Chris Simms Has Zach Wilson Ahead Of Trevor Lawrence?
machine gun kelly replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone brought up earlier about retro grading teams drafts. I love that series on NFLR, as it’s usually a Blitz (the show) topic where they grade the draft from four years ago. They rate on an A,B,C,D etc. draft. It’s a very interesting series, and the primary guy was Mark Dominic, the old GM from Tampa. He’s a very interesting guy with Bruce, the main host. Needless to say our drafts prior to McBeane on a four years later have not been the best, but they were fair. They consider, who’s still on the NFL whether starting or a role player, regardless if they are still on the team that drafted the player. It’s part of their off season series each show does to basically fill down time. You may not always agree with the hosts, but they make several good points trying to quantify a draft. This year should be fun as it’s the 2017 draft, but I know I think it’s Late Hits does something like this, but would be the 2018 draft. Its interesting to see, because for example we don’t still have Wyatt Teller, but he starts for the Browns and was a 2018 draft guy. To me that’s fair given they are a national show, not biased by a local market like WGR. Anyway, you Sirius guys have a listen when they do it. If memory serves, it’s usually done after the draft. By then FA is over, the draft is over, coaching hires are over, and even the UDFA market is over. They can then focus on this kind of topic. -
Cynthia Frelund's Analytics Based Mock Draft

Hey Sherlock, open the attachment or use this crazy thing called GOOGLE! I’m just kidding eman, I know you have a good sense of humor. The only way I see us taking a RT (assuming Dawkins is our guy) is we’ve passed on a D. Williams extension. To me, this is a mistake. I haven’t seen much on Ettiene, but if he is remotely like McCaffrey, I’d love it. That guy is so dynamic like another said Kamara. These guys have the ability to be a traditional RB, but also are a major receiving threat. Considering we may not upgrade our TE group, at least improve our short game. I don’t understand gambling on a draft prospect, when we have a proven RT already and still have some flexibility in reduce, restructure others. Williams had several very good years in his professional career, and one tough injury to get over, but he’s proven his worth. On the other hand Moss is kind of a one trick pony, and Im losing faith in Singletary. It’s not just his lack of ability to get through the hole, but his dropped passes this year drove me nuts. I know it wasn’t a lot, but c’mon, how hard is to catch a pass maybe a couple of yards over the LOS. One side note that is promising is NFL reporting by women has evolved from not just some eye candy as a sideline reporting, but some very good analysts and informative. If any of you have listened to NFLR, one regular that is interviewed about things from the Browns is Mary Kay Cabbott. She’s great and I see that as progress in 2021. I know women have been reporting in the NFL for awhile, but it continues to progress and is great for gender politics. -
Chris Simms Has Zach Wilson Ahead Of Trevor Lawrence?
machine gun kelly replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watch some college ball, but not to the level of acting like a prognosticator of future success. I do agree with Simms to stop fantasizing about a chance to get Wilson or Watson. I’m at the point of being sick of hearing about these ideas. If it happens fine (although I still doubt it), but these franchises would be fools to let these generational QB’s go. I don’t think it’s crazy Simms likes one QB over another. I can see the Jets pulling the trigger on one of these QB’s and give up on Darnold. I don’t see many teams giving up much draft capital for him. -
Bills submit rule proposal change on interviews
machine gun kelly replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I was flipping through this thread, I thought the same thing. Owners are always in such a hurry to find their next guy, it seems like they would just find a coordinator or another coach, college coach, etc. to circumvent the proposed rule. The only way to exact real change is all head coaching hires from anywhere cannot start until Black Monday including the entire interviewing process. That levels the playing field for the avg. 7 new hires every year. It will never happen as the owners will never go along with that change. It’s too bad as that would be an excellent rule change. Regarding the coaching of Daboll, that to me is overblown. We held the Ravens to 3 pts., and you can say we were a little flat in the Colts game, but Allen like all good QB’s covered it up. The ugly truth is the Chiefs were the far better team that day. Besides, all four of our WR’s were injured. That’s what brought us to the AFCCG. Daboll can’t snap a finger and create a running game and excellent TE play. The Chiefs didn’t care about those two facets and exploited it. -
Eagles submit rules change to onside kick
machine gun kelly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What the fweak is that? All Hail Sam Cass! Hail Sam Cass! Sorry Ridge, that is one of my funnier scenes from the Big Bang. Couldn’t help myself. As far as the idea, it’s stupid (IMO). Even if on sides mostly fail, it’s one of the fun things about the game. Talk about the brass Sean Payton had doing that in the SB against the Colts. How boring is 4th and 15? There are a bunch of dumb rules changes proposed every year and most are shot down. I seriously doubt this one makes it. -
Ed, I know that idea was floated on multiple outlets prior to the pandemic, so maybe that factored into the conversation. I honestly don’t know as it pertains to the site. WFT is an improving team, and they have lots of $ in the off season, so not a walk in the park. Having it in Buffalo is great. Thanks for sharing Shady. I would think the ratification of the 17th game is probably a formality. What’s interesting is how many if any pre-season games there will be. I’ve heard 3, but might just be a negotiating please to eventually get the 18th game and they go down to 1-2 pre-season, or maybe none. The league will get a lot more $ for regular season games so this should be interesting.

Gabe Jackson to be released
machine gun kelly replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure GB. I was so impressed how Williams handled on his own with little help TJ Watt. If we can find a way to restructure, reduce, etc. I would want to extend him. I guess this is the new normal we discuss every release. Seems to be an excellent Guard. Not sure we could afford him. These releases continues to remind me how much teams like the Jags, Jets, Pats, Colts, Broncos, and WFT are going to be able to do a makeover like we haven’t seen pretty much ever. At least with several of these teams, they don’t have a quality QB. If somehow Reich can resurrect Wentz, that is a team to be concerned for 2021. They are a very complete team so it will depend on Wentz. They certainly have the cash to make a couple of targeted improvements on both sides of the ball. -
He is a despicable person and 14 years is light. I read the article and it seems that is the maximum for their plea deal. For those making jokes, you should be ashamed of yourselves. There is nothing funny about treating elderly and homeless women in such a predatory manner. I’ll say prayers for these women so hopefully they find some peace.

I’m not really sure the Cardinals will be the best in the West as we don’t even know how much the Seahawks will spend in FA, and the draft. SF’s top talent is coming back from injuries to key players, so AZ may improve with another year for Murray, but it’s not a lock. I pay a little more attn. to AZ as my middle son fell in love with them when he was 7. Long story about the Cards being in the SB in Tampa that year.

Bills prospect TE Tommy Tremble
machine gun kelly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, it seems like he is projected to be a late third rounder from several mocks, so if you think he is worth it, then ok. We’re not going to plug every hole in the draft, and we don’t have hardly $ in the cap for FA. There’s only so much they can do in restructure, reduce, or remove. -
If/When we sign a FA TE, who's most likely
machine gun kelly replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Joe, I’m not sure what they would want, but no more than a late round pick. He’d benefit from a lot more playing time. As far as the list above, as much as I like Henr, he costs too much. Jonny Smith would be nice, but he too probably will cost too much. -

One guy who I think could be a good trade and is young is OJ Howard. He has one year left on his contract, and the main guys there are Brate and Gronk. If the Bucs really want to keep Godwin and Barrett, that’s a lot of $. Howard was supposed to take the next step this year when he was hurt. He’s not injury prone, just had an injury this year. He’s shown flashes in previous years, but there is only one football and they have Evans, Godwin, Brate, Gronk, and AB. -
Joe B article speculates John Brown will be cut
machine gun kelly replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ill agree half the league will purge some contracts, but only 11 are under water as of now. A recent sign was the Texans starting Center for three years and arguably one of their better and consistent lineman was just released. The significance was the Texans were already under the cap by $9 mil. -
Ken Johnson/Pinto Ron Surgery

Thanks for the updates. I’m very happy to hear Ken made it home. For those that know him, please tell him he has a sea of TBD’ers saying prayers for his quick recovery. -
I just heard the other day on NFLR Fitz camp is still looking for an opportunity to compete for a starting job. That doesn’t surprise me as there are some teams like the Pats that don’t draft high enough to get a solid prospect out of the draft unless he is a development guy. I can see him being a placeholder for a team while they develop a guy. It’s too bad as my fandom would hope his love of Buffalo would be enough to accept the backup role. With his size of a family, and the amount of $ he’s made for all of these years, I don’t see coaching in his future. Very few players do it. if they don’t retain Barkley, it’s a matter of whether McD thinks Davis Webb or Fromm are good enough to win a couple of games. If not, maybe Tyrod, but I would think he and Dalton would want too much. This isn’t the year for us to invest $7 mil. In a backup QB.

Christian Wade, will we ever see him?
machine gun kelly replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was a stretch him learning American football in a couple of years. If they maintain the 16 in the PS, maybe he earns a spot. I know he’s a fan favorite, and if McD thinks he is better than the next guy, he’ll stay. -
Thoughts on Curtis Samuel
machine gun kelly replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think another WR makes us better. An effective running game and an effective pass rush with 4 makes us better. We have a lot going for us. One of the better secondaries in the league, an offensive line with excellent pass pro, even if run blocking is not the best, and an excellent passing game. -
Hardboy, the NFL HOF started in 1960. You’re correct there are a lot of players from the inception that never made it in the hall. I’m not the best historian, but i know there are guys from the 30’s etc. that will never get in and that is too bad. Even the senior committee tries their best, but not sure if they found everyone that innovative for their time. The century committee was a good start last year throwing in 20 or so total.

Chongli, first I want to commend you. A healthy debate is great and why so many of us keep coming here. Of the rookies this year posting, you have put out very thoughtful well informed, and researched threads. Also, several guys this year for some reason have been veiled or hidden agenda guys not really Bills fans. I’m not the guy to call people out, and it’s fine for people that love this team to question decisions. You on the other hand have started several threads that were thoughtful, seems like you do love this team, and wanted to say thank you. Regarding the thread, my first quick pass as I’ll probably read later tonight in it’s entirety is very interesting. I don’t doubt Gore gets the yellow jacket. He’s the third all time rusher. I doubt anyone is going to let him get another 726 yards to get past Payton. It’s really too bad we mismanaged this team to lose Peters. It speaks to the buffoons we had in charge at that time. I don’t have a problem with guys still early in their career not being a lock like Diggs. Barring injuries for him and White if repeating year after year will get there. Maybe Allen someday. That’s a conversation for a decade from now.

Only 2 teams put in requests to interview Daboll
machine gun kelly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it that or does he realize he can’t fix the run blocking mid season and Moss was hurt later in the year. They ran well against the Chargers and Pats. I think they need to adapt their blocking style and yes they need a more explosive back to make it work. My guess is he relied on Allen more because he didn’t think Singletary could get it done, and neither did the Chiefs. I could very well be wrong as that happens on occasion (or more 😇). We’ve all said to get to the big game we need a running game, and an effective rush with four. I like to be a glass half full, so the positive is we get another year of Allen and Daboll together and should be able to be creative with their plans for next year. They have the entire off season to review all of their games and see what they can improve upon and what they need to tweak. I’m betting not as much personnel, but a change in blocking scheme. Heck, they might even bring in a consultant. There are a lot of line coaching gurus out there that could consult and assist. -
Only 2 teams put in requests to interview Daboll
machine gun kelly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This topic came up in the beginning of the football year if memory serves when we won the first four games or maybe earlier. Some on this board were calling for his head the previous year, then others were saying he’s going to be a head coach at the end of the year. I stated a couple of times he’ll need to show over a couple of years and he will most likely get a strong look. I also said eventually Frazier would get another shot if we have two great years. I was roasted for those opinions and that’s ok. Most people are polite in their disagreements and makes it interesting hearing opposing views. I’m still of the opinion both are coordinators if they replicate their performances to another SB run whether we get there or not, will receive strong consideration. I firmly believe we will have a very good year in 2021, amd Im prepared we lose one or both in 2022. It somewhat reflects what I’ve read here in that maybe other owners want to see consistency. Daboll was considered by the Chargers in my opinion as he has a relationship with the GM as they go back to high school so they are familiar with each other. The Jets have watched up close what Daboll’s schemes have done against them. Bottom line is if he continues to have a leading offense in the top three and is given partial credit for Allen’s ascendence, then he will be looked at by the avg. 7 teams that fire their coach a year fir a position. Besides no one knows if he turned down the Jets given that dumpster fire. What can elevate him is it’s commonly known McD’s strength is defense so Daboll may work under McD’s direction, but it’s his creativity and decision making that helped this team. -
Available players released from other teams
machine gun kelly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s kind of like Bass in the beginning of the year, but for different reasons. Bass had the gutters and needed to calm down. Now we have one of the better long kickers in the league and he’s cheap. Klein on the other hand didn’t have the system down, so it took awhile and then he improved. There’s no doubt Milano is better, but it just seems the Bills are giving subtle notice they won’t compete with the teams that have tons of cap space. I hate it, but it’s the reality of a good team. They are going to lose people at times. I hate it, but it’s true. Im also very hopeful on Dane. I don’t know how many resources we need to spend this off season on these spots. I’m more concerned with a pass rush from the front four, and a running game. My only last interest is TE. Now whether it’s the running back or the line, I don’t know. That line was excellent in pass pro all year. I certainly don’t want sweeping changes, but I can hope and it’s just hope Ford showed some promise as a run blocking Guard. Hap, you said it about Morse, he was not meant to be a mauler, but a pulling Center. I could see Dawkins, Ford, and Morse used differently in the run game pulling to creat more seams for the RB’s. It would be nice to see that improvement, so we can invest a little more on D. Williams to shore up the line. -
Available players released from other teams
machine gun kelly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, it’s liars season so I wouldn’t believe much. The only reason to consider another WR is if negotiations (if they are happening at all) with Brown’s camp to reduce or restructure fails, and they feel compelled to release. Besides, is it really sound to bring in a person who’s been injured several times. We have other positions where we could use value players, and even at that, I don’t know we’ll be that busy in FA. Not at least the first wave. That’s reserved for the Jags, Jets, Pats, Colts, Broncos, WFT, Carolina, etc. These guys will get value buys this year with their cap space, depending upon how many have free agents they want to extend.
