Because he’s behind the best rb pair in the league.

Clearly I understand that. I’ll stand by what I said- reading the responses (things like worst call I’ve ever seen) I thought it would be worse. I see how a guy that professionally reviews plays could think he has it there. I am not sure i call it clear and irrefutable but after watching I lean towards saying the foot was up. without the on the field call - which way would you call it? If the standard was just what you think you see in the replay (again, obviously not the standard at that point but if discussing whether it’s the most heinous call ever, I think the discussion reframes)

Its a tough one, but having not seen the play til just now — it’s not as bad as what I read before. its hard to tell if his foot is touching in the still frames but it seems clear it hits the ground out of bounds (which means it wasn’t touching before, unless the softest graze possible and the slightly coming up before going down again) it probably shouldn’t be overturned but i don’t think calling it either way would be egregious. I do think that on some plays refs make the call that will obviously be reviewed when they aren’t 100% and then use a lower standard to overturn. I know that’s not proper but i do get the feeling that when in doubt there are guys that call the score or turnover and use the replay to simply make a call instead of indisputably overturning

Jon Gruden interested in Bucs job?
NoSaint replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree- but likely part of why you and I would never sniff the head coach job in the first place. Clearly he has some tolerance for the lifestyle and if he was going to jump there are a few spots this year that are as good as any he will ever see. odds are he stays put though -

Warm weather, has a qb potentially, tough division though -
To be fair, at this point in his career he’s likely walking around with 3 different injuries that SHOULD have him sitting any given week. The term “healthy” for a vet is pretty fluid and I’d think it’s a lot harder to prove a guy is 100% than a guy has some sort of nagging injury or risk. it opens an interesting discussion though

Today youve come out against beer, social media and football. Again, I’m glad you make exceptions to join us. -
Because he is the best option today a few things on this thread: 1) we aren’t giving cousins top flight qb pay AND taking a qb day 1 2) it’s clear that barring something major (ala Flacco’s crazy super bowl run) this regime doesn’t think Tyrod is the guy 3) it’s totally possible Tyrod is still the best option to pair with a rookie by the time you weigh out dead money, guarantees for a new guy etc....

Well, I have made my crossman opinion known but in this thread.... unless your answer gets us to the 30 regularly than the real answer is just kneel, no?

Has officiating ever NOT been a problem?

More and better replays better access access to the full slate of games more and better access to fellow fans to complain with more shows talking about it if anything, odds are the refs have never been better. They have more training, access to reviews, etc... -
So if we end up 9-7 and lose a tie-breaker...

Sammy *ducks and runs* -
“Has to be seen” and “conclusive” aren’t the same thing. we can conclude plenty of things through various deductions without seeing. And I also feel like I see it. Agree to disagree at this point

Id honestly say they made it very clear, but fans (and some players, coaches etc..) don’t like it and are arguing it should be hazier

Joe B lays out the 44 different ways Bills make Playoffs

Plus all those previous NFC wins.... it’s like they didn’t want to get in. good thing they learned and really lost that saints game, thus helping our playoff odds -
If you havent caught the ball yet, how can you score? It’s an easy flow of logic between the two. Essentially changing the whole rule to remove the steps needed on an upright catch and making the football move and in bounds the only two qualifiers? what if he doesn’t tuck/extend? Just “catches“ it outstretched and goes down and the ball comes out? And what if it’s only in his hands a split second? Just playing devils advocate on what would potentially be the new edge plays.

What gets interesting is that grants refs wider judgment. Generally that’s the worst case scenario for most fans, outside of the handful of plays they don’t like the firm rule on. At least this way all 16 crews have a flat standard instead of things like holding or pass interference etc... For instance, how long does the falling player need to hold the ball? They’d have to really do a lot to rework the rule to create a new bright line for possession and you’ll never perfectly regulate the very edge plays.
