  1. Guy and Modrak were experienced football guys when they came. They haven't built a playoff team. Nix has had a year to see how these guys operate. I trust he will know how to move forward with or with out these guys, maybe have his own people to help these guys out if he doesn't remove them. I see Modrak is getting credit for good later round picks but why are we not doing so good on the 1st round picks. Is it time for a change or maybe they just need better direction because I can still smell the Levy influence here. I liked what he said about a team has to be built for the environment they play in. Thats the biggest pronblem we have now.
  2. I agree...I have been saying this for months. The situation is very much like Schaub's. We shouldn't have to give up the farm for him though. Maybe a 4th rounder with a player (TE) could get him. We are going to have to get a free agent veteran and draft a qb to really solve our qb issue anyway. Kolb is the free agent I would target. I could easily see Philly keeping Vick and obtaining another qb to be the 3rd string this year. Next year Vick will be the #2 in Philly.
  3. I can't imagine Nix having conversations with Thomas and Kelly leaving them feeling set at QB. If he can create a Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers situation here, I would be pleased. We will see a new QB next year.
  4. I don't think story has any credibility but what the hell, I'll play along. The only QB in this bunch that clearly has upside is Troy Smith. - We know what Bulger can do. He took the Rams offense from Showtime to Blowtime. - Jason Campbell flat out sucks. There is always an excuse. If he learned how to read defenses and developed some pocket awareness he may be worth a look. This is the only year he has had a bad OL and he plays like he did in prior years....lousy. He would be a quality backup. Great practice QB can make all the throws. - Vick, last time I saw him play he had trouble seeing all of his receivers. Very seldom did he go beyond his first read. I'm not sure if has those same issues if he does, pass. Lets face it, it's no secret that Atlanta's receivers became better after he left. Though he would be an improvement. - Derek Anderson actually makes Brady Quinn look good. Troy actually looked slightly better than Flacco when going head to head but could not stay healthy. He could throw and run. With a pre season behind him I think he would develop into a solid starter in a Dave Garrard way. I think the Ravens would part with him for a 5th rounder. I would rather offer Philly a 4th rounder and Trent Edwards for Kevin Kolb.
  5. WAY...McClain is the man here. We have the 31st ranked run defense. That means a front 7 upgrade. There is no great QB in the draft this year (that has declared themselves eligible) and if there was will they be there at 8 or 9. We are talking a 2-3 year project. Our number one pick needs to contribute now. This guy is the real deal. Look at the impact of Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis on a defense. This is who he is being compared with. He will be there for the next 10 years. I agree we need to address the QB and LT position. We can do this in round 2 and 3. We are going to have to approach these needs in free agency anyway in order to be a winner next year. Next year's starting qb and one of the OT positions should be acquired through free agency.
  6. Love the funny response Kyle Boller does suck big time.... It was Steve McNair that beat Smith out not Boller. Boller was actually the 3rd string behind Smith.
  7. I would take Evans and Reed off of this list because the lack of a qb. Lets face it TO was an excellent receiver until he came here, this is due to poor quarterbacking. For the others they have had to grow up on their own. Most players learn from coaching and other veteran players. I have been a critic of Poz and Whitner because it seems as though their learning curve takes longer than normal. In their defense they have had no decent on field veteran examples to learn from. I think if Poz played behind or beside Fletcher for a year he would be a much better player. If Whitner could have played a year with Milloy or Vincent he would be much better. But they didn't and they have had to figure it out for themselves with the help of lackluster coaching. This management has taken veteran leadership for granted.
  8. My son is a huge Ravens fan so I keep close watch. At the beginning of last season he was actually beating out Joe Flacco for the starting job. He looked like the better qb. Speculation was beginning what to do with him since Flacco was drafted in the first round. He suffered an injury and Flacco won the job by default and hasn't looked back. I would have no problem bringing him in bacause he is better than anyone we have. With a pre season under his belt he would actually be pretty good. However he wouldn't be annointed a starter unless he proved it. I wouldn't mind seeing Kevin Kolb as well. These are the two qb's I would target in the off season as well as drafting one.
  9. It's to early to tell. I don't think we will be able to make a good read on Brohm until he plays through preseason. Next week will be a good test.
  10. Like I said he is the qb of the 31st ranked defense against the run and he plays like a scab as well. No one on this team is making many plays at the line of scrimmage...what defense are you looking at? Poz plays hard and more than often goes in the opposite direction of the play running himself out of the play..but you have to pay attention to see that. He is often dragged additional yardage at the point of impact...I guess you blame that on Stroud and the scabs. He has trouble getting off of the a block..and I am being kind. I think Poz is better suited for the OLB position a position he played until his senior year. From your assessment you are saying Poz would be better if he had better players around him. This is a very common Poz defense...From what I have seen good players make players around them better. How many times have you heard (Bruce Smith, Jim Kelly, Cornelius Bennett...) would be better if he had better players around him. Never, they always made the players around them better. Poz obviously doesn't make the players around him better...If you paid attention you would realize mediocrity when you see it. Stroud and Schobel are on the down side of their careers but they do have probowl appearances..and some good football left in them but not at a probowl level. I am not holding my breath until Poz makes it to a probowl.
  11. He's the best one to rag on. He is arguably the most over rated Bill. I doubt he will ever make 2 pro-bowls as Schobel. He make a few good plays he makes quite a few bad ones. For a 3 year vet I thought he would be able fend off blockers better. Take better angles on tackles and play much stronger at the point of attack. He has had 3 picks which is great but he is not a good cover LB. He is the quarterback of the 31 ranked run defense..... I hope the Bills can give Schobel some hope to come back, he still has some football in him.
  12. Have him lose 15 lbs and bring him back next season. I believe he is out shape this season trying to carry more weight. No one on this team is above trading...I just don't think we have any one that will get us above a 4th round pick. Lynch, Poz, Parrish, Edwards, Whitner, Kelsey...I don't think these guys would get anything better. Maybe if you package them. I would draft a rb in the mid rounds because we need more depth.
  13. As a prior poster stated most of the posters have settled for mediocrity. If you believe getting one LB is going turn us into being top 5 against the run you are sadly mistaken, Let take our starters and make them back ups and get 3 new LB's with size and smarts. Changing to 3-4 defense with out talent will still have us ranked toward the bottom. We just be moving the problem around instead of addressing it. We need better talent, it's not the scheme. I would like for us to address free agency with the idea getting 3/4 players. 1 QB maybe Kyle Orton, 1 OT Jared Gaither is young, upcoming, and solid. 1 DE Ray Edwards is worth pursuing, he is 25 and getting better. He is athletic, solid against the run and has 6.5 sacks t his. Or Marcus Spears (27) of Dallas, very good against the run. 1 RB Pierre Thomas he can catch and run like Jackson. Attain more draft picks Anything goes here try to use Trent Edwards, Kelsey, Parrish, McCargo, Poz, Whitner as bait if we can land Thomas, Lynch becomes bait as well. We only need 2 picks. We would like to hold onto Lynch, Poz, Whitner but lets not get too attached. I feel we can get a 4th rounder for Edwards maybe a 3rd tops, and a 4th or 5th for Parrish Draft 1 LB McClain 2 QB/OT 3 OT/DT 4 DT/LB 4 ? 5 DT/LB 5 ? 6 OT/G 6 DE 7
  14. I'm in full agreemant with you. In fact the present helmet is one of the coolest in the NFL. I wish they would start using a better metallic paint, it would show better.
  15. He was the first to run the continue video stream and narrate over it. While in college a group of the sport fanatics along with myself in the dorm would turn on DC's Channel 4 to watch him do the sports. RIP GM you were the best.
  16. Certainly not a fan of Vick but I don't hate him either in fact I try not to judge. As a QB I feel he tends to lock in on a receiver. If the receiver is not open he takes off. Will he develop as Randall Cunningham or Donavan McNabb. It remains to be seen. If he can add value lets bring him in. If not lets leave him. It always amazes me how self righteous people are when discussing the dog fighting issue. When they are only using it as a guise to express their hate. Lets face it I do not feel as though dogs have the same rights as humans but I do respect the living. A couple of questions for the so called animals loving posters - Do you feel its okay for a dog to be confined to a back yard for years or to be fed table scrapes.. If you treated a human this way you would be imprisoned. - Do you feel its okay for a dog to be walked with a leash with a choker collar around its neck. - Have you taken in a dog from the streets because you care so much. The answer is probably hell no. - Do you feel castration, oh excuse me spading or neutering of animals is okay to control animal population because if I was given a choice to fight some one else or be castrated, I would fight...what would you choose? - Do you care when humans are being treated unfairly in this country or other parts of the world and trust me there is a lot of torture going on. Children are being killed every day in S. America..wanna help them out? - For you military buffs. Is killing an animal for sport less moral than killing or torturing a human for your country. - Is killing an animal worse than continual domestic abuse? - Have any of you ever made a mistake. People make mistakes, All of you have made mistakes...hypocritical members of society are so unforgiving until they get caught making a mistake. Then they want forgiveness. They are FOS. Hopefully people learn from their mistakes. I have owned dogs and I love animals and what Vick did was wrong but it wasn't the worst crime or an unforgivable act and he has done his time. For those of you questioning intellegence...If you want to be impressed intellectually you should not watch football. Don't watch post game interviews or the pregame show for that matter... He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but are most of your good football players? I don't want the Bills to exclude any option that may help this team because we have clearly gone down the wrong path this decade. When I sit down to watch football I really don't care if the players are !@#$s, or if they have lied to there wives, or are banging better looking chicks than me or if they wake in the moring singing "we are the world", I just want to see the Bills win fair and square.
  17. I would like to see all of the posters scores not sure I would be impressed. Although I understand your point.
  18. Okay here is my 2 cents - Get your front office in order now (GM). Not necessary to wait until the end of the season unless you have a specific person in mind that is currently employed with another team. - Employe a headcoach that can bring in former HC's as OC and DC. Similar to what Levy did with Marchibroda. - Focus on free agency, 1 LT, 1 LB, 1 QB people that can start, no more of these Fitzpatrick signings. - Prepare for the draft, target players that we may be able to attain additonal picks for. We would like three additional midround picks here. - Focus on LB, OT, DE, DT, QB, G. We have to focus on both lines - After draft focus on filling any available holes in the line up though FA. * Approach the draft and FA as if we were an expansion team. No present player needs to be annointed the starter for 2010 at any position. * No need to switch to a 3-4 defense but we do need a divorce from the Tampa 2. * When looking at draft picks emphasize the game film of players over the combine olympics. We tend to get overly impresses by what players can do at the combine over what they can do on the field. * Take a year off of cb's * No more Penn St. players . They take to long to develop. * Draft people for their original positions ie. if we need a LB don't draft a big safety. No more tweeners.
  19. Total agreement. Looking at last nights game against the Giants you can easily say he has a bad line in front of him...and he does. This is his 4th year and his first 3 years his line was pretty good. He is slow to read the defense and doesn't have good pocket presence. Collins is actually the better qb but is not considered the future. I think Campbell is a solid second string qb. In practice he can do it all...he tends to get stumped when another team lines up opposite him. I have seasons ticket to the Redskins games and what you can't see on tv is the missed opportunities because he doesn't see the field well. The skins burned a draft pick moving up to get him and he has yet to deliver.
  20. Fletcher makes the the players around him better. He is the main reason they are the 7th ranked defense in the league. Orakpo is another LB and Haynesworth is in his first year with the Redskins. Fletcher has been there for three years and they have been a top ten defense all three years and the Redskin fans recognize it. Poz needs better players around him to look better. Good players don't need better players around them to make them look good. They make players around them look better. I never heard anyone say Bruce Smith would be better if he had better players around him. Jim Kelly would be better if he had better players around him. Consistantly people say if Poz had better players around him he would be better. (and if he had rocket boosters on his ass he would be Astro Boy....he doesn't) This is an excuse for Poz fans and demonstrates the fact he needs leadership as oppossed to providing it. I think Poz is a middle of the pack LB and we could upgrade his position. If you really think Poz is the answer then you should be happy with your 31 ranked defense.
  21. As a prior poster said...we actually like Poz. We realize he is a very, very average at best mlb so we are willing to give him a shot at OLB. It seems you look at the very few plays he makes. I look at the many plays he doesn't make but should. Keep in mind we are last or close to it in run defense. All of our LB's basically suck. I think we do have 5 Poz's on the team..in fact we have 9... Whitner, Edwards, Ellison, Mitchell, Kelsey, Denny, Hangartner, Chambers, Parrish.
  22. Agreed...Anyone that thinks we have a LB worth a damn please go sit in the Jauron section immediately!
  23. Worse...they have all made the playoffs even superbowls in the last 10 years. Hope we can draft ahead of these guys.
  24. I'm in full agreement to blow the whole thing up but you have to keep some veterans for leadership and knowledge. I think you keep Stroud with replacing in mind. Kyle Williams is like the little engine that could. We have to get better there as well. Outside of our secondary I fell everyone is expendable...on defense. Denny, Kelsey, Williams, Stroud, Schobel, Mitchell, Ellison, Poz, Whitner. They all can be upgraded. Now coaching has a little something to do with it I'm sure. I like the way Parcells blew up the Dolphins defense he removed fan favorites and built a much better defense. Thats where we are now. FA should give us a tackle, guard, and qb on offense and provide a dt or de and lb on defense. The rest can be attained in the draft. The question is who can be off loaded for draft picks we will need to get 2 - 3 additional mid round picks.
