Congressman Shot At Baseball Practice
dpberr replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This is how the civil war starts. These sorts of events. It's been fanned in an era where it's "ok" to show a beheaded president and it's "ok" to have a play about his assassination. Where it's ok to show up at a town hall meeting and scream, unhinged, at your elected official. This is all on top of the already percolating anger in most parts of the country at stagnant wages, little job growth, the expense of healthcare, rising debt. You know that some "right" loon is already plotting a response to this. Then the left will have to respond with something bigger. Once that's happened, you'll start having people showing up to town halls and protests heavily armed, looking for a fight. Then you'll have Americans firing on Americans with police officers stuck in between. Now you'd think that the political parties and the media would see how this all plays out but they will only fan the flames. -
Sammy Watkins. If he's injured in camp, he won't be a Bill come September.

Jeremy Maclin (Agrees to 2 year deal with Ravens)

This made my day. Love it. -
Bills kicking tires on a 1 year deal for Fred Jackson...FWIW
dpberr replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Should have never been cut in the first place. Come regular season, the team was devoid of leadership that year and it showed. -
Jeremy Maclin (Agrees to 2 year deal with Ravens)
dpberr replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It'd never happen but I'd love for the Bills to troll the fans (or delight them) by having a season ticket ad campaign that'd have: A picture of George Seifert relaxing, reading a paper at the Buffalo airport; A picture of Mario Williams and Buddy Nix enjoying dinner at Tempo with a picture of another guest in the background with his finger on a laptop that'd represent the F5 frenzy; A picture of Rob Johnson and Doug Flutie doing something exactly alike in the picture to follow the RJ=DF? conversations; Wade holding a headset but not actually wearing it; And some of the other conversations of lore on here that I'm forgetting. -
Jeremy Maclin (Agrees to 2 year deal with Ravens)
dpberr replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My guess is if there is a contract between the Bills and Maclin, it will be a 1 year "prove it" kind of deal similar to what Jeffrey did with the Eagles and bet on himself for 2018 free agency. -
Wade Phillips. His firing laid the foundation for the last 17 years, starting with Donahoe, Greggo, the release of the Big Three, Ted Washington and Pat Williams. If Wade had stayed after the MCM, it would have been an entirely different decade of Bills football.

Tiger Woods: the downward spiral continues

This guy has been a lost soul since his dad passed. He really needs to get out of Florida and away from the "lifestyle." -
At what point did the 90's nostalgia wear off for you?
dpberr replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nostalgia? Hasn't really worn off for me. I'm sure 90% of this board pines to live days like that again. Have you ever wondered how you'd feel if the Bills became annually successful? How your perspective would change? The decisions made in the aftermath of the MCM is where I felt the Bills were no longer "the" Bills and you could feel a palatable shift in the franchise. -
Her career is completely over. If CNN of all news networks cans you from an event that's over six months away, you're super, ultra, fantastically...done.

What type of coaching do you want to see this year?
dpberr replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The ability and willingness to make changes at halftime. If "your" scheme has been discovered, and it will, don't be a slave to it. Coaches like BB prey on the coaches with the stonecutter mentality to game planning. -
Rumor- Bills will entertain trade offers for Watkins?
dpberr replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps they've been told by the team doctors that his foot will never be 100 percent and prone to reinjury. I suspect that thats the case personally. You'll fix it, heal it, promptly reinjure it. -
Whaley goes out with class. Buffalo Media...not so much.
dpberr replied to racecitybills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the opinion pieces about Whaley's interview made the journalists who wrote them appear small. As a casual reader, and one who does not routinely read their work, IMO, the pieces came across as if written with personal animus. -
The Bills can afford neither the deliberate "rebuild" or "tank job." It's playoffs or bust at this point. The 8-8 team is dead last in operating income or what you'd consider "profit." Creating a worse on-field product, even temporarily, means a lot more Pegula dollars going into the business. According to the Forbes 2016 valuations of NFL teams, the Bills had just 26 million in profit. The 31st team, the Detroit Lions had 64 million. That's a big gap just between the cellar dwellers. The only way the Pegulas improve that is by making the product more desirable. To me, such low profit is an effect of not being in the playoffs for nearly two decades.

Offered a new job...Looking for your advice/opinions
dpberr replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
IMO, I wouldn't chase a temporary position even if it has some positives. It's risky. There is no guarantee that you will be offered a full time position at the end of the contract. You can do an incredible job and still not get the offer due to the health of the economy, the health of the sector you work in, budgetary constraints, new management, etc. Further, whether anyone likes it or not, we're due for a recession. Signs abound that the economy is unsettled. I'd keep the job you have and if unhappy, keep looking for a permanent position. -
Are you still here? Famous people who need to go away
dpberr replied to shrader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
+1. Professional weirdo these days. -
I'd be done with the NFL product if the Buffalo Bills were no longer a franchise. Outside of the Bills, my interest in NFL football has diminished from where it used to be. I'm bored with the product.

The WORST thing about Bob Villa is he was able to masquerade as a knowledgeable craftsman all those years on This Old House and got away with it. That guy couldn't frame a door without Norm telling how to do it.

There's no slogan! Don't we *need* a slogan?

May Movies: Guardians Vol.2, Pirates 5, & Alien: Covenant
dpberr replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
GotG #2 was very good. Probably the last movie I saw in a theater was the first one. I'd say that the Captain America and GotG are more entertaining than the other ones. I have no idea how they are going to cram the Guardians and the Avengers into one movie. It'll be like a 1970s disaster movie. I won't see Alien:Covenant because at its core, it boils down to just more dumb people visiting a strange planet they shouldn't without ever thinking "oh, there might be some hostile **** there, perhaps we should pack LOTS and LOTS of guns, just in case." -
Whatever happened to? Once famous people no longer famous
dpberr replied to dpberr's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I found Matthew Modine. He's the bad guy in Stranger Things. Emilio Estevez is a good one - I had to check he was still alive. He was in some bombs - Freejack and Judgement Night. If your cable company hates you and you get AXS, Tom Green has a lonely, sad little talk show on that network. -
Cutler to the Broadcast Booth with Fox
dpberr replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Goes to show that these networks also use the "I've heard of him..." approach to human resources. Of course this all means that Cutler will surprisingly wind up being a far more popular and entertaining broadcaster than Tony Romo. -
What do you think of new Bills promo? "It Starts With ONE"
dpberr replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is Woody Harrelson narrating that? I think they take the whole slogan thing way too seriously. Even Tony Robbins isn't this serious about personal development and goal reaching. -

Can't say I did either. IMO, she seemed to have an uneven career. I forgot that she was on CSI for a couple seasons before it ended. It appears she will be in the Death Wish remake. Yes, they are remaking Death Wish. -

He seems to be doing a lot of work (for better or worse) the C grade TV movie circuit lately - Lifetime and WWE-Produced movies.
