  1. Why wait until next year to roll the dice. Lets see what he can do....now. This will help us plan for next year as well. We need to know who we can count on.
  2. This is clearly the player that should be our first round pick. If drafted would clearly be the best player on the defense. The rest of the picks should be on the OL and DL depending on what we do in free agency.
  3. Maybe thats why the Patriots lost today. I didn't see the Pat's LB's performing that way win they were winning superbowls. If you really think that Poz is one of your better LB's. Just take the time to watch a Bills game. He just another bad player on a bad defense. Poz is not the only issue with the Bills defense but his role is to be the QB of the defense and after 3 years he still plays like a rookie. We need him to be a Cornelius Bennett or Darryl Talley type of leader and playmaker. Can you honestly say Poz is in that class. As far as stats go, before Ellison was injured he was leading the team in tackles.....so much for stats.
  4. Agreed. I would spend most of the draft picks building our lines on both sides of the ball. I like LB McLain in the 1st. The rest of the picks should be OL and DL picks. Lets draft for size, strength and speed. Most importantly let draft people for there natural positions, no more tweeners. If Clausen or Pike happen to be available I might go for one but a FA QB would give us a better chance to win quickly.
  5. I agree but it depends on where we draft. The two choices that will have tremdous impact on our team is Russell Okung or Rolando McLain. I'm leaning toward McLain. He is a cross between Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis. You just don't pass up that type of talent. Lets shoot for the best free agent QB available and draft on the lines.
  6. Not a big Poz fan and he is clearly not the LB Fletcher is. Poz clearly is not the only issue with the defense. The MLB position should demonstrate the attitude and toughness of the defense. Poz does neither or as much as I hate to admit it maybe he does. I don't see Poz as a starter. He is serviceble and would be a solid player off the bench and maybe even better getting traded for a 3rd round pick. Poz does not have the speed to play the outside. He doesn't have the strength to shed the blockers or the instinct or toughness to play the middle. I saw him get pancaked at least three times last night. However he did get through on a delayed blitz..I was shocked to see it was Poz that got through. He clearly did not seem to have the heart to smack the hell out of Sanchez when he was running for a first down on the play where Sanchez was hurt. Poz just stood and watched while Corner made the hit. Poz will make the tackle as opposed to breaking up the pass so this gives him a few extra tackle per game without telling the real story. On many big plays Poz has the best seat in the house. Many big plays by the opposing offense are made in Poz-land but there is enough blame to spread around here. We need to upgrade our starting defensive front seven and bring in bigger and tougher players....lets avoid Penn St. when doing so. Penn St. has become the General Motors of college LB's recently, only Penn State doesn't recall bad products as well as GM does.
  7. It's time to look at our team for what is so we can move forward properly. Theory - Our OL needs one or two pieces (mainly LT & G) to become a good line. Truth - Opposing teams have no problem pushing by Hangarther and Levitre up the middle. Eric would is the only constant here. We need a LT, RT, 2 guards depending on if we move Woods to center. Theory - Our running game is sound. Truth - Our best RB is 30 and underpaid. We need to add a 2 versitile run and catch RB to the group. We need 2 because we just don't know what the off season will bring from Lynch, hopefully a better conditioning plan if no off field trouble. Theory - Our QB's suck Truth - Our QB's really suck Theory - We would be better with a 3-4 defense. Truth - We will improve with better talent. It doesn't matter what defense you play. All defenses can stop the run when you have talent or maybe I should say well coached talent. We can't get consistant pressure on opposing QB's. We can't stop the run. Stroud and Schobel are the anchors for the line. Both have pro bowl appearances but neither are playing at the level they once did. Why wait until we squeeze the last sack out of these guys before we get more talent. Our off season should be devoted to getting bigger and stronger players on the front seven. No more tweeners. Do we really think that Mitchell, Poz, and Ellison will improve in a 3-4. For every good play they make there are 5 plays where they play as if they are clueless...and they are. They can't shed blocks and when they blitz they are often rendered ineffective or pancaked by blocking RB's. We need to start over from scratch with the LB unit. Are present starters would be solid off the bench. When Bryan Scott a safety can start at LB and out perform our normal starters that telsl me we can dismantle this group, raise the talent level and not miss a beat. Coaching is the caveat here. No matter how good your coaching is the successful team have solid veteran leadership. We can not get rid of all of the knowledgible veterans and build strictly with rookies. Rebuilding can be done in one or two years. We just have to recognize talent better. Jim Kelly stated stay away from California QB's, in the same vein I will add stay away from Penn State when drafting.
  8. I agree Ron Wolf seems to have the best credentials. What is he doing now? Would there be any interest.
  9. I agree......we lost due to a lack of situational coaching. We were just too stupid to win those games.
  10. Miami could have punted the ball on 4th down instead of going for it but they took advantage of the Bills lack of run defense. How can they accuse Buffalo of running up the score when they consistantly handed the ball off.
  11. Wrong, the reason he dropped in the draft was that teams were concerned over the fact that he had a learning disability. How would he handle the more complex systems....His college play was very consistant that's what made him a first rounder. I believe you may be referring to Andre Smith.
  12. THANK YOU for posting this. I totally agree...I am amazed how his name keeps coming up... He is not even an above average defensive coordinator let alone head coach.
  13. At the time I don't think any one disagreed with our need for a DE. It seemed as though we had a lot of Orakpo supporters...myself being one of them. Orakpo clearly was not starting material as a DE so they moved him to OLB where he has 6.5 sacks this year. The Redskins coaches wanted to get him on the field because they felt he would learn better by playing instead of watching...I wish the Bills would adopt this attitude. I think Maybin's future will be at OLB we should start playing him there now. Cushing and Oher have been outstanding. but would having Oher give TE the balls to throw the 20 - 30 pass and not play scared checking down all the time. Would having Cushing increase Poz's instincts to run toward the play instead of away from it and not allow the defenses to exploit the middle via run or pass??? As you pointed out we need better personel, it would have been great to have started the process last year instead of next year.
  14. How do you know...Fewell really hasn't been a HC and Haslett was not very successful. Haslett is no more than a defensive coordinator an a very average one at that. Fewell needs to show me something in the upcoming weeks...I don't believe he will. New blood please.
  15. Casserly took over a Redskin superbowl team from Bobby Bethard and slowly turned it into a bad team. Keep in mind before Casserly stepped in the Redskins were a consistant playoff team and superbowl contender. I was living in DC during this period. The whole town was glad to see him go. Casserly is a good football analyst but don't be fooled. If we bring a proven loser like him in, it wouldn't be long before we refer to the Dick Jauron era as the "good ole days".
  16. Plus the fact that most of the players he drafted for the Cowboys were players that he recruited for Miami. They were all from Florida so he had a history of scouting these guys from high school. ie Emmit Smith, Michael Irvin, Nate Newton among others. He was not nearly as successful with the Dolphins because he didn't have that type of personel history with the college players at that time.
  17. I think the key word is "good". They both are very mediocre and would not start for most teams but would bring us draft choices from the 3rd to 5th rounds. After 3 years we can't keep treating them like rookies we have to realize when players will never be more than mediocre. Poz - Often injured, slow, makes constant bad reads, always takes bad angles on tackles, sucks in pass coverage, never completes a tackle at the point of impact, can't shed blockers, make few to none impact plays. Other teams are killing us down the middle whether passing or running. When other teams are in the red zone their TD's usually goes thru the land of Poz Whitner - OK on run coverage but is often invisible on pass coverage. Doesn't position himself well for the play. Jarius Byrd has done more in 5 games than Witner has done in 4 years. If both of these players were drafted in the 5th round of their respective drafts I wouldn't complain but they weren't. Neither have lived up to their draft positions.
  18. Lets put an end to the Charlie Casserly for GM garbage. When Bobby Bethard left the Redskins he left them a Superbowl contender. Casserly took over and made bad decision after another turning into a very mediocre to bad team. I was living in DC at the time. We couldn't wait to see him go. He was eventually fired. After a stint of doing television which he is better suited for he was hired by the Texans. Once again he showed he could not take a team to and beyond mediocrity. Why would we want him as GM when we have an opportunity to pick a proven winner.
  19. Agreed.... Haslett sucks. Never won anything on a HC level. Bring in Marty if you want a proven ex Bill.
  20. Not a fan of the throwbacks. Can't help but think of the awful years that allowed us to draft #1. The colors are nice but the standing buffalo....please. Not trying to hold on to those memories I like the superbowl uniforms. Lets just field a winning team, a playoff contender and trust me these uniforms will look better.
  21. For GM I like the idea of Accorsi and Wolf because both are proven winners. I would also consider Chris Polian as well. Chris is young and looking to break out of his dads shadow to create his own legacy. For HC I lean toward Marty because he has a proven track record for building teams and creating a winner. Lets face it Norv Turner could not have built San Diego in to the winner it is. Shanahan lucked out with Elway and Davis (mainly Davis). Once they left he had a hard time winning on that level. Haslett will have Bills fans wishing Jauron was back. Not a good choice here. Years of experience and not a proven winner. Billick, I would be against this pick as well. He just could not evaluate the QB position. When he did find a QB to take him to a Superbowl, he stupidly cut him the next year. Many people thought Billick was the reason they never returned to the big game. Who ever is named HC has many former HC's to choose from that would make great coordinators.
  22. Can anyone name a successful headcoach from the Bill Belichick tree? Many assistant coaches even some GM's but no successful head coaches in the NFL. The jury is still out for Josh Mc Daniel in Denver. Based on this I couldn't go for a present or former Belichick assistant coach for a headcoach.
  23. Don't forget Ryan "speed demon" Moats....Poz will excel off of the bench playing behind a MLB that is athletic and smart enough to handle the position. If we have new management next year that is looking to increase draft picks Poz may be worth a 3rd round or maybe even a 2nd round pick if paired with another player in a trade.
