  1. It is unfair to both players to compare them to each other. They came from completely different football backgrounds and aside from both being "tall and big" the similarities end there. EJ Manuel caught a bad break when he was injured in the preseason his rookie year, but he has readily admitted he was not mentally tough enough to deal with the adversity he experienced. That, in my opinion, is what really separates Josh from everyone else. I'll admit I don't know much about EJ's upbringing, but Allen grew up in a tough but supportive environment and nothing was handed to him. He had to fight for every opportunity he got on the football field and was not going to let anyone or anything stop him. His rookie season was very tough at times, but he fought through it and the organization put the right people around him. Could EJ Manuel have had a different career in a different organization? Sure. But Allen is a freak. A unicorn. I do believe he would have risen to the top no matter where he wound up. He was with Jordan Palmer before he was drafted so that part of his development would not have changed, nor would his immense physical talent.
  2. They are just too entrenched in opinions that they seem believe represent facts. Scott doesn’t really offer anything particularly insightful, in my opinion; his mantra is that McD and Beane only know defense, despite the fact they identified and developed Josh Allen and they’ve put together one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL. He’ll cite Kelvin Benjamin as his evidence. The glass is always half empty with him. I find it amusing but I don’t dislike him. He owns it. Badol is obviously a smart, thoughtful fan who analyzes the game. I have learned things about football reading his posts, and he’s even occasionally humorous. Unfortunately, he also has much too high an opinion of himself for my taste. If he thinks something is or should be a certain way, he rarely (in my experience) is willing to even consider any contradictory thought. He says he is trying to promote discussion but all he does is demean and belittle those who present any sort of challenge to what he has proffered. Maybe he really is the great, funny, footloose and carefree guy he keeps telling us he is, but “the lady doth protest too much” comes to mind. But whatever, we’re all here because we share a passion for the Bills. It should be a fun year for us all, even if we disagree over our opinions regarding what they should or shouldn’t have done with personnel. It certainly would be nice if everyone treated each other with some measure of respect. I know it’s difficult in a nameless and faceless online forum but it’s a worthwhile goal. Go Bills!
  3. I don’t believe it’s evident at all. Acquired draft capital to move up and select Josh Allen - the most important player on the roster Drafted running backs in three consecutive years in the 3rd round or higher Traded a 1st round pick for Diggs Drafted Knox in the 3rd round Signed Beasley, Brown, Sanders as FA WRs A lot of people want to believe the Bills have overly concentrated on defense because they associate McDermott with being a defensive-minded coach. I don’t think the facts support that assessment.
  4. Yes, and folks on here immediately called him out on it. I didn't even watch the segment because it doesn't interest me. You think the Bills' offense sucks after Diggs and Knox and would plummet without Josh. I think they're still probably a playoff team, just not dominant. Hopefully we will never have to find out.
  5. I think when you bring up the first BUF-NE game last season as evidence of anything offensively you’ve lost a good bit of credibility. I get it. You’re the contrarian, the worrier, the guy making sure we all know the house of cards could collapse at any moment. It’s what you do. Josh Allen may be the best QB in the game. To suggest it’s a “problem” that he elevates his teammates and sometimes single-handedly leads his team to victories is pretty funny. It’s fine, you and others can bemoan the “middling” playmakers the Bills have while most outside observers disagree. You be you.
  6. Not sure whether the OP is aware, but we are just fans who have no impact on the field and we’re allowed to do whatever the f*** we want.
  7. You miserable effers...the new narrative to trash the Bills is to say they're nothing without Josh. As if the Bills did NOTHING to get and develop Josh. Yeah, the Pats*** all those years would have been nothing without Brady. The Packers would have been nothing without Favre...or Rodgers. Christ. Great QBs elevate their teams. Film at 11. P.S. The Bills have a stinking good roster, great coaches, and a competent front office. Not that you care.
  8. Best news to come out of any OTA/minicamp: nobody got hurt. That's about it.
  9. Don't tell ME what to do
  10. Oh geez...I'm also thirsting for as much Bills news as possible, but when you start quoting "stats" with guys wearing helmets and shorts I really have to draw the line.
  11. That is an awesome comparison, I think it fits how I feel about Josh perfectly as well. I couldn't have dreamed I would get a chance to see a person/player like this playing QB for the Bills ever again...was beginning to think the 90s would be my best memories. No longer.
  12. I think this is the year Kumerow's number is up. They'll find another backup who can take his ST duties, and they'll keep another speed WR instead.
  13. C'mon, the "Matty Ice is rejuvenated" and "he's throwing like a 27-year-old" takes are already all over the Twitterverse...
  14. I don't think Kirwan and Miller are lazy. I see your concern about outside WR depth. I think you also add Knox and Cook to the overall passing offense equation, though. OJ Howard is a wild card. There are a few unknowns like Austin and Stevenson for speed...of course nobody is counting on them. I guess my overall perception is that the passing offense as a whole looks pretty strong to me, with decent depth. Outside WR is a concern if Diggs/Davis go down, but there are not many teams who can lose their #1 outside WR and "be fine." It's good to acknowledge potential areas of weakness on a team projected to go all the way.
  15. SiriusXM's Kirwan and Miller (some like them, some don't) evaluated all teams' WR "rooms" over the last week or so, and they graded the Bills overall WR corps at 17 pts out of 20. It was obviously one of the highest grades in the league. I don't think everyone agrees with you on the depth angle. Crowder is a legitimate NFL receiver. McKenzie has shown his worth. Shakir is viewed as a steal of the draft. I think they'll be fine...and I agree with you regarding Austin.
  16. That's an interesting thought. Internally, Goodell & Co. may be fuming over what the Browns did in signing the miscreant Watson to that mega-deal and don't want to give them an "easy" out (i.e., Mayfield). Not saying that's what is happening, but it isn't a crazy notion.
  17. I agree that I can’t see a path to Baker ever suiting up in a Browns uniform again. That bridge has been burned beyond recognition.
  18. It is Watson’s sheer arrogance that sickens me. If one or two women file suit against you or make complaints, you say what he’s been saying. But 26, with multiple other unfiled complaints? Umm, dude, you are the problem, not them. It’s not true that he can’t “apologize” because the suits are pending. He could certainly apologize for not realizing that his “completely legitimate preferences” (in his mind, not mine) were offensive to some. But that’s not how people are coached to act these days. I won’t get political, but this is the era of “deny, deny, deny” and then try to actually change the definition of what “truth” is. I hope Watson never sees the field again.
  19. I, for one, don't care whether he's practicing or not. Dude is a pro's pro who knows the defense like the back of his hand. If the smart thing to do is sit out the practices and just be in the meetings while the contract gets worked out, it's no skin off my teeth.
  20. Yikes. Best wishes to Kim and the family.
  21. Per the tweet-machine.
  22. Apologies if the answer to this question is buried somewhere within the thread...when are we to expect some renderings of the new digs?
  23. So, I had to share this bit of news with my Bills fan brethren…we had a couple over for dinner on Sunday; really good friends we’ve known for over 15 years. The guy does some college sports broadcasting for the Big 10 network and ESPN. I tell him my wife and I bought tickets and are going out to LA for the opener. He says, “a company I do some work with has a suite at SoFi; let me reach out to them and see what’s up for that game.” Yesterday afternoon, I get cc’d on an email from my buddy to his assistant confirming two tickets in their suite for the game. Needless to say, we’re f***ing pumped!
