The Bills addressed one of their most pressing needs on defense taking Penn State pass rusher Aaron Maybin with their top pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. “It was a decision we were very happy with,” said Bills COO/GM Russ Brandon. “Aaron was someone we liked from the beginning of the process. It gives us an opportunity to have another pass rusher off the edge and he’s an explosive athlete. He’s a physical specimen and adding him to our mix makes us a lot better.” Bills Vice President of College Scouting Tom Modrak admits that Maybin is young having just turned 21 earlier this month, but sees the Nittany Lion pass rusher as a player who is just scratching the surface. “He’s good on both sides of the ball, right or left defensive end which is not always the case for players,” said Modrak. “His quick first step is equally good on both sides of the ball. And he can run. When he gets in the open field he can chase you down. He’s a speed rusher and can get up the field. He plays very, very hard all the time. Talking to their people there he has the same mentality in practice. The combination of those things made it good for us.” Bills middle linebacker Paul Posluszny, who is very familiar with Maybin’s game, applauded the Bills’ selection. “He’s a great pick for us and he’s going to do a great job for us,” Posluszny told Buffalobills.com. “I’m looking forward to having him on our team.” “He’s got long arms and a nice reach and so he’s got that quick first step,” said Bills head coach Dick Jauron. “If he gets near the quarterback, and we think he’s got the ability to edge and turn toward the quarterback and reach and get to the ball and we like that. You saw him functionally use those gifts both in the run and the pass game.” Maybin played at just 234 pounds for Penn State but bulked up this spring. He also was only a one-year starter. "We were all very comfortable with the production he did have," Brandon said. Brandon, Modrak, Posluszny and Jauron. Where are they now? It seems only Jauron paid the price. (and Bills fans everywhere)

Wow! Talk about looking for a silver lining in a pile of dogsh!t.

The Patriots also trade current players for premium draft picks. As examples, they trade Bledsoe to some loser team for a top pick and trade Seymour to another loser team for top picks. There is a reason that loser teams are losers. They make bad trades or fail to unload players before they lose value and they draft poorly! In addition, losers let their top free agents leave without compensation and they overpay to acquire mediocre free agents. The Bills have made about every error possible over the last 10 years and the examples are too numerous to enumerate. They failed to unload Schobel when they could have got something for him and currently they should unload Lee Evans before his value goes to zero. They won't do it though because that what losers never seem to recognize until it's too late.

Does anyone actually think the Bills will beat the Pats*
Billsguy replied to Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good call on the beat down. Oops! Wrong side got beat down. Where are all the other "I've got a feeling the Bills are going to win" posters. MIA -
Did we have even 35,000 in the stands yesterday?
Billsguy replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You stole my thoughts exactly. The game was totally irrelevant. Any conclusions drawn from a game like this are also irrelevant. I read some articles about how the defense has turned the corner, etc. blah blah blah! This was against a bad team that couldn't hold onto the ball with a horrible QB. This game proved nothing to anyone except the easily persuaded. -
How the heck does Modrak still have a job?
Billsguy replied to Marv Levy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"If Modrak is incharge of the quality picks the Bills make from 3-7 and the undrafted free agents then he is doing an amazing job." Amazing? The bar is so low in Buffalo! The team is 2-10 currently and has missed the playoffs for a decade! Amazing? How has this "amazing job" translated into measurable success? Measureable success means wins and losses. This is one of the big problems: accept objective failure as perceived success. -
Bills claim Dallas TE Scott Chandler
Billsguy replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess people don't understand that my post was not being critical of Buddy Nix. I'll simplify it for you guys. I was being sarcastic about the fans who thought that the acquisition of Merriman and the acquisition of a 3rd string TE were significant. They were not significant and I was simply trying to chide the fans who got all excited about these type of acquisitions. Some people think that these minor deals are going to make a big difference. I don't. It's too bad so many fans think being mediocre to downright bad is acceptable. I don't. I think too many people are afraid to face the truth about how dysfunctional the organization has become. A real fan doesn't stick his head in the sand and just ignore the ugly truth. A couple of close games and a couple of insignificant acquisitions and everybody seems satisfied. Too bad the critics of my previous post didn't get it at all. You are entitled to your opinion, but don't misinterpret mine and then criticize your false assumptions. -
Bills claim Dallas TE Scott Chandler
Billsguy replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah that Nix is a genius when it comes to picking up fringe players off practice squads! How did that Merriman "steal" work out? I've always heard that the way to the Super Bowl is to be able to spot journeyman players that other teams don't want. Sweet! -
Evans is being paid like an elite receiver. He is seriously not elite. The $9 million per year that he is stealing from the Bills could be utilized better. However, the Bills can't trade him because the rest of the league already knows he's not worth the money. He is an overrated player and he is not productive. Period.

Agreed. These uniforms are vastly superior to the usual ones.

this team isn't far off.

Ohio St. Prez says TCU, Boise don't belong
Billsguy replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NCAA has a playoff system for other sports and yet they refuse a playoff for football. It's all about the money generated by the bowl system. If something doesn't follow any common sense then you have to follow the money trail. Money has corrupted the NCAA school presidents and it has nothing to do with academics. It's too bad our universities are more worried about their sports programs than their academic programs. A national playoff for football would make all this controversy go away regardless of which conference you happen to be in. It makes too much sense so it probably won't happen. Maybe they think controversy is good for the sport? -
Buddy Nix wanted to prove again how "not smart" he is.

Ohio St. Prez says TCU, Boise don't belong
Billsguy replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ohio St. doesn't want to play Boise St. It would be interesting to see how the Ohio St. President would explain getting blown out by a little team from Idaho. Boise St could easily win the Big 10 or whatever they call it. It's more like the not so Big 3. -
This Stevie Johnson is one smart dude...
Billsguy replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You want to talk about a smart dude? How about Lee Evans. He has been in the league for about 6 years now, he gets paid over $9 million dollars a year and he has never been seen between the hash marks! Apparently he must have a clause in his contract that requires all of his pass routes to be within 5 yards of the sideline. I have never seen him catch a pass on a crossing route. Talk about smart!!! -
Bills earn another NFL milestone with comeback
Billsguy replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now if the Bills only had Carolina on the schedule we could have victories over the three worst teams in the NFL. Is that a record? I wonder what Steve Johnson thinks at night when he considers that Lee Evans makes $9 million per year? -
The following players would like to thank the fans for their monetary support: Evans, Lee WR $9,002,600 Stroud, Marcus $6,502,080 McKelvin, Leodis $6,243,330 Maybin, Aaron $3,450,000 Kelsay, Chris $3,600,000 Ayodele, Akin $2,756,240 Thank you fans for helping us feed our families. We hope you you got your money's worth. Please keep buying tickets!

I thought Shanahan was a genious?
Billsguy replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Redskins have four wins and the Bills have one. Does that make him 4 times better than Gailey? Would you still prefer Gailey over Shanahan? It is a pointless argument at this time and it doesn't take a "genius" (spelled correctly) to figure it out. -
Congrats on a 2 point win at home against a team that has lost an NFL record 25 straight road games! Whoo -hoo!!!

Maybin and Wang are ACTIVE

Never was and never will be. The next member of the Bills All-time Bust team. -
As long as it's not your money there is zero risk. Paying a guy to sit in a whirlpool is not smart. This was a waste of time and money for an insignificant player whose time has passed.

Merriman hurt during practice......
Billsguy replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree completely. This was known to almost everyone in the league. Why is anyone surprised? He is an irrelevant player (roster only) on an irrelevant team. Whoop-dee-do! -
Lock Johnson and Parrish into long-term deals
Billsguy replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In addition to Kelsay, don't forget about the $9 million being sent to Lee Evans every year. -
Bill Polian's last four drafts
Billsguy replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You might want to mention at what position in the 1st round thee players were taken. I get the impression that where you pick in the first round can make a significant difference. How many were top 12 picks? How many were worse than Maybin? None? None? -
This is the reason the Bills will win Sunday
Billsguy replied to JPicc2114's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the Bills would win 4 times this year. This is one of them. The Bears are poor and the Bills are due.
