  1. I read an article on the Athletic a few days ago that looked at teams who have started quickly, trying to predict which ones will backslide...thankfully they didn't think the Sabres are one of them!
  2. Sabres haven't won 4 in a row since 2014...come on, boys! FYI, they're currently on pace for 100 pts., which would have netted them the #1 WC last season.
  3. I expect the Jets, Broncos, Cowboys, and Bucs to fire their coaches. Still not buying that Harbaugh is out in BAL or that GB will move on from McCarthy. Of course, CLE won't keep Greggggggo. Absolutely foolish for any team with a 1st year coach to make a change (ARI/DET).
  4. I'm still alive in a 565 entry pool that is down to 23. I'm one of only two players left who can take the Chargers (at home vs. Denver) so that's where I'm leaning while I hope for a lot of upsets elsewhere. Lots of risky games out there -- even though Oakland has been awful I can't imagine picking Zona. Jacksonville is due for a bounce back and they destroyed PIT twice last year. Philly's backs are against the wall at NO. Really tough week.
  5. Iowa pretty much manhandled Oregon. Will be interesting to see how both they and the Cuse come out after similarly disappointing outings.
  6. The expected matchup, but not the expected time...whoops.
  7. Yep. Beane said it himself -- they could have done some "tricked up" things to try and win immediately but made the decision to bite the dead cap bullet now so they can start fresh. They aren't "intentionally losing" -- i.e., tanking -- but they are making decisions pertaining to the future rather than 2018. And I'm ok with it. The team plays hard for McD and the culture has been established. With an influx of talent the building blocks are in place.
  8. That is really a hilarious statement, and shows you haven't watched the Bills' defense at all this year. Since the 1st half of the Chargers game no QB (except maybe Luck) has performed well against Buffalo, and all of them are better QBs than McCown. Buffalo has lost football games because of horrid offense and ST play. Period. If you believed the Jets would win last week -- as most sane adults did -- it wasn't because you thought McCown would carve the Bills up, but because the Jets would eat Barkley alive.
  9. Don't kid yourself -- Skinner knows the value of playing on Eichel's line...he's going to want to stay.
  10. Yup, UM-Nova was one of those early season eye-openers. My Heels have to play at Michigan on 11/28 in the ACC/B1G Challenge -- that is going to be a tough one and should be a great ballgame. Edit: and I just checked UNC's overall schedule -- holy cow. Nobody can say Roy only schedules cupcakes. Over the next month and a half (before the league season starts) they will play Texas, Michigan State or UCLA, Michigan, Gonzaga, and Kentucky. Their "breaks" come against Davidson and Harvard.
  11. Games like last night are what this team has been lacking for years -- the ability to "steal" a win from an excellent opponent when you aren't playing your best. Just awesome.
  12. Ok, @Gugny, since the question was directed at me I'll answer. It's really simple; I just hate it when bad things happen to good, white, Christian people who don't get the same opportunities everyone else seems to receive. My heart bleeds for Nate Peterman; all he ever really needed was a chance.
  13. If he only had the chutzpah of Kirk to cheat the system. Make a million bucks for falling on your ass lately?
  14. You say “gloat,” I say “sighing in relief.” There’s a difference if you aren’t simple-minded.
  15. After reading some of these responses it’s clear to me that many of you are, to quote DC Tom, idiots. I don’t “hate” Nate Peterman. I wish him the best in his future endeavors. But the last thing I feel for this guy is “sympathy” for what he has “endured.” He’s a million bucks richer and is smart enough to find a wonderful career that doesn’t involve throwing an interception every 9 times he throws a football. Sorry many of you are too dense to understand that.
  16. Seriously people; a 5th freaking round draft pick who got numerous chances to play in meaningful NFL games, and shat himself at every opportunity. Get real and send your sympathy to someone who needs/deserves it!!!! (oh and by the way he probably earned close to $1M for the effort)
  17. I didn't say they'd do it, mind you, but after ten games we are fielding the #1 defense now and appear to have at least some competence at the QB position. Plus, we're playing teams who are all trending rapidly downward. It would make for a fun W16 matchup, for sure...
  18. Hell yes it does! Peterman should have been gone weeks ago -- he was only here because of the organization's incompetence in not bringing in anyone else.
  19. ...and when we look back years from now we'll be scratching our heads all the more. To see what a journeyman QB who hasn't played in two years could come in and do with two weeks of practice was the final "it's not you, it's me" moment for these star-crossed lovers. I give McD credit for realizing he couldn't trot Nate out there again, and we saw the results. The only question is whether Sean will break the news over dinner, or will he just send a text?
