How much is cole beasly really loving the bills?
NoSaint replied to Lafromboise's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ll say guys that talk smack about the last team coming in are likely to do the same going out. As for talent... he is a good player but at one of our qbs weak points. If josh takes a big step, he’s a great resource. If not, he could be a sore spot. ‘‘Tis the risk of a pickup like this. Clay never got utilized by Tyrod in our quest to throw between the hashes. Josh isn’t tyrod though. -
Right. but even being below that average conversion rate, one would assume many of those would still be mathematically acceptable decisions. If I gave you 4-1 odds on calling a coin flip, even with a slightly weighted coin you’ll probably make some money. I’d assume the bills are using their own research which I would assume is more personalized and not just using the NYT bot. it also ignores my point that I’m a fan of the underdog taking extra shots. If we are overmatched in talent (and with the dead money we created no other argument can be made)... I kind of prefer hoping they convert 1-2 above average in a game and steal a win here and there even if it means missing them all in another week and a 7 point loss becomes a 14.

Im not arguing they were good at this. Just wondering aloud if being bad precludes it from being an ok decision. Would they have fared better punting? And substantially enough so that it outweighs my own preference to at least take a shot if you are a talent deficient team? There’s little I hate more than grinding out 17-13 games on the way to 6-10. At some level I’d rather take the shots and risk a few blowouts in exchange for stealing a few wins. If if we were a loaded team that just couldn’t do it for due to some quantifiable weakness, then I’d be apt to be more conservative...

Your take is totally reasonable. Seymour had that eye surgery that was going to be a break through to being a legit starter though too. It’s one of those things where they are all here because they are wildly filled with potential. I’m not saying any of the 18 class are junk, but that it’s so early to judge. We flop this year, fire McD and suddenly they may be scattered around the league and mismatched to scheme here. It can be a delicate road was my point, not hating on any player.

Proehl and mccloud gone Everyone else day 3 as a question mark phillips 3rd in the rotation at best for what may be his whole rookie deal none are bad picks but it wouldn’t take a lot to break badly. Likewise a few could step up big time. Especially with wins at the top. That’s the mystery of it all. We like them right up until we don’t. Hopefully a few hold it off for a long time

I have a sneaking suspicion was that he was hoping tre would “feel it in the morning” not that he would never walk again. I could be waaaaay off base there but I think it was aggressively dumb more than anything deliberately career ending. That said, I doubt the kids at this hospital appreciate the gesture any less, and ultimately that’s what the thread might be best served to remember, instead of another tearing the dude down.

I will likewise nominate you to donate $50 or go away im not giving the guy the key to the city or throwing a parade but the dude just paid for a nurse for a year. Or some new equipment. To help sick kids in buffalo. Good for him and I’d gladly shake his hand and say thanks for it, despite his history playing football against Buffalo

Other than the pats would it be all that out of line to say we likely have 2 bad teams and 1 that could possibly break through and be decent? dolphins look no better than giants/skins. Jets seem unlikely to make a stride. I think we have a shot but are like a less proven Dallas. Unless you are putting NE as head and shoulders above philly it’s kind of “meh” to argue the NFCE as worse -

At the most 10. 11 feels like “I have a bunch of interchangeable guys at the bottom” which means you do less not more to protect them -

You think 6 WR and 5 TE? id guess we keep 9 not 11 pass catchers -
And if you figure LeBron is last legs, and the pels weren’t consistently winning with Davis (and just traded all their high picks and young assets) there’s a chance some of those are decent picks down the line
-
I think the hope in Nola is spin Lonzo and 4 into a solid player, let Ingram be your boom or bust asset short term and then know you have good draft capital. I could be wrong but id be a little surprised if lonzo ever sets foot in the pels home locker room.
-
Except there’s a good chance doing in February makes the 4 much worse if AD helps a playoff run and never know if the new blood hurts the pels shot at 1. this thread also isn’t including the ability the swap picks with the Lakers in the seasons they don’t have their 1. not a GREAT haul but given his ability to tank this season and walk in a year, and also his ability to refuse to sign elsewhere.... not a bad trade

Whos running your college and pro scouting all fall? Who is is managing your salary cap? Or or are you saving all that for after the super bowl? -

If we kept marrone I imagine it would’ve gone this way. He might’ve suited up at RG too. -
Ultimately, I think you can make a case to a player if you think they will be more impactful at the new position. ”we think LG is your real calling and you will be elite there” plays better then “if it’s all the same to you, we’d like to kick you inside since we have a decent backup tackle and you can probably fill a hole elsewhere”

I saw some comments on it along the way but took it with a grain of salt as he didn’t even hit puberty til his sophomore year and comments like that often get hung on guys the are younger but highly athletic. It’s often hard to tell at that level who is taking calculated risks knowing they are playing on another level and who just isn’t making great reads and get away with it that said, he definitely has to work on being a technician and his athleticism did probably let him get by in some spots in HS and college
