  1. And??? A great O-line is not made up entirely on skill. There were cases of this, but they won those type of games as much as they lost them. There were many games where they knew they would just have to gut it out and run the ball 40 times against a good hard nosed defense and at the end of the day, came out with +200 yards rushing, including carries from Kenny D and even the fullbacks.
  2. I agree, they need a seriously bad-ass DT, and there is not one currently on the roster. There are some good compliments, but not a "#1" guy.
  3. Do you realize that putting two big fat slob pluggers in at DT, while still playing this defensive scheme/philosophy would actually result in the defense overall playing worse? They're not going to give up on the scheme after 6 games either. If they decide to ever tweak the scheme to allow a plugger DT to work out, it is something that will be done in the off-season.
  4. I agree with Mcbride that the Early Nineties O-lines were great. Led the league in rushing multiple years (that's great) , could get a yard when we needed a yard, and gave Jim plenty of time for many of those deep developing routes on a very consistent basis. If that ain't greatness, I don't know what is. If you're comparing to the HOGs, the greatest O-line of All time, maybe your standards are too high. I did like your other points though Bill side note: I think T-Henry has finally surpassed the mark you set for him on the yards he will gain for the rest of his Career
  5. re: #3 those two have really played pretty well overall if you've watched all the games (which I assume you have). IMO - The areas of concern right now for Marv to address ASAP are: LT, RG, DT(again), CB(assuming Clements goes), and FB. The areas to address in the near future are MLB, DE, and maybe TE again. I like the progress JP has made still, even with the occasional frustrating quarter or half. His accuracy and reads have improved drastically from last year. They need to stay the course with him.
  6. Very good points there Wraith. I do like the progress shown by our young safeties too , if I was able to add to the list. They haven't been perfect but have showed the type of progress you speak of.
  7. I can only vouge for the game that I was at, which was the vikes game. There were plenty of openings in the short passing game. Not so many on the deeper routes, although the medium hitch was open all day. I would certainly expect more help from the WR corps on a game to game basis as well though. One thing I do keep in the back of my mind too is that this passing game is based purely on timing routes. It's a tough scheme to learn and execute well without a year or 2 in the system. That's not to say we could'nt be doing better at it though.
  8. Peters has all the makings of an LT whos worth a damn. What we need is a solid RT to step in there IMO.
  9. I'm seeing too now that Gandy's failings in pass protection unfortunately outweigh some decent production he's shown in the running game. Might as well get Peters in the spot he will ultimately be taking over sooner than later.
  10. Done... Found it a little sluggish in page transition compared relatively to some other sites out there. (I'm on my corporate network where speed generally is not an issue)
  11. Some of you don't get it. The ONLY reason you think Spikes is talking about this all the time is because some media guy is bugging him about it daily, and putting the responses in print. Would you prefer him just ignore the reporter, say nothing, and walk away?
  12. Remember also that some of A.S's best games have come against the best tackles in the game (ie. Pace, Ogden, etc.), not just against inferior guys he is supposed to beat. Outside contain is also more important for a 4-3 cover 2 DE than in a man to man setup.
  13. I like the Blue on Blue a lot, like I said... well kinda I'm also not worried about them being "dynamic" or not.
  14. I'm with you ...
  15. This sheep has won 4 out of the 5 weeks in his office pool Baaaaaaaah
  16. He's very good, you're right, but the Bears go about 7 deep with legitimate defensive linemen.
  17. I thought the O-line played very well in pass protection today considering who they were facing. Not so good blocking in the running game. JP tried to force some balls into coverage today, which hurt because there were guys open underneath. The 4th down fake IMO was a bad call and a call that was made too early in the game. The corners today were far worse than our safeties. Special teams weren't special at all.
  18. Lee Evans = Torry Holt (well not yet, but close) to me...
  19. Ok , now if the kids in the back of the room would stop fooling around.... Lets go over this once more: 1- TKO suffered, and recovered from an achilles injury to the point where he was ready to play during the regular season. 2- During the first regular season game, TKO suffered a Hamstring injury. He is now suffering from the effects of the hamstring injury. He is still recovered from the achilles injury. Do we know at all how hampered/slowed he will be from the achilles injury? No. These two injuries are not related. He was already to the point (according to the staff and his own account)of not favoring one leg over the other, which has been known to cause secondary injuries.
  20. This is really approaching absurdity. I guess it should be expected though considering all the attention span and memory deficiencies 'round here. With that said I agree that Crowell is doing a fantastic job out there!
  21. ? I am gullable by stating a fact?
  22. Right because YPC is an individual stat and in no way has anything to do with the teams you've played or the blocking.
  23. You don't think the investment in Fowler is worthwhile? We should take a guy who is playing well and gelling with his line-mates and dump him for Koppen? Koppen is a good player but this doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
  24. Nice photos Rockpile! I especially liked the shots of the protection scheme in action. Doubles on the Dt's and Single on the Ends with Some chipps from the TEs and Backs. We were in sec 226
