  1. The only good thing you can say about how the QB room was managed last season is that they made sure there were no unreasonable expectations for Allen. I agree that looking back, all of the experience he gained last season is invaluable, and I do think Josh will be farther along entering this season than if he had held a clipboard all of last year.
  2. That is correct. A player designated as PUP must be promoted to the active roster by week 6 of the regular season or placed on IR, and a player on PUP does not count against the 53.
  3. Did I just see a Sully article linked on the front page of TBD? Of course I won't click on it, but the "preview" seems to suggest Sully thinks this team is "different" and will take a big step forward. We're screwed.
  4. Tell that to the 37 players who don't make it onto their respective NFL teams' regular season rosters. Every coach in the NFL values preseason to some extent. Perhaps four games is too many, but it is not a "waste of time" to anyone except fans who only care about the stars and no-doubt starters.
  5. No injury, just didn't dress. If you've noticed this weekend, a lot of "no doubt" starters have been rested by teams. Brown is clearly the #1 receiver for the Bills, based upon his performance in practice and via every media member who has commented on the subject. He and Allen have had lots of work together in camp.
  6. Thought both of these guys really helped themselves last night. I just re-watched the condensed version of the game (I was there live last night) and Lacey was all over the place. Beautiful sack and FF for Johnson also.
  7. Has anyone checked in on ScottLaw to see if he’s ok?
  8. lots of OL and ST penalties last year, primarily of the “we suck so we hold” and “our position coaches suck” variety.
  9. Nah, after two TD drives they'll give the 1s the rest of the night off.
  10. @Mr. WEO yeah, not really the point. Smith is a respected veteran and if he's imparting some of his NFL wisdom to a rookie it's very difficult to cast a negative spin upon that scenario. The article isn't about who will play TE for the Bills or how much trouble they've had with injuries/poor talent.
  11. WEO, you're an odd duck. I have no idea why you find it so important to belittle an article talking about how a veteran is helping a rookie. No, Lee Smith isn't an all-pro TE but he has stuck around in the NFL this long for a reason, and if you really think there's nothing he can provide to Sweeney I don't know what to say. Just a bizarre take. The article, and Smith's actions, are an affirmation of the culture McD and Beane are trying to create.
  12. This is North Cackalacky, man...we've got a nice mainstream pocket in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area but outside of that it's as Alabama as it gets.
  13. Everyone knows this was a Rex pick. As for the grade, I think "incomplete" would be the appropriate mark. He "bought in" to McD's process last year and seems to be working very hard knowing this is his chance to earn a 2nd contract somewhere. He has been a very solid run defender.
  14. Wow. I just became a huge Lee Smith fan. What an incredible attitude.
  15. Kevin Harlan's PBP call of the streaker during a game was one of the funniest things I've ever heard an announcer do.
  16. Have you guys not heard Ed Oliver say that? It cracked me up. He said it within the last week, after the first preseason game.
  17. The biggest room in the house is the room for improvement.
  18. As ANY defensive coach will tell you, sacks are the "flashy" stats fans and the media love, but they'd much rather know they are getting consistent pressure on the QB, forcing him to move "off his spot" and hurry his throws. It's pretty basic. OBVIOUSLY you'd like to have both.
  19. "Just getting pressures" forces incompletions and picks. If you don't believe me, ask McDermott, because he's who said it (among other respected NFL coaches).
  20. So Thad Brown (can we PLEASE stop quoting him?) says Cam is carving up the Bills' D, then multiple tweets about great D plays by Buffalo.
  21. Disagree, the kid has had to fight for everything. He remembers.
  22. And Josh is one heluva smart guy who not only wants to win but to shove it in every naysayer’s face. I love it. He’s the perfect QB for this team.
  23. Gesundheit.
  24. Quick recap: they really only watched the offense because of the way the fields are set up. Josh looked great and they loved his decisiveness with the ball. Beasley's immediate separation is amazing. Ray Ray showed good hands. Andre Roberts "will have a big role" in the offense -- can run all routes. OL talk -- Bates got some snaps at C, might be able to make himself valuable being able to play any position on the line. Morse looks very close to a return.
  25. Captain Jack
