  1. I heard some people debating if gore would get into the hall of game but I pointed out that place is for quitters so it probably won’t happen any time soon our PR team probably got a little over the top with the extra bills logo. honestly that whole graphic is a bit extra
  2. I didn’t do any type of research on comparable situations/punishments... but it feels fair that he’d be punished substantially but not overwhelmingly for his behavior
  3. super edgy! Was just pointing out that as a largely white male group here, there may be elements at play in the talk of why other races and genders feel the way they do that many here won’t fully understand. As it’s a football thread let’s call it a day here. Plus, I have no desire to debate it. to the list, without context in the OP I’d guess hearing that it was a radio show maybe it came About conversationally and wasn’t prepped for in advance causing names to fall through the cracks? With such obvious omissions I jump straight to then shooting from the hip and just spacing on some options that could be on it. But could be a weird qualifier added.
  4. I bet I can guess your race and gender while I think we sometimes get carried away- it doesn’t shock me that people get excited to identify with successes
  5. I used the phrase hot trash a little tongue in cheek. my point being that replacing Brady’s contribution is getting easier and they are still the top of the pile. hopefully the teams trend begins to align with his
  6. Am I the only one that hopes Brady is playing a little better than we are seeing him get credit for? if he’s hot trash and the pats are rolling that’s not a good thing for us
  7. I agree it’ll be week 1 because that’s relatively in line with past incidents (see haynesworth). I won’t think it’s cause of an unverifiable accusation though as that becomes a default in any punishment levied for an altercation moving forward. Week 5 vs 1 means little to the Nfl. Every fight ending in a racial accusation means a lot to the Nfl. Either they verify it or they can’t. If they can’t, they can’t let it change the outcome. If the can, it becomes a debate.
  8. given the reactions to dozens if not hundreds of racially sensitive stories that have ended up breaking in many directions... the same people seem to very reliably land on the same side time after time when these break regardless of fact patterns or the end result of the story. It’s both sides and it’s a lot of people. Whether a protest or accusation, I don’t think a large swath of the population will ever say “they handled that the right way” if it’s in the act of bringing a racially charged accusation to light. Likewise many will never question an accusation. But if they say “see you in October” where’s his benefit to actually follow through on the “threat?” He wins the game of chicken by actually crashing into his opponent? Sure he could hurt them but it doesn’t help him.
  9. Yea- but I’m not sure that is a long term winning formula for Garrett if they still nail him. what does he gain by pushing that after his appeal is denied? He can leverage the risk now but does he raise his stock/value in any way come next October if he’s suspended and beating that drum? much like Rudolph, you might see a minor interview on a pregame show or with the local team but he’s not making the network rounds with this and because of that it dies in 60 seconds.
  10. it might be a product of me not being subject to those types of insults beyond being the guy that spills and does clumsy stuff in infomercials but in my mind I think all it would do is make Rudolph even less of a sympathetic victim of the clubbing... it doesn’t absolve the clubber of his actions as much as it would allow me to not feel bad for mason learning a lesson the hard way.
  11. I’m not saying let him off the hook. Or that he’s incredibly credible. I’m just saying you’d be hard pressed to find 3 minds changed on this entire board if he grabbed the mic out of the sideline reporters hand on the field that night and accused it straight to the camera on his way off the field. either it’s on tape, or it’s not, and nothing else was changing most minds. Even if it was on tape he doesn’t get to rip the guys helmet off and club him. rudolph wants this to disappear too. he will deny the accusation, and if smart quietly move on. In the reality of the NFL world pressing assault charges would be a worse crime than the fight or a slur- regardless of his rights or the rules. He won’t be “that guy.” he released his denial. Will let his teammates defend him. And maybe does a minor interview down the line. If he takes this to court he becomes the sideshow teams don’t want.
  12. Are all QBs recorded? Don’t believe that’s true. That would be incredibly dumb move for an nfl player to accuse him of saying something knowing that... no?
  13. I agree an overwhelming majority would. I don’t think that makes a difference to 99% of the reactions though.
  14. While I get your point I do push back a little that the controversy is almost never as big as we make it on a message board. would it catch some off hand mentions on Sunday morning Espn game preview marathons? Sure. Would it be a CNN story even 5 minutes from now? Probably not.
  15. what would have been the proper way? would those most angry have reacted with less skepticism and a more open mind if he had a press conference that night declaring mason called him a ********, instead of doing it at a closed door hearing? while I certainly get the skepticism and am not advocating for believing all reports... I’m simply saying I think 99% of the reactions would’ve been identical and reflected what “team” you are on regardless of the way the accusation came to light.
  16. I mean, ultimately, we don’t know what happened. So it’s a bit of confirming our own biases to go hard in the paint like that.
  17. yup - and a lot of times these talks focus on coaches and players but a good staff in the quality dept doing the pre-work and splicing stuff up, catching tendencies etc... before the coaching staff even sits down goes a long way and is already in progress.
  18. what’s your password? Maybe we can try for you?
  19. you’ve already decided why it happened and the response has no effect. What do you want from other posters here?
  20. it’s not a conspiracy. The Nfl has simply directed that short of an egregious and likely seemingly intentional act they aren’t doing it. quite literally they are treating it as an nfc championship game rule not as an any given Sunday occurrence. I’m on the fence with how I feel about that but it seems the reality and I’m not sure that a high threshold requires talk of conspiracy under that thought why isn’t every call the same way? i think none of them want every deep ball with contact to be challenged so they said to only give it to the worst of the worst
  21. I look forward to number 51 this was a riveting topic
  22. totally blacked out the last 20 years, eh?
  23. He’s a big time player when he’s on. My concern was whether he’d be that guy for 16 games. So far, so good! Getting him 3 years on a reasonable deal is great. If we can add another piece to the passing game it should go a long way to being a consistent threat on offense.
  24. You’re seeing ghosts joe. go ahead and fight them all week though, if it floats your boat
  25. You’ll really show ‘em. I’m sure...
