosiveness and tenacity as he rushes from the interior. He is often walking guards backwards and collapsing the pocket from the inside. I don’t think AJ has that same burst to him, but he does have the length and size that would match what they had with Hoecht. The most likely change will be returning to using Solomon in the NASCAR package, like they did for the first six weeks of the season. I think the interior rush stuff from Hoecht is great, but also was his play at DE. And although Solomon could be the guy to come in to do that on clear passing downs, he will not give them the same presence as a rotation DE on the edge that Hoecht was providing.
  16. No Palmer No Jones No Johnson No Thompson Obviously without Oliver and a half without Hoecht. People ragging on McDermott are insane considering Phidarian Mathis and Cam Lewis were regular contributors for us this week. For all the chatter about how Reid is a better coach than McDermott, Sean deserves his props in this one. The Bills staff was superior on both sides of the ball.
  17. He wasn’t getting a jersey before Hoecht returned from suspension, so what makes you think he’ll get the nod now? My instinct is that they return to Solomon rotating in
  18. For the first 6 weeks of the season it was Solomon. Idky we’d expect anything different now.
  19. They could have been stacked better. Playing at the same depth like that on a long down and distance allows those guys to clear you out. They should have been leveled better in alignment presnap
  20. Seemed like we had a lot of guys lost in space in zones tonight. At some point, you gotta match. Those long developing conversions were so frustrating
  21. If we had traded for Rasheed Shaheed we would have won smh
  22. I’m so glad I shaved my balls for this
  23. He’s fine as a dime player in space or in the box but I would not take my chances with him covering the slot on the reg
