  1. I'm in the DC area and Charlie Casserly is frequently on local television. Over the years he has been a less than credible source for breaking stories. Just two days ago he was commenting on Washington Post Live about Gilbert Arenas. As it turns out he was passing wrong information as he has done many times before. I heard other reporters reporting about Dungy and the Seahawks. I have not heard anyone else but Casserly report this one about Harbaugh. I need to see it from another source before I bite when it comes from Casserly. As of now, I don't believe it because Casserly is basically full of it. I think the majority of the people in the DC area will feel the same way.
  2. I like the picks you have under Grimm a little better than Frazier. With that said I think Frazier will be a much better coach and will be the choice. I think we will take a qb off the board around round 4. Your top 4 picks could all start on this team. Don't be surprised to see RB taken somewhere as well. Lets see what free agency brings. I truly think a QB will be attained there. I would love to see McClain in the 1st but if not Spikes in the second would be great.
  3. +1 I think Nix is a solid football guy and an insider to personel. I trust he is going to make a solid choice. I think he knows who he wants as well. Our real issue is talent. I think he will make some solid moves on the talent and HC front.
  4. Beast mode make not be the brightest guy around but for two out of the last three years he has played with more heart than any one we have had. I don't think Gerhart and Tebow will come close to being as tough as beast mode though I'm sure they are probably smarter. Hark, is there a Brian Leonard sighting?
  5. Maybe we need a LBs that read plays and not run themselves out of position and can knock the hell out of people. We don't have that now. We need DT's too but we probably won't be able to draft the best DT in the draft but we can draft the best LB. We can get a OT in the 2nd and a DT in the 3rd. Not sure what FA is going to be like but I would like to think a QB, OT, and DE would come from that avenue.
  6. I don't. but I would like to see Grimm follow the traditional protocol of being a solid DC or OC first. I would prefer someone who has proven themselves at the next level which is being OC or DC. Though he has had some respomsibilities sharing some OC responsibilities, who knows what those resposibilities are. He has been around for years and hasn't made OC yet. That's a heluva red flag to me. Jim Zorn made the same jump last year from QB coach to and OC/HC. It didn't work, it was to much of jump for him. I recognize Grimm is not Zorn, but we are taking a gamble when we promote a OC/DC to headcoach let alone something less. We can do better. Some times when you roll the dice like that you might get lucky but it's against the odds. I would be more apt to bring him in as my OC more so than my HC. It's interesting that the people that have turned Buffalo down are the ones that stated weeks before we ask them that they would not be interested in leaving what they doing now. I can't figure out why we asked, it downright futile. I think Nix is somewhat of an insider and he knows who has the real talent. I think he will make the right choice.
  7. Cameron is 1-15 as a HC. What are you thinking. I think Nix will make a solid choice.
  8. I like Grimm but he is not ready for the head coaching position. Let him work as a OC or DC first. We can get much better than him. Let's not act desperate because we aren't.
  9. Why no contact with Billick? Maybe he's an ****
  10. I agree as much as we talk about how bad our team is, they are actually mediocre. There is room for failure which would be a slap in the face of a good reputation. If a coach is truly confident in his abilities to turn a team around he will balk. Parcells, Vermiel have that confidence. Cowher doesn't. He wants to take over a winner as Norv Turner did. I think he has a case of Phil Jackson-itis. He does have the reputation that will allow him to pick and choose. Schott, lil Schott, and Cowher said weeks before we ask them that were not interested in returning or interviewiing. Maybe they meant it. Lets move on and get a coach that can win in here so when those bums do take a HC position, we can stomp the hell out of them.
  11. Rolando McClain at OLB??? He's a MLB and would clearly be the best LB on the team, Why play him out of position?
  12. I have seen reports that clock McClain at 4.65 and that is a very solid time for a LB. 40 speed does not make a LB great all by itself. The point I'm making is McLain can be a great LB irregardless of how fast Willis can run. There are other intangibles that make McLain a solid prospect. Since LB's recently tend to last beyond the #10 mark I'm hoping that he last to the #9 spot. Maybin was drafted for his quickness more so than his 40 speed the Bills felt he was the quickest speed rusher out their. Maybin clocked faster times at his pro day...but don't get me wrong I wanted Orakpo. Your greatest players at any position usually aren't the fastest.
  13. Ray Lewis did not run 4.4 either. I believe one of the problems the Bills have is that they have been using the combine olympics as opposed to game film to evaluate talent. That's how we ended up with Maybin who posted great stats for his position. The HOF is full of LB's that didn't run a sub 4.4 40 Willis is very athletic but is he better than Lewis, or Urlacher, who ran slower times?? maybe, maybe not. I like McClain in this slot. I hope we have a shot at him. With this reasoning would it be fair to say until Jerry Rice runs a 4.3 forty its not fair to compare him to Don Beebe.
  14. When you have an opportunity to draft a potential pro bowler that can play the pass and is a run stuffer, you take it. LB is a position of weakness on our team we need to build it. In fact not knowing the FA situation for the year we need to come away fron this draft with 2 LB's. McLain should be one. OT is a serious position of need but after Okung there is a drop off, with about 5-6 others very similar in talent. We should be able to land a solid one in the second and bolster this with more OL help later in the draft. QB, for us to be able to turn the ship around fully we will need to trade or go FA. Kevin Kolb or Troy Smith maybe even Mike Vick could work here. Then draft your potential future QB so he has time to develop. This what Parcells did in Miami. If the FA Market allows. We should target a OT, G and DL. Positions we need to upgrade to be a true contender. QB - Keep Fitz, he is a quality back up that can play in bad weather. C - Hangartner is not it. Move Woods there and draft a guard WR - Hard to say until we get a quality QB. DE - Try hard to keep Schobel and target DE in FA DT - I like the thought of drafting here. We need to get bigger. Many of your quality DT's are captured in the later rounds. LB - Draft 2 that are big and strong with speed and you will see a tremendous difference in run support. McLain is a good start. Trading back in the draft and trades will be needed to generate more picks Parrish, Lynch, Edwards, Poz will generate the most interest. Lets face it they all have missed games and literally weren't missed. They all have had flashes of being decent players. I wouldn't let them all go but who ever I could make the first deal would be gone. Let's take advantage of it. I would try to get a 3 and a 4 from trades.
  15. Sounds like a choosey begger here. Nix is 70 years old. I don't thinks he give a rats butt about being one and done. Lets get a coach who is going to win...period. I can't believe you would even put Cam Cameron in the mix here..he mastered Miami to a one win season. He makes Jauron look like Vince Lombardi. This is a very funny post.
  16. He turned Tampa from a loser into a playoff team and keep in mind Indy was 6-10 the season before he arrived. I guess Payton wasn't coaching to well before Tony got there.
  17. I thought Billick was an OK coach. He won the superbowl by making solid adjustments during the season to just get points on the board and letting his defense take over. He then followed it up by making one of the dumbest moves ever by letting Dilfer go. When Marvin Lewis left he promoted Rex Ryan to keep his defense together which was smart. Then his ego would not let him admit he made a mistake with Kyle Boller. Boller was the real reason he lost his job. He lobbied to get Steve McNair in which seemed to be a smart move for a year. His fate was sealed when he made bad decisions in the game that gave Miami it only victory in their 1-15 season. Billick is a smart guy but sometimes he tends to think he is above listening to anyone else. If he has learned from his experiences he would be just as good as Cower maybe better.
  18. You might be thinking of Mary Levy's idea of a Tampa 2. He was enamored by watching Tommy Harris play the middle when looking at the Bear games. Keep in mind Tampa had Warren Sapp and Booger McFarland in the middle of the original Tampa 2 which is basically a cover 2 defense.
  19. Maybe they should interview Perry. Why don't you have your people call their people and set it up.
