I hear what you're saying and I agree with your take on Flutie's arm being shot but accusing Flutie of "fumbling" the Miami playoff game away is conveniently ignoring the fact that he took a massive blind side hit from Miami's defensive line on that last offensive play of the Bills. A hit that should have been picked up by Thurman. Any Bills QB past or present would have been separated from the ball on a hit that hard. In addition, it was an earlier fumble by Moulds right at the start which should have been a long bomb TD that was also killer. Flutie' s NFL career was mediocre, I agree but had far more interesting moments than that total fraud Johnson.

If you pay attention to Haushka's kickoffs , he still has a leg strength. This isn't like what happened to Steve Christie or Lindell at the end where the leg got weaker. I think his problems are akin to a golfer losing his concentration on his swings. The problems are in his head and they are transferring to his leg. Or they could be lingering effects from his injury to his hip vs the Jets. I really don't think he has been the same since then.

Tell us your favorite Ref moment today...
Livinginthepast replied to r00tabaga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes the officiating in the NFL is by and large poor and they have bad games, but this game was horrendous. One of the most bias officiating jobs, I've ever seen. Its like Jerry Jones had a suitcase of cash delivered before the game to the Refs lockerroom . There weren't just 2-3 bad calls but at least 5-6 really bad calls and a couple of bad no calls. The Jerry Hughes penalty on Prescott was utterly ridiculous but the topper was the NON Dallas TD. Not even close!! To add icing on the officiating's cake of excrement was the Bills challenge of the terrible spot near the end of the game. Every replay showed Gore landing with no knee down on the 32 yard line. Yet even after replay review the ref somehow marked him back at the 33?? It didn't matter by that stage but what the hell!!! -
Would you rather? (A super hypothetical)

I remember all 4 SB losses and the playoff losses going back to Ferguson and co losing to Fout's Chargers. They all stung. But the SB's sting the most. We should have won the first one easily and if better prepared could have taken at least 2 out of the following 3. But it was a poor planning and lack of adjustments in game that did us in at every turn. The worst non SB playoff loss is that game in Cleveland in the 1989 season (which was the Harmon dropped pass). In the end I would rather have them lose in the AFC championship than blow another SB! -
Former Bills Coach Hank Bullough Passes at 85
Livinginthepast replied to Purplebulldog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Reading his obituary gave me a lot more of an appreciation for the effect of this man overall on the NFL. Its too bad that his time in Buffalo was one of the worst for the franchise ever. But it really looks like he would be a good candidate for an NFL life doc. -

Any Updates on the Foster Injury?
Livinginthepast replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Foster finally showed us something yesterday and was effective on all three plays he was used and then the poor guy gets a hamstring injury. Bad luck. Its time for Duke to step in on the big stage and show that he belongs on this team. -
Around the NFL Week 12

Another phantom call goes the Pats way. What a shocker. But Dallas would have screwed it up anyway. -
I've always felt such sadness watching this dude. We were all broken after the SB losses but this guy may have died of heart failure before the game even ended!

One power that Brady has that has not diminished whatsoever is his ability to intentionally ground the ball to avoid a sack with total impunity from a flag. I saw him do it in the pocket again Sunday night. None of the officials close by dared to even make a move for the flag!

3-3 over next six games and we make playoffs
Livinginthepast replied to Watkins90's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If our coaches can rise to the occasion and come up with a great offensive and defensive game plan for Dallas, I think we can win that one. We need to force the Cowboys into mistakes which they are prone to. -
Brown was a great signing. He has been an absolute stud this year. My only fear is that teams will soon learn to focus on him as Josh's main outlet and neutralize him or that he gets injured. He really isn't that big a guy and he plays almost every offensive snap. Hopefully he can stay healthy with the amount of pounding he takes on a regular basis.

Its always been Brady's quick thinking on his feet and ability to understand what he is facing (in an instant) in a defense that has been his greatest asset. I don't see any decline there at all. His pocket presence is still decent and he still is able to avoid the sack for the most part. Passing accuracy and strength has dropped off but he is probably at the level of a 35 year old Qb now. As long as he has weapons on offense and a great D, he unfortunately will continue to dominate.

Duke Williams on a milk carton
Livinginthepast replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
3 games (one where he catches the winning td) then is exiled to inactive status is a fair shot? Duke has caught 6 out 7 thrown his way but is benched in favor of Foster? or Roberts whose stats are terrible. Does that make any sense? Nobody is saying that Duke should replace Brown (who has been an absolute stud) or Beasley (who has been good as well) but he should be given more time than Foster, Roberts or Mckenzie because as I said he is a big body who can make contested catches. You totally missed my point about Duke. You don't need a receiver like him to open or get separation for him to be effective. As for your point that there is no bias vs CFL players that is laughably untrue. The rare player that does get a shot back in the NFL after a CFL stint has to ALWAYS work twice as hard as regular NFL player to prove themselves and that's being going on since the days of Warren Moon. You literally just proved my point with your line about running starts. -
The Dallas game will be the ultimate statement game for Bills season and perhaps Allen's career. Get annihilated like the last thanksgiving game in Detroit and the critics will write us off as frauds. But win against the Cowboys in front of that national audience especially if Josh can finally put it all together and get 300 yards plus and you have a springboard to another level.

Was Wallace hurt for the 4th Qtr - - or - -
Livinginthepast replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wallace can make plays but is really inconsistent. On the plays he gets burned on, he looks like he has no idea what he is doing. A great QB will exploit him every time . -
Duke Williams on a milk carton
Livinginthepast replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Duke being on the inactive list is one of the stupidest decisions this coaching staff has made. I thought for sure that once they jettisoned Zay that Duke would get a fair shot. He proved himself vs the Titans and caught the game winning TD on the type of play that he excels at. If he is nursing an injury then why not say that? why the secrecy? Duke being on the field gives Josh another option and a huge body who can make those contested catches in traffic that Beasley or Brown may not be big enough or strong enough to make because Duke is 50lbs and 4-6" taller than either. Today I noticed at least 3 or 4 passes that Allen made that were incomplete not because of a bad throw but because the dbs went through our receiver and forced a drop. I really hope this isn't some continued anti CFL bias against Duke by the organization because that would just be asinine. Duke should be a great option on 3rd down or in the red zone so why isn't he being used??
