Hard to disagree with that.

Bills 2022 Season Game Best vs Least Interesting
eball replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just looked at their schedule. It's a beast to start. Open with Pats***, then at Baltimore, Buffalo, at Cinci. It would be awesome for the Fish to start 0-4. -
Bills 2022 Season Game Best vs Least Interesting
eball replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you have to throw the W3 game at Miami up there as potentially one of the "best" -- if only because the Fish are, as usual, being overhyped, but they have undergone massive changes on offense and as long as they don't crap the bed the first two weeks this will be billed as an early season AFC East "showdown." And then we'll wipe the carpet with them. -
As others have answered, it is rare for NHL draft picks to contribute immediately unless they are top-of-the-round generational talents. With three first-rounders the Sabres can continue to stockpile talent for development. The upcoming season will be better but probably not quite playoff level...I think the organization is counting on a couple of goalies in the system to be ready in 2023. I'd prefer they go out and get a veteran #1 now, but that doesn't appear to be their thinking.

Awesome. Good stuff.

Jessica Pegula's progress in Wimbledon 2022
eball replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this is pretty accurate. I've watched a few of her matches. I never come away thinking she does anything great...she's just a very consistent all-around player, which under the right set of circumstances can be good enough. -
No, but I do think that this time they want to be viewed as "in the right" in the public eye. As others have noted, the NFL has worked tirelessly to attract women to their product. If they don't push for an indefinite suspension much of that effort was wasted. The only thing I believe weakens the NFL's case (for indefinite suspension) is their lack of discipline towards owners for some pretty significant indiscretions. If I'm arguing for the NFL, however, I keep coming back to the literal mountain of complaints against Watson. If a "where there's smoke, there's fire" argument was ever going to take the day, it's in this case. The dude is a creep, and the NFL needs to do everything it can to keep him from being a face of a franchise. Playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right.

Was just going to say the same thing.

It’s so funny. All you need to know about Bills fans on this forum is to read this thread in which two fans have spent countless time and effort trying to convince us all that the team picked to win the Super Bowl is a paper tiger in danger of imploding before our eyes. We’re doomed!

Jessica Pegula's progress in Wimbledon 2022
eball replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall
The #2 seeded woman lost in the 2nd round. Huge upset. Pegula is in the final 32 and her next opponent is ranked 80th. Round of 16 or bust! -
Thank you for this. It's the best breakdown and explanation I've read. I understand your position.

Oy vey. I'll step out of this discussion. I didn't realize the Bills had a mediocre player at MLB who doesn't impact games and can be replaced by a 3rd or 4th rounder easily with no drop-off. I'll see myself out.
-
You suggested the the D's level of play would not suffer with Klein replacing Edmunds. Perhaps for a game or two, but over the long haul it would negatively impact them (see: Tre White). Edmunds is one of the players on the Bills' defense opponents actually game plan around. For you to say he "doesn't move the needle" tells me you don't really understand what's going on out there. I get it, he doesn't have a lot of sacks, forced fumbles, or "splash plays" everyone wants to see, but I guarantee he affects what offenses are doing against Buffalo far more than you know. You can talk about "prioritizing" who to re-sign all you want, but implying that Edmunds leaving is one big nothing burger isn't very intuitive.

She won her 1st round match at Wimbledon earlier today.

Sometimes I wonder if you guys watch any other football teams. Edmunds is a “mediocre” player? smh…
-
Wow. Just wow. Literally, the Bills' opponents consistently talk about how his presence affects what they do. Is he a great run stopper? At this point, no. But your flair for the dramatic statement often leaves you looking a bit foolish.

I don't know how anyone could ever dispute this.

Ok, I found the article. Here's the entirety of Frazier's comments: ------------ “In all of our conversations, it's all about just being himself and playing on a high level, like he always does, and not focus it on the contract part of it, but just going out of control and what you can control,” Frazier said. “He's been a tremendous player for us. He makes a lot of plays. He leads our defense.” In 15 games last season, Edmunds had 108 tackles – seven for loss – and one interception. Frazier sees the natural next step for the former first-round pick. “I think – and he knows this – you want more splash plays,” Frazier said. “You want those big plays in ball games. That play he made against the Texans, the interception he came up with, that was a huge play in that ballgame. It really helped propel us along the way to a really good performance. And more plays like that.” ------------ So now we have some context. I think my original point still stands. Yes, of course, the Bills are hoping Tremaine makes more of the game-changing plays but it is clear they don't believe he has been a "disappointment" thus far in his career.

If he did I missed it, sorry.

Bills fans will always need a whipping boy, no matter how good or how bad the team is. My own belief is that Edmunds has many more responsibilities in the Bills' defense than those "traditionally" associated with a MLB. I don't study the games enough to comment on what others say about his "lack of instincts" but what I see is an athletic, disruptive player who clearly impacts what the opposing offense is trying to do. Edmunds being in the right position to force a QB to throw a pass just slightly differently than he wanted to, resulting in an incompletion, tipped ball, or INT doesn't show up on the stat sheet. I've heard players talk about his enormous "presence" that makes teams have to plan around him. I have not once heard McD or Frazier make the comment "Tremaine needs to make more plays." They've said that about lots of other young defenders. Some want a thumping MLB who stuffs the run. That ain't Edmunds and never will be. Continuing to hope he becomes that is an exercise in futility.

I'd hitchhike, wearing your Bills stuff. You're bound to get picked up.
