  1. Why trade Lynch when we will just have to draft another RB if we do. Lynch has had a bad year but had 2 1000 yard seasons prior and just one year removed from the probowl. He was the only one on the team that showed any heart. More than Whitner, and Poz combined. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but he is tough and he was tough from day one. It didn't take him three years to learn how to be tough. If we want to start trading people why don't don't we start with our useless defense...lets face it no one would give us a 2nd rounder if we packaged all three starting LB's in the deal.
  2. I saw where Seattle's first choice was Pete Carroll of USC. Maybe he just doesn't feel like interviewing for a job he knows he has no chance of getting.
  3. You're put on adminstrative leave with pay.....the leave must be spent at a country club of your choice or you could really incur a huge fine.
  4. I don't think Guy or Modrak have the final say so in the personnel matters. They evaluate and recommend and the GM pulls the trigger. I see a huge difference between the different GM's in the free agents and draft picks that we made with Guy and Modrak doing the leg work. The blame for our lack of free agent success goes directly to the GM. When it comes to free agency we pinpoint a group to fulfill the need and the a choice is made by who ever has the final say so. For example if Guy says I have two FA QB's to fulfill our needs we should look at Matt Shaub and Ryan Fitzpatrick and the GM chooses RF. It will look as though Guy doesn't know his stuff where in actuallity it 's a bad GM decision. The same with draft picks. I clearly don't know enough about the process to say that these guys are doing good or bad. I don't think anyone else does either.
  5. Totally agree. Coaches that run any defense well know it's the talent and not the scheme. We need 2 starting LB's as you indicated and a stud DT. McLain would be a nice start. I have seen posters that feel that if we get a good OLB, we are set. We need 3 talented LB's. We can settle for two being signed or drafted and let the existing three starters fight it out for the final spot.
  6. Not sure if your saying the Tampa 2 sucks or the Bills Tampa 2 sucks. Tampa 2 is a good scheme although I would like to see a change. We just don't have the front seven to run it properly. Talent is our problem which will keep us from being good in any type of defense. We have to get bigger and better players at DL and LB. Our secondary was very opportunistic which is good because quite a few interceptions occurred when the QB had time to throw. The secondary will only get better once we get a better pass rush. Trust me the only reason our pass rush statistically looked decent was because teams didn't have to throw to beat us, they could run so easily. The Browns proved that.
  7. This should be a no brainer I hope the Bills don't screw it up if it comes down to this choice, Rolando McLain. We play very poorly collectively at our LB and T positions. No one at any of these position on our team could probably start on a playoff team this year. Our LB's and T's you would rather play against instead of with. Rolando McLain is the Patrick Willis/Ray Lewis hybrid that comes along once in a blue moon and the top LB in the draft that we will have a shot at. We will not be able to land the top LT but we can land the top LB. Many posters feel that we only need one LB and that will allow us to go from being ranked 30th against the run to being top 10....please. We need two starting LB's from this draft for quaility and depth purposes. We can get the best T on the board in round 2. I don't know what free agency will be like this year with the CBA issues. So we have to draft smart if we go LT in the first then there is no LB's that will make the big impact that will be available in the 2nd. Spikes won't last that long. Tackles run a little deeper than LB's this year.
  8. Really don't know much about him other than the fact he has coach numberous ex Bills. Whats the line on him?
  9. Billick is a smart guy and he knows his stuff. His achilles heel seemed to be evaulating QB's. I hope he has learned from the past. I like the fact that he is not intimidated by the task in front of him. Cowher seems as thought he may be some what intimidated. When I hear things like he would like to have security in the QB position. He doesn't come off like Parcells that jumped at the opportunity to rebuild a 1-15 Dolphins team. I wouldn't mind seeing Billick in the role. I don't want Marty's kid Brian...not at HC anyway. How about Billick at HC, Martz at OC and Crennel at DC.
  10. If you were picking a team or the best RB at the peak of their career, how would you rank them. Where do you put OJ and Thurman? I have Jim Brown as the best. But at the peak of all of their careers if I was picking a team it would be OJ after Brown. Until someone gets 2000 yards in 14 games it will be OJ for me. I'm going by what I have seen and I have seen all of them play quite a bit. 1 Jim Brown - The most powerful..period. 2 OJ - The most spectacular since Gayle Sayers. No one ever caught him from behind. Contrary to opinion he could catch. 3 Barry Sanders - Really deserves to have the all time record. Could have played longer but didn't. If he didn't play for the Lions with a bad OL he probably would have had more yards. 4 Eric Dickerson - Powerful and dominated when he played. Didn't always play for good teams. 5 Walter Payton - Outside of Jim Brown probably the toughest of the bunch. He and Emmitt had long term durabilty better than the rest which resulted in long careers and great numbers. Again played for bad teams until the end of his career. 6 Emmitt Smith - Very durable, read the hole amazingly. Probably played on better teams than the above. Marcus Allen and Thurman were probably 2 of your best receiving RB. Better than the above. I just don't think they were top 5.

I'm going by what I have seen and I have seen all of them play quite a bit. 1 Jim Brown - The most powerful..period. How many times did you see Jim block or receive? 2 OJ - The most spectacular since Gayle Sayers. No one ever caught him from behind. Contrary to opinion he could catch. 3 Barry Sanders - Really deserves to have the all time record. Could have played longer but didn't. 12. Bruce Smith - best Bill during the glory days OJ - Probably the best Bill. The 2nd best RB of all time. Due to his post football activities this is not the most politically correct answer. He was the most spectacular Bill and for the majority of the 70's was the only Bill worth watching. Eric Moulds - If he only had a quarterback to throw to him. Though the numbers don't support it I think he is arguably the most talented Bills receiver of all time. Thurman Thomas - Could do it all. Jim Kelly - Never got the publicity that Elway or Marino got. All he did was kick everyones butt with regularity. Cornelius Bennett - We didn't become a winner until he came. Andre Reed, Cornelius Bennett, and Steve Tasker should be HOF bound in my opinion.
  13. I live in the middle of Redskinville after growing up in Buffalo. There are many things I like about both cities. If Buffalo had the same weather as DC I would probably be living there now. Other than that my money goes much farther in Buffalo. Buffalo is known for bad weather in the US but if marketed properly it could be the Miami of Canada. That is one of the attractive points about Toronto. It's one of your best weather locations in Canada. I don't see Shanahan as being the savior he is touted as being. However the Redskins aren't that far off. With a few OL and QB changes they will compete soon. Just like the Bills they lost more games due to stupidity than bad play.
  14. It's not the scheme, it's the talent. Most schemes will work if you have good talent and good execution.
  15. The Bills are comprised of quite a few players like Whitner (Kelsey and Poz come to mind). These are players that play in the range of average but haven't lived up to the hype. They can do some good things at the same time alot leaves to be desired. When you look at our safety position I think this is the most solid on the team. Whitner doesn't get you the pick as good as Byrd or Wilson. He is solid against the run, but so were Scott and Wilson. I would like to see more of Harris. I would leave this unit untouched. Byrd and Wilson or Byrd and Scott seemed more productive in creating turnovers. I would keep Whitner though I don't think he should start on this rotation. He adds depth. Certainly not worthy of the 8 pick but I am not going to hate him for it. I blame the FO not Whitner. However with the CBA up in the air the Bills may want to generate more draft picks and the safety market is never strong in the draft, he may be the most marketable Bill in the trade market. Problem that I have is that during the pre season several Bills played very well but very seldom saw the field during the regular season. Palmer, Ellis, both Harris, and Lankster. Palmer, Harris played very well once they got the opportunity to get in a game. Our coaches obviuosly hand out starting positions without people honestly earning them on the field. Lets stop annointing and make players honestly earn their spots.
  16. Depend on how the combine inflates and deflates talent. We could end up picking Maybin again but I'm hoping that we can get McLain. I just don't think Suh or Okung will be available.
  17. The defense will need to be address first. We will have a shot at some very good people in the top 10 but it depends on who is left. I believe we are picking ay 9 (not sure). The new staff has work on both sides of the ball, but you have to be able you stop the run or your offense will never get on the field. A new coach will have to address the 31st ranked run defense. The issues that we have aren't scheme related, it's talent. We just don't have the talent at LB, DT, and DE. We have one of the weakest middles in the league. The stats show it.
  18. The cover 2 sucks don't get me wrong. It wasn't the scheme that put our LB's out of position. Its stupid undersized non instinctive LB's. Tampa, Indianapolis and Chicago went to superbowls with the cover 2. If we switch to a different defense with the same personel we will still suck. We need talent.
  19. The Bills have already scheduled Billick and Rivera for next week. With Cowher in the mix it seems that they maybe going about things correctly. I see many fans and bloggers have a low self esteem of Buffalo. Buffalo is one of the few cities where you can a true international flavor. I see Buffalo as the ideal choice for a Cowher or any other coach. Ralph has spent money in the past he just hasn't had the good advice to direct him where to spend. Thats because he not hands on. This would be a perfect scenario for Cowher or any coach seeking to have more personnel say so. I done a lot of work in Tampa and it is not a big sports town but the weather is great. They don't sell out when their team is average. Buffalo is a sports crazy town with lousy weather (in the winter). Let see if the old boys can pull it off.
  20. I agree....This sounds like it could be another David Shula about to happen.
  21. I'm mixed about Billick. He won the Super bowl and then got rid of the QB that got them there. Many people including myself feel as though he kept the Ravens from winning another one with that move. He could not evaluate the QB position properly. Never had good receivers after he left Minnesota. Other than that the guy knows offense. I would be curious on who his DC and OC would be. Don't discount Rivera. He is a sharp guy that deserves a shot.
  22. Kelly was known to have a strong arm however Elway was the QB in the 83 class that had the reputation of having the rocket arm. Kelly had no problem throwing the ball in bad weather. He was known for his toughness more so than Elway and Marino. Marino was the pure thrower of the bunch.
  23. He also stated the smaller teams tend to wear down which is clearly us evidenced by so many games we have lost in the 4th. Our defensive front 7 is extremely undersized. It will be interesting to see how he goes about the transition. How he will prioritize offensive and defensive needs since we have so many. One thing I don't think we will see as much is players being annointed starters without truly earning their jobs...thats probably more of a head coaching thing.
