  1. Scchwartz sill collecting from the Lions.....yes, the Bills pay him, but he could have sat home for two years and cashed checks. Get gets nothing incrementally for being active w the Bills. (I think thats right, anyhow)
  2. My view is that Cousins would be the perfect add to compete with EJ and Orton next year. Tuel needs to be gone, and , maybe, EJ. I think the zoo that was Washington made it hard for Cousins to succeed. They gave up on him in Washington.....OK, and he has a lot more upside than Colt McCoy. And, the fact that the price is right is beside the point. Cousins played well for a number of games. And, with RG3 out a lot due to injury, he has a lot of playing time under his belt. We have done well with another refugee from Washington....Barcardi Rambo.....I would like to try this one also.
  3. Its an old story....Goodwin is Marrone/Whaley's pick...Graham was not. They kept THEIR guy. Probabily the wrong decision IMHO. Having said that, TJ wasn't great by any means. Now, the question is, is duribility a disqualifying issue? I guess it should be......and, even when he is healthy, they are not going downfield to Goodwin at all. This, however, is Hackett all the way....cannot penalize Goodwin for the lack of calling deep throws....can argue the OC doesn't have the stones to make those calls. So, I am saying, get rid of Hackett, give Goodwin another shot...use him as a receiver only.....and lets see if the world class speed can have an effect. He is the fastest man in the NFL, hands down....and all the opposing coaches know it!!! Ahhh.....how would you know whether Orton can make that throw. I am thinking that we haven't seen a verticle/downfield game at all from Hacketts. I am for a new OC who will call the occasional long ball. Of course, they are playing 15 yards off of Goodwin, we should be taking the easy 10-12 every time. But, we are not.......need to use Square pegs in Square holes.....but our OC seems only have his O......which is popgun short stuff all the time.
  4. Fun discussion, but, all I care about is winning both remaining games.....one at a time.....let the playoff chips fall where they may. Broadcast world hinting that playoff format will change next year, embarassment of the NFC having a playoff team with serious losing record being the motivation. (and maybe more money from TV)
  5. RG3 is EJ without all the good character traits. He is more worried about his commercial franchise (subway anyone?) than football...thats why Gruden is DONE with him. He and Marrone will not coexist......at least EJ is trying to learn the job...may not have the skills, but trying.
  6. It would help if they practiced on the field they play on...but, NOooooo, they go in the dome. Sammy did slip a lot in the GB game, and made another bunch of mistakes like penalities (downfield blocking, snap count wrong) and quiting on routes. I am not seeing the big hype for Sammy being all straight, I think they are marketing to some substantial degree.
  7. Unfortunately, Fred did it all against Green Bay with heart, Strength and moxie......and zero speed. Fred needs to be done in this league as a #1 back. He might be a thrid down back for another season....but he shouldn't be carrying from scrimmage. Very noticeable when you see Boobie and Brown run....they still have NFL speed. (yeh, Boobie does, looks faster than Fred)
  8. I think Marrone got 4 years out of the box....and he will not be a lame duck next season, should he last that long.
  9. No, EJ started sliding and not running.....he needed to getsome first downs with his legs....and he wasn't, either from coaching or fear of getting hurt again. EJ is a step down from Orton right now, and until he proves otherwise in a preseason game, he is bench material. The fact is Orton has a better arm and accuracy....EJ has a strong arm, but his inaccuracy is disqualifying in my view. EJ will never support a verticle game......I am, actually, done with EJ........would prefer they dump him asap, and draft another qb.
  10. The long one down the left side near the end of the game...Sammy quit on the route....thats not on Orton.....
  11. The O yesterday struggled. Orton's characteristics were not the issue, however. On one series, Fred Jackson dropped bot the second and third down passes to him......thats not on Orton. Sammy had a series where he dropped on, had a penality...another 3 and out. Sammy quit on a route late in the game, thats tough when you are throwing to a spot. Glenns problems yesterday.....all in all, Orton didn't stop the O yesterday, the rest of the team more than did there part....and I watched from the 45 yard line 30 rows up.
  12. Missing Searcy is a big problem.......I am not yet a believer in Duke Williams......we will find out today. If I were Rodgers, I would go after Williams big time, see if he can play.
  13. Byrd was a B player at safety..lots of picks, but not good on the run. He had instincts, but was slow......Whaley got it right.......offered B player money...but NO got it wrong. And, after two years now of not being healthy, I think that not getting Byrd to resign here was a master stroke.
  14. Hughes was a part time player last year....10 sacks, but none the less, weak on the run. Better this year for sure...and the listed starter. 9.5 sacks, and counting, a classic contract year performance. I will let others speculate on how much he will get from whom, hope its the Bills for the right price. Now, about linebacking.....everybody saying Spikes is gone......I have heard from Spikes when the games are played....he is out there making plays. On the other hand, Rivers is not....thinking he is the one to be gone. Spikes has a role on this team if he is willing to play the old vet and do what is needed when......not sure about Rivers....Bradham and Kiko great outsides, we have to see if Brown is OK in the middle....I worry that those three are all outside guys. Spikes is a for sure middle, lets keep one of those around. Great to be talking about talent......and, just to remind everyone....Randall Johnson has not seen the field I don't think....they are keeping him on the roster for some reason....I am thinking he is a stud also...just in waiting....
  15. I saw that watching live, and wondered at the no call. But, it fit the pattern of protecting the Bronco's at home, I figured it was just more "home cooking" to have a no call. BTW....that would have meant 15 yds for the Bills at that point.......just sayin.....
  16. Yep, we would not be at 7-6 without Orton. I don't see Manuel making that last second throw to Sammy in Detroit......in fact, I don't see Manuel making any long throws any time. Better arm is really the sort betlween, forget all that other stuff. Throwing accuracy is the #1 prerequsite for a pro QB, and Manuel fails on that. Strong arm, yes, accurate, not so much. (unfortunately) I remember last year, when Thad Lewis played, I was taken by how much better his arm was than EJ's........almost a replay of the step up we got when Orton came in this year. And, Thad, regressed in Buffalo...and is now backup in Houston, I think.
  17. Actually, that would have a positive, as I think that would settle the EJ dialog....don't think EJ can do it.......sooner that shows, the better. I wish the receiving corp could go public and vent their view. As a Season Ticket holder, I saw the games where the receivers were giving their gestures of frustration when EJ missed them time after time........Marrone had help in making the decision to bench EJ, he was getting an insurection out of the wr corp.
  18. "The strength of a good organization is a difference of opinion. When two men think alike, one is unnecessary. " WC Wrigley
  19. Marrone is right about EJ....and Orton is a whole lot better than EJ will (Likely) ever be. Marrone wouldn't still have a winning record with EJ at the helm. Of course, Marrone has made other mistakes, Hackett being the biggest......just like Chan Gailey picked the wrong DC's........of course, Marrone has done better than Gailey in picking DC's...first Petine, then Schwartz. In Chan's administration, neither of those two guys would have a cup of coffee in Buffalo. The thing is, Whaley's double down on Watkins was stated as a support EJ move.....got rid of the free route running Stevie (that was OK btw) The problem remains, EJ can't put the ball in the same zip code as the receivers, and the receivers know it. They just can't go public with that view. We have a real conflict here, and I think its possible Marrone will go, but Marrone is acutally more right than wrong......on a lot of things.
  20. Sorry, not going to see EJ or Tuel...I hope. When I pay to see the game...and I do....I want to see a pro.....at least Orton is a journeyman pro...can't say that for the other two. Remember, one of the reasons there was a QB change was an insurection in the Bills WR corp....that is EJ couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with the football. EJ has NO pro arm and is toast IMHO.
  21. Back to T Masters comment regarding an all out competition for the starting QB job next summer. Of course, there is going to be a competition, and another player or two will be added. Hopefully, a better one than Orton. EJ will get a look, but no guarantee like he did before the last camp. Marrone had big ones to bench EJ.....and it was a totally justified decision, as EJ, has not shown a pro arm yet. He gets one more camp.....and maybe another backujp season....but, IMHO, he is toast.
  22. I agree w this......he has high potential.....the 9 rating, but has delivered about a 7 this year. OK, he is a rookie...but, he isn't the guy that is going to save EJ's career.
  23. Well, I am always interested in listening to all this Orton talk....and, my view, is he is not as bad as many say, and not as good as some say. He threw 2 picks yesterday in must throw situations, as the ground game is non existent really. Not out of line with what happens in the pro game. He needs to do better for this poor offense to score......some of it is the scheme and the coaching. He gets his calls from the Helmet radio directly from Hackett. I have not noted a lot of noticable audibles.....none the less, he is the only pro QB we have.....EJ and Tuel are not up to the job. So, I support picking up another strong contender....let somebody beat out Orton. Orton is not particularily athletic....he can just throw, and read defenses. He is a journeyman, not a franchise QB ala Brees Brady etc. But, we have no others that are even journeyman.....that needs to get fixed...and, it might end up being.....another journeyman as they are what is usually available on the free agent market. BTW, did you see that Thad Lewis now backup for Fitz in Houston?
  24. NFL needs to implement electronic and audible whistles.(one device) Totally feasible w/ todays technology. Then, bs calls like the one on Pears could be reviewed. since 99% of fans can't hear the whistle...either in the stands or on TV...this would make the game more understandable. Kind of like the fake yellow lines on the field for the TV broadcast.....a visible indication of "end of play" which is what the whistle is intended to tell players.
