  1. You are misinterpreting my comment as though you believe I am suggesting the O'Reilly deal was the primary factor in the Sabres' turnaround. I am not. It is merely a very visible example of culture-over-talent as playing a significant role in the makeup of a team.
  2. I think it’s clear - both by what has happened here as well as in St. Louis - that dumping the talented-but-gloomy O’Reilly was a culture-over-talent move that has paid off in spades.
  3. I think it was borderline brilliant to get a somewhat raw guy like Edmunds in a year Beane and McD knew the Bills were unlikely to truly compete. He gets a full season of coaching and as everyone knows, he has boatloads of talent. I'm not worried about whether or not he wins DROTY.
  4. Airing vague grievances over social media is usually the best way to resolve issues.
  5. Until he appears in a magazine ad wearing panty hose this thread is nonsense.
  6. Wow, the defenses certainly seem to be turning the tide lately after the first nearly three months of ridiculous offense!
  7. Even though I don't consider myself a practicing Christian these days, I find most of the traditional Christmas hymns enjoyable. Not a big fan of "pop" Christmas songs but a few have been good, like Springsteen's Santa Claus is Comin' to Town and U2's Baby Please Come Home. Edit: oh, and I can't believe I forgot to mention Mannheim Steamroller. Love listening to their stuff during the season.
  8. Ok, well I'm glad my memory isn't completely failing me, but also I wouldn't think that was the issue then. Thanks.
  9. Too early to call out a "must win" tonight? Man, after all of those good feelings during the winning streak, and even some good play in the four games after, they need to get the taste of Saturday's debacle out of their mouths quick.
  10. Wasn't he promoting some sort of tailgating antics earlier this season, or am I remembering that incorrectly? He may have been told to knock it off.
  11. He's killing me. How do you look around the league at what aggressive play-callers are doing and still have this mindset? It's mind-numbing. I hope somebody has his ear and can get through to him. Maybe having more talent on the offensive side of the ball (and an NFL-worthy OL) will give him more confidence? Anyway, it's my single biggest issue with the team right now. Well, and Crossman.
  12. I have not read through this thread. My immediate postgame thoughts were as follows: 1 -- The fact Crossman is still a coach on this team is mind-boggling. We can't even line up correctly, and both the return and coverage teams are awful. Hauschka is the only positive on ST, period. 2 -- McD is a terrible game coach. The decision to let a gimpy Hauschka attempt a 54-yard FG rather than going for 4th and 7 on the +37? That was Marrone-like in its stupidity. 3(a) -- I'm not going to trash Allen for the turnovers. He is, literally, a one-man show (see 3(b) below) and likely feels he has to do everything to get this team a W. He almost did it. He progressed again in this game -- how many big-time 3rd down throws did he make? 3(b) -- This may be the worst NFL OL I've ever seen. Castillo needs to go as well. 4 -- Tre White got served up a big, heaping slice of humble pie yesterday. It will be good for him in the long run as he was starting to believe the hype just a bit too much. 5 -- I like Sam Darnold and give him credit for a couple of big time throws in the 4th quarter. The Allen/Darnold matchups should be fun for years to come. I'm disgusted by how the Bills lost yesterday -- particularly McD's decisions and the horrid ST play -- but remain optimistic going forward if McD somehow learns from these mistakes.
  13. Yeah, but to his point, if you hit 50% of your throws and they are for decent yardage the chains still move.
  14. I actually think the refs are more likely to go overboard in favor of Hughes today. It wouldn't be a good look for them to appear to be targeting him after this nonsense. And clearly the ref did something wrong or he wouldn't have been placed on leave. If I'm Hughes I go out during warmups today and shake every official's hand, and make it clear I'm not holding grudges.
  15. Really good win for UB. The Bonnies’ arena is a tough place to play and they just came out and blitzed them in the first half.
  16. In the stands. I've told this story many times but we were at the top of the stadium and watched folks leaving, then coming back. Probably the greatest sporting event I've ever attended for lots of reasons.
  17. In the words of Bill Parcells -- you are what your record says you are. Saint Doug is a middling head coach. Sean McDermott is just beginning his career and deserves a few more seasons before we claim he's worse than the almighty Marrone.
  18. Oh look, another "advanced stats" guy crowing about how he was "right" about Allen as a passer but grudgingly acknowledging his athletic ability. Yippee. And Lamar Jackson "clearly" 2nd in this class? Really?
