Tom Brady : Not winning Father Of The Year
NoSaint replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea it’s neither high, nor terribly risky. The angle looks worse than it appears to really be. And the angle doesn’t look bad either, if you don’t live in bubble wrap daily. The drive there was probably more dangerous than this particular jump. Fall on your head often? im starting to make sense of some things now ? -
[Name Only Title] Ray-Ray McCloud

Lets be real- you could give me a photo lineup with 5 guys, 3 of which being non starting WRs for this team and it’d be dumb luck if I choose a bill yet alone Ray Ray our if the group -
I’d agree polarizing is hyperbole but he’s anything but settled. If he’s 2-6 and 52% completions with pretty even TD:int in October, it’ll get pretty polarized quickly.

If they put another ring on, a championship and couple middling seasons would still be far better than average (ie at least 15 teams better). If just evaluating the 2022 season, I’d agree it’s a long shot for them to be top tier. I don’t hate Allen but any questioning of him gets pretty aggressively shouted down. So I tend to stay out of it. I think hes he’s got all the tools but still a coin flip on whether he’s the guy and don’t have much desire to argue about him being at a crossroad and qb development being rather fickle and unpredictable at this stage (IMO) hes likable, and I wish him well. I don’t think many want to tear the guy down even if they have concerns.

He thought he blew the play and was at least saving a TD. The irony being the flag coming out creating 1st and goal under a minute and tied... I’d bet statistically speaking that giving up a TD and getting the ball is better than letting them run out the clock with a chip shot 20 yard fg to win it as time runs out. He made a series of terrible choices and got totally bailed out saints had had plenty of chances to win, but the gravity of this bad call erased a couple other really big no calls down the stretch that were game changers too.

I mean, I doubt you say the same about white dudes, generally. I’m not pretending you are the devil for it but I think it’s probably rooted in prejudice even if unintentional. We’d all be better off with “ugh, yea I probably stepped in it there” and moving on instead of the extreme “I could never be racist” vs “im going to ruin your life for an offhand and pretty innocuous comment” approach that’s so common these days

I don’t disagree with most of that. But boy was that about as bad a call as possible. Just awful. It didn’t ruin my year or anything but on a practical level you hate to see one so blatant in such a big moment. One thing that does stick with me though is that I’m quick to point out humanity of the officials and that a bang bang play at a weird angle can be incredibly tough and perfection can’t be the expectation... this one felt like “I’m not throwing a flag no matter what” and I dislike that. I’ll stomach “if I’m not positive I’m not calling it,” but this felt even past that, and should’ve had consequences for the officials.

While I widely agree... the stakes in a moment like that for a multi billion dollar industry are much more than just a game. It’s always a weird balance between the two. If the titans tossed the ball 8 yards forward and it was the AFCCG I suspect the reaction would be different. It just wasn’t even in the proximity of a borderline call.

Two Reason For Hope No One Is Talking About.
NoSaint replied to Flip Johnson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Best way to do 1 is have an effective offense. as much as any player, Manning was a big time part of why the colts Tampa 2 was effective and ours wasn’t. If we can let pass rushers key on the qb, and pull the back 7 out of run support, we have the makings of an excellent group. If the opponent is able to grind on short fields with a lead, it’ll be a long year. -

You just know every team will play internationally once with an odd number -
Is having a #1 WR that important or just good to have?

To be fair, our cap situation wasn’t that bad, if we didn’t decide to slash and burn without care about the short term. Also, 16m isn’t some crazy cost in relation to the cap and you need a few superstar talents on a team. Does it hurt less when your 16m LT, DT, or CB get hurt? You need stars and depth. In the window of a rookie qb contract it’s a heckuva lot easier to support that. Especially if drafting decent alongside that. -

But I can’t underscore enough that it’s not just drew. They are better at RB, WR1, TE, both tackles and a guard before you start getting into tougher calls. In addition to the all time great qb, their other 10 guys tend to be better. It’s a talent league and while we improved greatly there’s still work to be done -

New Orleans and New England have all time great qbs. It goes a long way to “just scheming” guys open. Michael Thomas would also be our best WR, Kamara our best back, or cook probably our best tight end. It helps when those role players are very very good. -

You need a deep bench at WR, especially without an established QB. You are better if one of those is an elite impact player. Comparing injuries and catch percentage between a guy that’s often getting more targets than the other gets catches and those targets being twice as far down field in heavier coverage is a fools errand though.
