  1. I guess you are much easier to impress than I am. The only stat that matters is wins and losses. I predicted that the offense would improve this year and I also predicted that the team would have a worse record. If your happy with the team's progress then who am I to complain? I'm not satisfied with pyrrhic victories. The Bills are 0-7 - that's not progress where I come from.
  2. I'm a little confused. Isn't this the same board that declared in pre-season that all the divisional rivals sucked and that the Bills weren't getting any props from the national media? The divisional rivals are 15-6 and the Bills are 0-7. It would seem that the national media knew more about the Bills than the experts at TBD. Whatever happened to those experts? The neat thing about this message board is that you can go back to the posts and read them again.
  3. Yeah, that's progress. They lost to a team that has gone 6-26 over the last two full seasons. Whoo -hoo!
  4. What is really moronic is repeating the same excuses every 3 years! Wade Phillips is gone- why complain? Gregg Williams is gone - why complain? Mularkey is gone - why complain? Donahoe is gone - why complain? Jauron is gone - why complain? Draft picks are horrendous for the last decade- why complain? Ralph Wilson has been the driving force for this failure. What's moronic is ignoring the past! "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana
  5. I disagree. The number one overall pick has much higher expectations. If you compare the performance to the expectations then Patulski reigns supreme. He had a very impressive college career which makes his pro performance so disappointing. Maybin had virtually no college career so his failure is more understandable. The Bills had 4 number one overall picks. The 3 that played for Buffalo were OJ Simpson (Hall of Fame), Walt Patulski(Bust) and Bruce Smith (Hall of Fame). ESPN rated the top 50 draft busts of all-time and Patulski was the only Bill at #27. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft08/news/story?id=3326109 Since that list was published you can add Jemarcus Russell. What makes the argument so pathetic is that the Bills have had so many busts!!!!
  6. Every couple of months this same thread comes back. The Bills have given the fans so many busts over the years it is awesome to behold incompetency in action. Thanks to Ralph Wilson. The picks of Mike Williams and Aaron Maybin were clearly very bad. The All-time worst was Walt Patulski! It isn't even close! I guess most of the posters are too young to remember. Patulski, the number one pick in the entire draft, was the biggest bust ever!
  7. The common denominator to all this mess is Ralph Wilson!
  8. Maybin is the classic case on why there should be an entry level contract for rookies. The entry level contract should be for a maximum salary not to exceed $500k per year(?) and not exceed three years. After three years then based on performance the salary could escalate to an appropriate level. If you produce you will be rewarded, if not, then you didn't deserve it. This benefits veterans who have earned their salaries over the years. It frees money to reward those who have performed well. It also protects teams from 1st round busts like Maybin. The specifics may change, but the new salary cap for rookies is almost certain to be in the next collective bargaining agreement.
  9. I thought the same thing immediately. I predicted 4-12 this year and frankly I'm a little worried I was too optimistic. However, the offensive spark I saw last week leads me to believe 4 wins are feasible. Here's the bigger question: Do you expect Nix/Gailey to clean house by next year to remove all the trash left behind by Jauron? Frankly, I expect major turnover because they could only do so much with the squad they inherited in one year. I think many of Jauron's draft picks will be sent packing starting with Maybin. Unfortunately, the on field product may not show significant improvement. Yikes!
  10. The Bills are 0-6. Pro bowlers? Are you asking a serious question? If so, the answer is a resounding NO!
  11. He is a major flop. The only question remains is when will he be cut? The problem with building through the draft is that your organization has to know how to do it effectively. There is plenty of evidence that the Bills have no idea what they are doing. There were so many red flags on Maybin it is a shame nobody at One Bills Drive took heed of them.
  12. The Bills defense is allowing 33 pts per game through six games. I wanted to see how bad that really is in historical terms. I had to go back to the 1981 Baltimore Colts who allowed 33.3 pts. per game. They finished that year 2-14. Almost 30 years of the worst defenses in NFL history and the Bills are shooting to be the worst. (Yes, I know it's only six games) Although from all the optimistic posts I've seen you wouldn't know it that this is one of the worst teams in memory. Is there anybody on this current defense worth keeping? Are the Bills are building their defense around "standouts" like Chris Kelsay? I see maybe only one DL worth keeping and no linebackers. Opinions on the keepers?
  13. It's Monday. Time to start another I've got a feeling thread! It's nice to now you haven't lost your sense of humor!
  14. Just a couple notes: One thing interesting about Bills fans is that after more than a decade of futility and mismanagement and having the worst record in the league, there is always the hope that next year will be different. When all else is lost, hope remains. The Bills defense is allowing the opposing QB's to an average QB rating over 110? This porous defense will make a long season even longer. At least the Bills offense provided a little entertainment value. BTW, Flacco had a higher game QB rating than Fitz.
  15. None of the QB's had a chance behind the horrible offensive line. It wouldn't make much difference. The point is that without an effective OL the QB of your choice is doomed. The OL is like the engine of the offense, the QB is like the steering wheel. Certainly both are important, but a crappy engine makes for a crappy car everytime.
  16. Regarding point #3 Have you considered who the teams you mentioned drafted? Maybe it wasn't the QB who led to the turnaround? Look at these 1st round picks: Atlanta Falcons 2008 #21 Sam Baker OT (same yr they drafted Ryan) Houston Texans 2008 #26 Duane Brown OT (yr after they got Schaub) Washington Redskins 2010 #4 Trent Williams OT (same yr they acquired McNabb) Miami Dolphins 2008 #1 Jake Long OT St. Louis 2009 #2 Jason Smith OT , (the yr before getting Bradford) P.S. they also drafted 2005 #19 Alex Barron OT As you can see the teams mentioned all saw the need to use their premium 1st round picks on OT's! Until the Bills see the light and use their top picks on top notch lineman then they will continue to go through QB's like they are toilet paper and the team will continue to be a laughingstock! And still every other post talks about the next QB the Bills should draft! Sheesh!!
  17. It wouldn't be a legal contract since both parties have to be mentally competent to enter into the agreement. No jury would ever conclude that you qualify.
  18. Every week somebody predicts the Bills will win and every week they look like a fool. If a broken clock can be correct twice a day I guess it's a matter of time before someone gets a prediction correct. I guess then they will be a genius just like the broken clock. If you are so confident in your prediction then how much money are you going to bet that the Bills win straight up? Nothing? I thought so.
  19. You'll never know and even if you did what are you going to do? Get pissed? Fire him? The Bills organization is deeply dysfunctional from top to bottom. If the owner doesn't do anything about it, then what's the point?
  20. All you people who think the Bills have "nothing to lose" or "this is a no-brainer" have no idea what you are talking about! How do you think the Bills got in this mess? Bad drafts and signing over the hill overpaid free agents! Let's keep making the same mistakes over and over again and expect different results. Insanity!
  21. Take this to Minnesota where somebody might care.
  22. If he's not doing the job then why is he starting? This is a results oriented game. I guess the Bills had the luxury to ignore the offensive line at the top end of the draft. There is no defense for the bad decisions being made at OBD.
  23. The Bills defense is the worst in the league. They are yielding over 31 pts. per game against. The opposing QB's have averaged a QB rating of almost 120 against the Bills and we are not talking Brees, Manning or Rivers either. Why is Ralph Wilson so quiet? He hired the bums who have allowed the Bills to stink and sink this low. He hides in Detroit and counts his money and every week the Bills continue to embarrass a proud region. They should rename Ralph Wilson Stadium now and call it "The House that Ralph destroyed" What a shameful legacy! "Nix brought in Dwan Edwards, Reggie Torbor, Andra Davis, and Akin Ayodele. 3 of the 4 are starting." Exactly and now the Bills defense is the worst in the league. Nix hasn't a clue and every week he proves it with his decisions past and present. They are getting worse under Gailey and Nix.
  24. Sentence by sentence. Yes, IMO signing Kelsay for that money is ridiculous. Why are you happy locking in an average player at best? BTW he is a veteran player now. Why do you assume he will be a backup? How can you possibly assume the Bills will have good drafts someday? How can you say there is benefit to knowing a system when the talent level is inadequate? Where do you get the idea he is working for a low price? Honestly, you are living in Buddy Nix dreamland.
