  1. There are certainly plenty of those and ol chinstrap beard massare I think connects dots far more than shares secrets.
  2. Tis the life if you want insight into the process. It’s easy to stretch the truth to create more interesting stories but also easy for the truth to change quickly. It’s not always easy to differentiate.
  3. The flip side is.... solid stuff can fall apart. Sometimes there’s a trade very close to done and the rug gets pulled out from under it. Or the jets try to sign a free agent.
  4. Some but in a backfield with another prime option you’ve hedged it. and might extend both careers
  5. Good player. seems they are serious about no number 1 but a fair number of good pieces
  6. Ingram is sneaky good- if seriously considering bell, Ingram would deserve a real look too
  7. Looking at Carolina - they always had more good and by proxy expensive backs than most but it really would be a shocker to aim that high.
  8. I caught the extra posts with more details immediately on hitting submit and deleted. You are quick
  9. Center is considered a much less premium position
  10. I think espn did well in that review, generally.
  11. Who had “the running back room is the oldest we’ve had yet” in the free agency curveball pool
  12. Kid can fly. Junior in high school but suspect he has a chance at getting quite a bit of attention real soon... this video i saw saw sparked the comment: https://mobile.twitter.com/samspiegs/status/1094367308603183104?s=21 youll know him when you see him. He’s the type of fast that makes fast kids look slow.
  13. We have this odd situation on this board where a lot of people think we have all the right cornerstones but aren’t supposed to win for like 5 years. as far as I’m concerned, even if josh works out (especially if he does really) the next 3 years are the best window we will have for quite some time. Let’s go chase a Super Bowl ala LA, KC, Chicago or go back to legion of boom Seattle, the loaded niners teams, etc... THIS is our spot to push chips on the table and fans seem terrified by the idea while simultaneously thinking leadership deserves a long leash. It’s weird.
  14. Other than Mario have we really been a sign superstars happy meal team?
  15. They may be. And that gives them a lot of cash and adds to the picks. Which in theory would contribute to a fast turn, unless their GM messes it up or they miss at QB (harder to blame GM for that given the crapshoot)
  16. The flip side is that unless you are a bills fan, you expect a team to be relevant within 1-2 offseasons. This acceptance of a 5 year plan to be relevant is uniquely our fan base. if Carr is actually a player, and you add brown plus 4 picks in the top 35 (including a top 5) plus free agency... there’s no reason to think they can’t be a playoff team (besides thinking they have poor leadership and Carr isn’t good - in which case brown as a target vs someone else makes little difference)
  17. I’m pro-discussion with Brown. My point was that I think some posters were straying a bit into creating their own narratives with some of the comments.
  18. Right. That seesaw is in every trade ever. A player has a value to a GM and that a combo of dollars and picks. That’s no insight into this situation beyond “GM doing his job” the part that got me was the narrative that with the increased cost he’d hurt the locker room. As if at his given contract he wouldn’t but at a raise he somehow has more oomph to impact it. I think that’s editorializing too much to create a storyline.
  19. But if he knew brown would wreck the locker room why engage, talk contract and disengage. It seems there’s some storyline being created that may be slightly overstepping
  20. How much extra money was the tipping point for losing the locker room? Like beane could guarantee 1.33 years and add 2m per but if he did 1.75 years and 4m extra the young guys would get the wrong message? heck, it’s basically Sammy Watkins contract. On some level if you want a passing game we are going to have to get used to seeing big numbers for guys that may have some warts on their resume. Why’d he even start the talks then?
  21. Obviously true of any trade ever in the history of trades. You pay more for team favorable contracts and less for risky ones
  22. It’s less than 2 years salary guaranteed. I know we haven’t paid a WR market rate lately so the numbers seem huge and scary but I’d rather do it for 3 years of brown than a much larger number for a guy that hasn’t been a proven #1. As as long as healthy, the guys not getting the paycheck if he doesn’t show
  23. I very much hoped they didn’t think they were going to win by being cheap with choir boys. You need star players and you need to take some chances.
  24. And even with that known quantity excellent vet you need that day two of the draft “reliably good and could be great” type of prospect. We are trying to fix one of the worst WR groups in recent memory and it’s going to take a lot (Plus talent at TE)
  25. Oh John.... in that list, not including McKenzie as wr6 was your biggest worry? dont let this be a repeat of last off-seasons satisfaction with subpar talent and thinking everyone is going to play at or above their ceiling Agreed that this group needs a legit difference maker AND a high upside guy added.
