  1. If the coaching had called the proper defense instead of an all out blitz it would have been more of a jump ball. Everyone knew what was coming except our coaches.
  2. I watch many Washington games when they don't conflict with Bills games. This was a steal, he will take Singletary's spot if if Devin isn't careful. JD brings the excitement. We will not be drafting a RB.
  3. Our picks balled out during the football season but the lost ground at the combine. I have no problem with that. It tells me that they are ballers when the game is being played. I don't put a lot of stock in the combine especially when players make a jump from a low 2nd rounder to a top 15 pick with out playing a game. I don't care how fast your 40 is or how many reps of 220 you can lift. Let see the game film.
  4. Not sure why the silly comparisons. Both GM's over paid. I'm beginning to question if Beane can close a good deal and not over pay, except when dealing with ex-Panthers. I think our defense is in need of a 1st round pick which was dealt. Missing personnel will be replaced with ex-Panthers??? If Josh can step up he will have receivers that can get it done. We will need a TE and another RB for our offense to click.
  5. Maybe should have kept him especially when you look at the chemistry he and Oliver developed. Addison is in decline and Klein has peeked into a solid mediocre player. Reader can offset the loss. Though Beane tends to lean toward ex-panthers.
  6. Agreed. We can not put up points like the other teams. But we are not far off. It's not all on Allen although he must improve. Our coaching has to step up as well.
  7. I agree, I don't understand it. Is this because a lack of trust in Allen or maybe McD doesn't have the killer instinct to finish a team. We have been in situations where a first down would end the game, yet we handoff 3 times and punt. I hope there is some maturing in the coaching mindset as well.
  8. True but the Bills anemic offense have been all season long. The other teams may have scored less than 20 in the playoffs but in the regular season they have had multiple occasions where the have put up 30 or 40 points. Not the Bills. The Bills have lacked a killer instinct all season long. They become very conservative when they get leads. This is a McDermott play it safe mindset...sometimes you have to go for the kill.
  9. Love Josh but at this point in time it's Watson..easily. With that being said hoping for a Bills win on Saturday. Mahomes, Jackson and Watson seem to really excel in their second year. Josh has not excelled as quickly as the others but he is progressing and getting better and winning while doing so. His 3rd year may be the charm.
  10. I will join you going out on a limb with predictions. Score - Bills 24, Texans 23. Bills will get 3 turnovers, 2 pics and a fumble. Allen will not throw for 300 yards but he will run for 60 with 1 td on the ground.
  11. Nothing far fetched about Mahomes success. Lamar has to prove it over time. Lets not be negative about their success. Jackson and Mahomes have first round byes and both will own MVP trophies after this season. Most good coaches will customize the offense to fit the QB...to a degree. Lamar has gone from average to MVP with 3 games where he has thrown 5 td's. Nothing hollow about the schedule issue, we played a pathetic NFC East, the worst division in football in years... I'm ok with that. To your point the Bills are winning games that they would lose in other years so Mc Dermott deserves credit especially managing games where Allen isn't at his best.. To the original point of going from playoff caliber to championship caliber the Bills will need more from Allen. Keep in mind most QB's need 3 years to develop and I think Allen is one of those QB's and he will need to improve in the areas discussed. No problem giving credit where credit is due and with a 10-6 record there is a lot to credit but you have to remain objective about how to get better. Nothing negative but not looking away from the facts.
  12. Hindsight is how we judge based on historical and not real time performance. With that being said I was not a naysayer on the deal when it happened. I felt he was considered due to his history in Carolina. But you have to take off the blinders on this one, bad move. It wasn't as bad as McBeane starting Peterman opening day against the Ravens. Someone should have realized he was lousy. Did he not pay attention to the San Diego the year before. Was Benjamin more responsible for ending the drought than Shady?
  13. Lets not look past the obvious, this was a bad move. Every GM has made bad moves at one time or another, Beane is no exception. Lets not try to rationalize a bad move based on a prior good relationship.
  14. Your grading reports have been fun to read and spur conversation. With that being said I see Josh as a solid C. Would like to see him reading the defenses better (cover 0 gives him problems). Would like to see a solid and consistent deep ball. ( too many over throws...google Joe Flacco) Quicker decision making on runs that are not called in the huddle. I would like to see more screens, quick slants and plays where he moved the pocket ( I don't put this on Josh, I don't think Daboll sets him up to succeed very well.) Teach him how run and effective 2 minute offense...When down by 4 and 2minutes left, I don't feel confident that he can get the job done. You got to be able to score more than 17 points per game and throw for 300 yards. These changes will allow his point production to increase and allow the Bills to beat good teams.
  15. The Bills were fortunate to have the schedule work in their favor this year but we still could not beat the good teams consistently. The Bills have trouble scoring more than 17 points per game. I expect they will be better in these areas next year. I would like to see Beane have a great draft scouting effort and picking the best players, as opposed to trading away picks to pick Josh Allen when Lamar Jackson could have fell in your lap (see Doug Whaley and Sammy Watkins). Not totally sold on Beane yet.
  16. I'm in total agreement. The Texans are very up and down. The Bills struggle to score more than 17 points a game. Neither team will go far and will be fodder for the next round.
  17. I'm obviously looking at things differently Roman was a good coach and doing a great job now. Lets face it Rex can get any coach fired. Tyrod and Allen are allergic to open receivers. Tyrod would protect the ball... maybe to a fault. Allen is extremely careless and doesn't have the pocket presence. Tyrod would occasionally put up 30 point games. Allen has trouble getting to 20. I know I will be criticized but I don't see Allen being a step up from TT. I am banking that JA has an upside that we have not seen yet.
  18. His performance is a D due to mistakes at critical times. I think we tend to be very kind to Josh because he is young and we so desperately want to anoint someone as the next Jim Kelly we tend to sugarcoat the obvious. He needs to know the playbook better so he can under stand quickly where his receivers are. Jordan Palmer stated he was working with Josh regarding anticipating what his receivers are going to do during the off season, this is still an issue with Josh. This is clearly evident when Matt Barkley comes in during a JA injury it seems as though the whole field opens up although JA has a better arm he doesn't see the field as good. We will never regularly score 20 pts a game or have 300 passing yard games until this happens. ( The Tyrod comparisons aren't far off) Notice how Carson Wentz was throwing screens and swing passes. This is how coaching can manage the game for a young QB. This should be part of the game plan from the beginning of the game and not a halftime adjustment. Our coaching staff feels Josh is a little better than what he is at this point. He needs better focus so some of these fumbles can be avoided. I remember there was a time not long ago when QB's took 2-3 years to develop ( Drew Brees, Payton Manning, Aaron Rodgers) Josh is going to be one of these guys..hopefully because there is a lot of upside here but don't be afraid to draft a QB in round 3 next year.
  19. I would like to see the play calling get better for example down in the red zone all attempts were passes no run attempts, I believe we just needed 2 yards. Not on the Brady level yet where we can forget about run-pass balance in those situations. We ended up getting a field goal. Again on our last possession we should playing for game ending first downs instead we get conservative, 3 handoffs and then punt giving Miami a breath of life. Belichick knows how to go for the kill. Josh has to work on seeing the field better going through his progressions quicker. Missing open receivers.
  20. What bothers me about Josh Allen is that there is a Jay Cutler-ness about his game that I don't like. He needs good coaching.
  21. I will add that this was somewhat of a low risk deal as well that he tried to pull off but to my original point you have to be consistently professional and say your piece behind closed doors. What other GM's have you seen do that on camera? Not as impressed.
  22. Correct, but now that they are together they make a very interesting braintrust. Keep in mind Mayock has never held a position in the GM chain of command. I liked his reporting but not impressed with what I have seen so far. Go Bills!!!
  23. That's because Mayock is a large part of the problem with his rookie John Wayne style of GM. His comments should be behind closed doors instead of in the media. His all in or out comments were totally inappropriate on camera. Gruden and Mayock together??? Was Kalil Mack a problem? Was Amari Cooper a problem? This AB situation is an attempt to CYA for a dumb a$$ Amari Cooper deal. They deserve what they get!
  24. He was considered a great defensive coordinator not a head coach. He led the Browns to a playoff birth after losing seasons followed up by another losing season. The genius of BB was having enough sense to draft Brady in the 6th.He was not a winning head coach until Brady started. Once Brady arrived it afforded BB the opportunity to turn his ship around.
