  1. I don’t think you can avoid a guy because a guy in 2006 from the same school failed.
  2. I mean, the nfls priority would be on field integrity, with being off field role models a distant second. while some of these guys have terrible behavior, I can understand that the job of the league is to protect the product first
  3. I think it should be a requirement to include the money figures when making a comment like this
  4. I’ll be so mad if the take a safety in the first instead of a wr. The difference in cap savings compared to an above average free agent at each position is massive
  5. they pay him the same money: we just keep the dead dollars for accounting since we already paid them
  6. It’s a position where you can truly flip your cap situation for a few years if you hit on a wr1. It’s a $25-30m a year swing we aren’t getting a rookie qb window again but getting an elite pass catcher is both possible and hugely valuable. not campaigning for a specific guy or strategy beyond if they think ones there, they need to get him if they can… even if it costs some draft capital. You’ll have 30m in savings to spend on free agents to replace those picks
  7. As usual, agree. You get not just x and o but league trends, dollars/cents, roster construction and the college pipeline beane has to be looking at this as his urgent chance to find a plus 1 in the Josh plus somebody equation. And now that Josh has been paid his running partner won’t be a big paycheck. He has to start swinging and doing it often. Worst case you end up with a bunch of viable guys, but best case you get that top 10 wr on a rookie deal the problem in discussing his role in our plans is he’s a guy that’s competing to be a minor role player realistically
  8. to further your point, depending on diggs condition- it might be our WR1 isn’t but wr2 is diggs
  9. I think 95% of this board believed you had to add sooooome viable but not game changing vet, and a couple low on the roster bodies before targeting a future WR1 in the draft…
  10. it’s wild that dozens of other guys that are better can’t be pleasant and hardworking
  11. smart move including the preseason.
  12. that’s ultimately the equation right? pickett plus slightly lower draft pick plus improved free agent elsewhere due to cash savings vs other likely more expensive backup to match quality, plus slightly higher pick plus slightly worse free agent elsewhere pickett gives a slight kicker in the off chance he gets trade value or more likely adds to a comp pick going out the door in 2 years (while not costing you one now depending on the eagles situation)
  13. I’d really enjoy video of him and Josh going out to dinner (and not for wings) maybe throw in Dion And McD
  14. We could easily change that
  15. It a 2 year deal that’s $1m cheaper than trubisky I won’t say it’s huge value but they get a guy they are comfortable with for a decent contract with modest draft capital would think the cash value would effect that determination
  16. yea but you want a guy that’s got some experience if cook gets hurt. ty Johnson or a day 3 guy would be a real tough pill in a playoff run… not that the free agents are great but at least some cushion
  17. CEH and Brady have history foreman could also play in a stretch if cook rolls an ankle I suspect one of these two plus a day 3 pick while will fight with Ty for active roster vs practice squad
  18. Definitely some moves left but not likely splashy. something at safety and I wouldn’t be shocked by CEH/D’Onta at rb for instance
  19. they aren’t ready to confront reality yet. we just swapped out a very limited player that couldn’t move inside, and moved like a cruise ship on the outside for a guy that can play both roles or out of the backfield dynamically… and is the only player in the building that’s been in a full Joe Brady install and not just Brady running Dorsey’s offense on the fly and did it for 5M a year less… is Samuel an all pro? No. Is he a wr2 in this league? Sure thing. Knock on wood we get a stacked room with an elite rookie, diggs, Samuel, Shakir this year and are set with rookie-Samuel-Shakir in 2025
  20. And honestly you or I might’ve gotten some yards against Dallas. The beating inflicted in the trenches was about as lopsided as I’ve ever seen. ty is totally fine in that there are a lot of guys that are like 5’10 that run fast. The gap between rb70 and rb120 isn’t super noteworthy any given team usually has some respectable talent at rb3 or the practice squad. It’s similar to wr6 vs practice squad wr7. Every fan base thinks those guys have huge potential we would probably really like to add a back above Ty though. I wouldn’t be shocked if someone like CEH or donta foreman shows up on the radar and then a late pick that will battle with Ty for active roster vs practice squad
  21. If anyone has shown that he knows what it takes….
  22. that he’s still a low on the roster guy not getting $3m… especially when they have a logjam of second and third tier wrs which is fine
  23. We tried to hard the last couple years, apparently you have to be a real clown to point at tres completely reasonable contract don’t sign anyone ever, because they could get hurt
  24. yea, but let’s be real - WR4 and WR5 aren’t guys you expect to do much.
  25. Silly one to be upset about. You need to bring a lot of guys to camp. If he’s wr2 it’s a wreck but as wr5 he’d be a nice piece. You have to wait and see the context
