Buffalo vs New England Wildcard Game: 8:15 PM Saturday Night

The Belichick factor playing hard with the spread of only -4.5 in this game...that's a good opportunity right there. I expect that to move between 5-6. -

Don’t sleep on the Steelers in KC. That defense could make it interesting. -
Number 1 ranked 2021 Buffalo Bills Defense. Yards and points!
eball replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Spot on, Gunner. What the Bills did on defense this season is indeed something to be recognized and appreciated for its rarity. I don’t know if I agree with the 90% number in your example, but it sure seems more likely than not these days. Thankfully when the Bills win they win by double digits! (I joke, because you’d expect for there to be close games in the playoffs) -
Daboll's Play Calling -- The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
eball replied to HIT BY SPIKES's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s an old inside joke at TBD. When McKenzie was acquired there was another similar player named McKittrick that some folks thought was obtained (maybe he even was, briefly, I don’t remember). It went back and forth for a bit, but some of us get a kick out of still calling Lil Dirty McKittrick. -
Interesting way to describe Josh Allen - High floor - High Ceiling

Compare Josh’s stats in those “weather” games against his opponents. He has significantly outplayed the competition. -

Idiot Broncos. KC doesn’t scare me like they used to. -
Re-thinking the hiring of color commentators

I think I fall more into this category as well. I only notice them when they are really bad. But I do admit, an analyst who can break down a play afterwards and show me the intricacies of what was happening is appreciated. -
Week 18: Jets at Bills - a W wins the AFC East!
eball replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Anybody else notice that the Bills have a punter on the PS? I was looking at the practice photos and was like “who is Jamie Gillan #6?” Interesting. -

Seattle tried to trade Russell Wilson and draft Josh Allen in 2018?
eball replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
There are lots of stories popping up, NOW, about how much interest there was in Josh Allen THEN. Color me skeptical. Lots of GMs and scouts trying to save face.- 34 replies

In that case, a game plan built around running the football would be absurd. I hope Josh lights ‘em up early and often and we see Mitch in the 4th quarter to mop up. -
It's all good, brother, I simply get a kick out of those fans who are obsessed with the comp pick formula and allocations.

Week 18: Jets at Bills - a W wins the AFC East!

Clearly, it's not. They may have good individual talents but they are obviously not playing well as a unit. I really don't care what the JESTs do...if the Buffalo Bills of the past four weeks show up on Sunday, taking the Bills and laying the points is a steal. -
I've always wanted to win the comp pick championship...

I started trying to complete this exercise and found myself in complete awe of the 18 year period from 1981-1998 of the SF 49ers. The 49ers won five SBs but it could (should) have been eight or nine. They were dominant. It's still unbelievable the Bills and 49ers didn't match up during our run. They lost five NFC championship games during that span. And they did it with two HOF QBs and three HCs, which is what sets them apart from the other dynasties folks talk about. During that span the 49ers' average league rankings were 3.7 on offense and 5.7 on defense. OVER 18 YEARS. Are you kidding me? The only run that compares, IMO, is the Pats*** run of eight straight AFC championship games (and three SB wins) from 2011-2018. Dallas' "run" was ironically only really four years; it just happened to coincide with ours.

I've gotta say no to this, particularly given what the cost would be. -
538 analysis: Bills underperformed with schedule set up to dominate
eball replied to beebe's topic in The Stadium Wall
This analysis is completely correct and something most of us acknowledged all year. The middle of the season is a mystery, and a tale of wasted opportunity. The good (great) news is that something woke the team up during halftime of the Tampa game, and now all bets are off. This could now be the dominating force I expected. -
flashback 2018 espn draft coverage of Josh pick
eball replied to First Round Bust's topic in The Stadium Wall
You know next to nothing about the Bills' process. Correction: you know nothing about the Bills' process. Allen was always their guy. Who plays QB for your team? -
Just what the league needs...more ass-chin.

If someone hasn't already said this... ...it's several years too late.

My first reaction to this was "so?" -- then I remembered the 4:25 start. lol -
Crappy draft. First season post Thurman, Bruce, Andre. Johnson named starter. That said, they were 7-4 and probably on their way to the playoffs despite the worst ST in the history of football when Sam Cowart -- who was having an All-Pro year -- ruptured his achilles in the first half at Tampa in a game the Bills were controlling. They lost that one and spiraled from there. It was the beginning of the drought. Takeaways: Wade Phillips shot himself in the foot with the knee-jerk reaction of firing DeHaven after the Tennessee playoff loss. He brought his buddy in who was a disaster. The culture was shot and their talent got them to 8-8.
