Who has a better chance of making the 53?
eball replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Duke's odds of making this roster are extremely long, and I also think Daboll will use the TEs a lot more. Kroft's and Croom's injuries may have been a blessing in disguise, allowing Knox and Sweeney to get all of those reps in OTAs. I'm more intrigued by which TEs make the final 53, because I see legitimate arguments for all five of them (including Lee Smith). -

So you're saying you didn't understand my point that an athletic, big TE can serve the role of a "big" WR, particularly in the red zone? Ok. Thought you were smarter than that. -

The TEs are big guys. Dawson's Creek is 6'4" I think, and as athletic as a WR. -
The Bills' D is loaded if Oliver comes as advertised and Murphy is fully recovered from his ACL. Excellent starters, good depth...Tremaine in his 2nd year and perhaps the best secondary in the league, top to bottom. I loved reading recently that McD's focus for this defense is increasing the "physicality" of their play. I want to see this defense punish opposing offenses. Milano hasn't been overlooked by anyone that I've seen and he could garner Pro Bowl attention this year. I know people are somewhat worried about the pass rush and lack of a true threat outside of Hughes, but I think the Bills are going rely on getting interior pressure from Oliver and also do a good bit of blitzing with the LBs and DBs. There are some "ifs" with respect to everything panning out, as there always are, but this unit looks like it should be one of the league's best.

Tyreek Hill Battery & Child abuse thread
eball replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I heard earlier this week is that Hill’s story to the Chiefs “has remained consistent” even though other stories have changed, so they are letting it play out. -

So THIS post gets a "like" and an "awesome" from SoTier and BillsVet...hilarious. You may think you're right about a lot of things, BADOL, but you're dead-ass wrong about how I view the Bills and life in general. I enjoy the hell out of the Bills, this board, and even to a certain extent sparring with the likes of you. It's fascinating to watch how people interact and wonder what they are like when not behind a keyboard. You go on with your self-aggrandizing takes and I'll sit back, shaking my head and chuckling... -
Ok so I know your agenda is that you don't like Allen -- you beat that drum all last year -- but stop implying that I'm making excuses for him when that is clearly not happening.
-
Yes, it was a different era, but Randall Cunningham only rushed for more than 800 yards once in his career ('90), and Steve Young never rushed for more than 540.

Never in my life have I seen someone with such a zest to prove himself right. You're a legend in your own mind... -
I guess I'll watch this one today. Seems pretty hyped. Beware the "playing at home" factor.

So? That doesn't mean he knows how to coach and develop QBs. Am I off base here? I think it has been pretty well established that Allen didn't receive great coaching at the QB position while in Wyoming, and he wasn't one of those "groomed to be a QB" kids. In any event, it's irrelevant for reasons stated earlier in the thread. He's a smart kid and has almost two years of NFL prep and NFL coaching...time to start showing significant progress.

Good stuff. I think (hope?) #2 will come naturally as Josh is no longer seeing things for the first (or second) time. #1 is about confidence -- knowing the system, knowing the players, knowing the defense. #3 is about Josh's brain and his ability to learn that hero ball isn't the way to go.

New Turf at New Era Field - Question? ** ANSWER!!
eball replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You red end zone, red helmet people need to give it a rest! Aren't the friggin' color rush uniforms enough? -
Yep. I've been big on the "Allen never got good coaching until now" bandwagon but by the time the regular season starts he will have had roughly 20 months of preparation and coaching to be an NFL QB and it's time to see the results.

You know a Bills thread has jumped the shark when it becomes a Flutie v. Johnson debate. Regardless of what anyone thought at the time, LOL at BADOL still trying to defend that miserable QB today. -
I don't know about any slump or myth, but comparing how Allen will go into this season with how he went into last season is freaking night and day. I think we should all be surprised (if not shocked) if Josh doesn't take a big jump forward.

Sabres schedule released (Bills/Sabres weekends)
eball replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, along with the three other weekend pairings that means half of the Bills’ home games have a Sabres game on the front or back end. Is that really bad? -
John Warrow’s High Praise For Beane & McDermott Regime

Nearly 89 pages of this thing and it still all comes down to a simple issue no one can prove: Group A: Going into the 2016 offseason (after they fired Rex) the Bills were talented and a new coach/GM didn't need to tear down the roster. They should have continued to build with Sammy, Dareus, re-signed Gilmore, kept Darby, and drafted Mahomes or Watson. If they had done that we wouldn't be going into year 3 "hoping" things work out. Group B: A new coach and GM should have the right to mold a team in their image, and many players who were on the Bills' roster when McBeane arrived didn't fit what they want to build so they moved those players out and began a reshaping of the roster. They drafted their QB a year later and have now completely overturned the personnel. With solid drafts and lots of FA activity this offseason the team is poised to take a large step forward. That's it. Group A will never be proven right or wrong because what they want didn't happen. If the Bills don't show marked improvement this season and become a regular playoff participant none of it will matter and Group B will be disappointed as well. The biggest gripe I have in this whole discussion is with those who act as though McBeane are not following through on a specific plan -- as if they're just shooting from the hip and are clueless. Whether you like or agree with the plan is irrelevant; there is most certainly a plan, and these are not stupid men. Either option was possible. Nobody is absolutely right or absolutely wrong. Let's try and get another 50 pages out of this thing. -
