  1. my point was he should be, and you are arguing he is 😂
  2. that kind of misses the point I was making completely though
  3. I get it- I just tend to talk about the draft class as the rookies acquired vs the picks spent on them. Rolling in trades for vets is nice and all but then you have to discuss the FA opportunity cost of not signing a guy at the higher pay rate too. Just oversimplifies the equation to say diggs was better than 22. He should be better because he’s 22 AND whatever the gap between 22s pay and his could’ve produced for the team.
  4. wait- are you serious? yup. Solid contributing class. A second round DE isn’t often an instant game changer a 3rd round rb should contribute heavily early a drafted kicker should work like ours has a late DB contributing isn’t terribly rare, hopefully he develops into something.
  5. the only wonder out loud is about what a Mount Rushmore entails. I think of it as both noteworthy but the icon element - so the unknown jazz guy probably isn’t heavily represented in the conversation in that sense. Someone like EVH and Hendrix were both game changers and icons. The average person can’t look at the wall and say who is that, get told the name and again ask who is that, right?
  6. and let’s not act like it’s getting boatloads of attention either. It’s unfortunate that it hasn’t happened, but now it is. Cool, and on to discussing the game, right? I think it can be mentioned without acting like the narrative is being forced in this case.
  7. that’s a fantastic ideal. And I agree it’s the optimum way for this to have happened decades ago. And there’s a good chance that’s how it’s happening now. I see no indication they are pulling random guys out of a temp agency looking for work after being laid off from their travel agency job. but I think there’s something to be said for putting some light on these breakthroughs and when it’s not going to hurt quality even facilitating them a bit. Because showing people that they have a spot in the role, you increase the potential size of that talent pipeline for years to come.
  8. oh yea, if it’s a low pick and a round different for the redskins vs the pats you obviously send him far away.
  9. a lot of times you don’t want the energy of a young guy dealing with demotion in the building. At least in a new setting he can come in fired up for a fresh start without all the baggage
  10. Saints fans are all in on it too
  11. yea, conceptually there are probably a few question marks that contributed to why we saw a result you never see. in theory you rush Murray from the side Hopkins is on the recently mentioned not diving at him to try to get the sack the coverage shell that you outlined and the actual jump/hit as the final nail in the plays coffin. I know it leaves you prone to other results if you dedicate that much to Hopkins but if you are taking anyone out of that play it’s got to be him. It’s easy to say it’s just great player magic to catch that - and Hopkins deserves a ton of credit- but there are a few things that had to happen to even allow him the opportunity and we allowed them.
  12. You probably wouldn’t love the coach saying she was completely healthy and benched for quality of play to the media (or recruiters, etc...) though if that’s the case
  13. you one hand the tip and it gives your safeties extra leeway on hitting the receiver.a redirected ball going to a redirected wr isn’t getting caught there but he’s not a foot below. he’s 2 inches shorter, 1 inch shorter arms and 3-4 on the vertical. So max 6. if he rises up with one arm theoretically less than that even. Blitz on that side?
  14. I believe this rule assumes both are accepted.
  15. easier said than done and in that situation it’s chaos but if tre goes up one handed and then either safety takes the stance that an elite corner with position will at least redirect the ball so I’m going the break the guys ribs, or flip him completely I doubt that balls caught.
  16. honestly Hyde is probably better off playing through Hopkins body instead of trying to get over him. And poyer does clear out tre. It’s a tough spot though.
  17. they definitely can play very physical as an added layer to why I’m not buying the couple inch advantage. Between only needing to get a hand on it, and being able to rough him up there are a lot of plays to be made there. Our guys didn’t make the play today. It happens. Hopefully not often.
  18. yup. That wasn’t a Hail Mary throwing the ball into a crowd with dumb luck. It was a jump ball and he won it fair and square. Hopefully a teaching moment and lesson learned in a non conference regular season game instead of in the playoffs. There will inevitably be a couple very close games against elite talents in January if we intend to make a run. I’d much rather be the team that comes up with those plays, instead of a team like the saints who have been eliminated on last minute plays almost every season for a decade.
  19. oh he’s a beast. people thought I was knocking diggs or being moody about the bills when I said I thought the cards got the better deal. It wasn’t a knock at all-I like our move a ton. Just the Hopkins deal was crazy, as you note.
  20. and catching is a lot harder than swatting. it was a great play by a great player. I think a great play by a great player likewise could’ve stopped it. I’m not saying cut them all or it’s the end of the world. yea- in a pure jump off Hopkins can get his finger tip 6-7 inches higher. With one guy going for a catch of a ball heaved 50 yards while getting hit, grabbed and falling to the ground, and the other just trying to touch the ball... the defender should be at an advantage there still. He got outplayed by a great player there. Not shameful but won’t say there was no chance to stop it.
  21. his arm is 1 inch longer than tre whites
  22. hes 6’1 - let’s not act like he’s a foot taller. To catch the ball on a 50 yard heave over guys just swatting shouldn’t happen unless they’ve missed the play somehow. that many were running back towards the goal line on a play 45 yards out that late probably wasn’t ideal either.
  23. it should’ve never had a chance to if they just swatted it
  24. Looking to add to my Christmas record collection in advance of the season. What y’all got?
  25. unfortunately, you tend to cycle 5s, unless they become a 3. it’s hard to invest that deep when you can get talented But incomplete role players deep in the draft or cheap.
