I don't put AB's retirement on the front office. I think all players are both the steam hammer and John Henry in their careers. It's knowing when you're which. However, I think the front office made it easier on him when they traded for *another* slot receiver who happened to be younger, faster and in his prime.

Your honest expectation for our record this season
dpberr replied to Spurna's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
10-6. Defense will perform better under McDermott. Bills have stashed picks. By cosmic rule, team will outperform expectations. -
Ragland and who for Alex Smith? Can it work?
dpberr replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't trade players who are two games into their professional career. If you hadn't worked your job in over a year, you'd be rusty and slow your first couple weeks too. -
Don't tell this to the tanking aficionados.

Still playoff caliber team if 1 thing doesn't happen
dpberr replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since we've loaded up on all these draft picks... ...we will easily, and I highlight easily make it to the playoffs. Hell, AFC Championship Game. We are all Bills fans. We all know how it works. Oh, and of course, college football will have several blue chip QBs that we will miss out on due to our lower than expected draft slot. -
Ill present the dissenting opinion
dpberr replied to KellyToughII's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. Plenty of players have had the problem and subsequent surgeries and seem to do ok. With Watkins and that particular foot, however, IMO it appears to be a chronic issue. Re-injuring it is inevitable. I think he dinged it in practice earlier this month and the front office saw the writing on the wall. -

I'll support the move by the Front Office albeit for a different reason. I think they know that the foot isn't right and won't be right. -
Ragland and Henderson aren't in "playing" shape. You need camp and real playing time to do that. It's why Shaq Lawson looks completely different from how he looked last year. I'd be patient with both men. They will improve with more playing time.

The Golden Age of Football is Over?
dpberr replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Football reminds me a lot of cigarette smoking. Everyone did it and permitted it until the health concerns and dangers became part of the mainstream conversation. -
I agree that the issue is the floor gasket and the flange plate. If there is a leak, you won't necessarily see it as it's leaking into the floor. This requires immediate attention IMO. New toilet gets a new gasket, and preferably one of the new rubber ones. In a toilet install, it's crucial to seat the toilet slowly and carefully over this gasket.

Lots of relatives in Texas and I'm a Spurs fan so I've seen a good bit. My recommendation is to visit Texas in the winter. December/January it's quite pleasant.

Rivers/Gates not allowed to attend LT's HOF induction
dpberr replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He won't last the season in San Diego. Bad vibes already. -
It's better than the "Carolina Shag" station they have on presently. Although Yacht Rock and Carolina Shag aren't my favorites, I do like that Sirius XM puts together oddball stations like this to expand horizons.

Jon Gruden on coaching return: 'I'm preparing'
dpberr replied to ALF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm convinced Gruden and Cowher will negotiate every contract for the rest of their lives with the "well, I could always go back to coaching you know...." Who was a successful coach that came back after a long hiatus? Dick Vermeil with the Rams? I can't think of anyone else. -
Do you have any tattoos and if so what are they?
dpberr replied to YoloinOhio's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have zero. I've worked for two employers where they were expressly prohibited. I agree that it seems everyone has them these days. -
Prostitution arrests: Pittsburgh style
dpberr replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Prostitution is the last frontier of "vice" that states can make legal, and therefore, tax. Given that several states, including PA, are in deep, deep trouble with pensions and budgets, I don't think the legalization of prostitution is a far-fetched idea. -
Least funny comedian/comedic actor
dpberr replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I don't think it's been mentioned but my vote is for: All British comedy. Benny Hill, Mr. Bean, the ladies from Absolutely Fabulous - never understood it's appeal. -
As I have gotten older, the more I've enjoyed listening to it. I've had more exposure to it due to things like Pandora, satellite radio and to a degree, movies. I started listening to Claude Debussy more after Ocean's 11 used "Clair de Lune" and started listening more to Beethoven due to John McTiernan's use of his work in his Die Hard films (1 and 3).

Let's get ready... 2017 BOLD predictions
dpberr replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFL: The Chargers interim "small" stadium at the Stub Hub Center is overwhelmingly popular with fans and the Chargers pull out of their original plans to be co-tenants with the Rams in Inglewood. They will build their own small stadium in...San Diego. Bills: The Bills and Patriots will have identical records on Saturday, December 2, 2017. -
Phil Jackson wasn't an intelligent coach nor executive. Intelligent people adapt to changing circumstances and times. He was out there hustling the Triangle Offense *still* despite it being figured out in the late 90s.

Most likely TANK theory I've heard thus far...
dpberr replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bleacher Report "article" ignores the financial fact that the Buffalo Bills "business" can not afford the deliberate tanking of a season. He's looking at it strictly from a football perspective and not taking into consideration the finances of the business as a whole. Even with a string of decent 7-9 and 8-8 seasons, the Bills are way way way down in league revenue, not to mention profit. A tank season more than likely lowers revenue even more, and requires more investment from the owners, a significant rise in ticket prices or cutback in non-football related expenditures. Or all three. What's the first rule of being wealthy? Always spend somebody else's money first. -
10 avilable FAs who can make a difference in 2017
dpberr replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd go for the two safeties - Graham at SS AND Byrd at FS - and set them up as Team 1B at the position. The safeties are going to get a ton of work in this defense. -
Always wondered if the United States should change the design of the flag every so often like professional sports teams do. Have two or three designs using the same colors, put it on the ballot on a Presidential Election year. The last time the design of the flag looked any different was all the way back in 1890. Would people lose their minds over the flag design? Probably.
