the media and buffalo fans made Trent Edwards' nickname of Captain Checkdown nationally famous. what are you going to call Fitzpatrick?

john - do you think the bills should have given fitzpatrick that huge contract now... or should have waited until the season was over?

fitzpatrick should be judged by a higher standard now. a franchise player standard (that's the contract he signed). fitzpatrick hasn't even come close to the abuse Captain Checkdown had... and at least the bills only were paying Captain Checkdown an average of $460,000 when he was here.

i agree with the thread. the bills look like they made a snap decision in giving fitzpatrick $24 mil guaranteed. i would have waited until the season was over to truly judge what contract value fitzpatrick was worth (stop gap QB like the others in the past... or long term answer). even though i liked trent at the time... i don't believe there was ever talk of a contract extension for trent back in 2008 when the bills had a similar fast start to that season. the bills only paid what was originally signed throughout trent's contract, which was 3rd round money.

brohm has a $2 mil salary this year. fitzpatrick makes $932K edwards makes $624K let's see if brohm is twice to four times as good as fitzpatrick or edwards.

Not once have I ever seen a thread on this board on how the D has failed the team... and hasn't had the ability to make timely stops in winnable games. Then... the D Coordinator gets promoted to HC. Great move.

A loss is a loss. Same old had the lead... and lose at the end. No different when Trent played great against NE... and then the muffed punt... and the defense sucking balls. You fans were so quick to hail Trent... then hang him in effigy. now your doing the same to Fitzpatrick... hail Ryan. Can't wait till you hang him in effigy too. This is a TEAM WIDE ISSUE. I hope Trent lands with another team and kicks the Bills' asses. They deserve it.

... and still lost. Not a Trent Edwards issue. This team is broke all the way around.

What can the Bills do to shore up their defense? I think this is the most important issue right now for the Bills. NE drove at will in the 4th Quarter, esp up the middle. Leftwich/TB also drove at will at times. Brees/NO must be salivating if the Bills D continues at this pace....

i've seen a report that Trent Edwards' salary is between $460 to $624K for 2009 and then one more year in 2010 for roughly $100K more than 2009 2011 he's a free agent.
