  1. Maybe I'm seeing a different game than some, No one on our defense was consistant. - Secondary awful. Sure they made a couple of good plays but eventually gave the game away with stupid plays. Too many penalties. I was impressed with George Wilson's run coverage. He was the only defensive player to make plays consistantly. Unimpressed with Reggie Corner and Donte Whitner pass coverage. Corner seems to drop an interception every game. - LB's sucked. Poz made a good interception and then proceeded to let Wes "the Beast" Welker drag him 4 yards for the first down. The LB's were virtually non existant in the run game in the second half. - The DL gets an A for effort. Stroud, Wms, and Schobel made plays but in the end they still fail the test. mounting little pressure when Brady was passing, unable to stop the run. None of these units can bring it all game long. Our offense look Ok when running the ball but awful when passing. The Patriots could get to the QB any time they wanted. Did we ever pick up a blitz. Our line has to be one of the worst in football. They can make opposing defensive front 7 look like hall of famers. We clearly need three new starters here. I actually felt sorry for our talentless qb's. I thought Brohm would come in after the Edwards cameo appearance. Why not give Brohm a shot, if he actually plays well where he may win a game, we can always yank him so he doesn't spoil our excellent draft position. Jackson plays with heart...he is our most underpaid player with out a doubt. No one on offense should make more than him. For some reason we tend to reward mediocrity better than true talent. Josh Reed makes a great catch and run only to drop a potential TD that could have put us back into the game. Nelson seems have a lot of potential, if only he could catch balls thrown four feet behind him. There is no way I can judge the receivers until we get a qb that can throw to them. Lets not sugar coat the performance. This is a 5-11 team with out many impact players. Going onto next season I can easily see 8 new staters on the team, all upgrades in order to be competitive.
  2. Keep Jackson and Moorman...upgrade the rest.
  3. Whitner - Not worth being the 8th pick, can make the good and bad play. Thats our whole defense. see Poz, Mitchell. Ellison, Kelsey, Schobel. Thats why we need to blown the whole thing up. We have solid players but we can still upgrade in those positions to a probowl caliber player. Any position on the team office or defense that dowsn't have a probowl caliber player can be upgraded. McKelvin - Clearly has pro bowl potential but he does need to be physically and mentally better. I say he is a keeper for now. Maybin - Lets discuss this one next year. I haven't seen crap from him this year but it is to early to judge. Not fair to judge him yet especially after Losman, Edwards, Whitner, Poz, McCargo, Lynch were all given three years just to show average abilty. All of these picks are wasted ones in hindset.
  4. Okay.....we are trying to build a winning team, do you have a plan for that?
  5. Understand the Bills need great players and a QB should be drafted in the top two or three rounds. - Aaron Rodgers sat behind Farve for years and he is playing great now. Can the Bills afford to wait on a 3 year project. Why not get the best free agent QB out there and get a Tony Pike in the 2nd. - Flutie made the OL look better because of his experience, something a good FA could do. - We have the worst run defense in the league. When you have a Rolando McLain available who is said to be the best mlb since Ray Lewis, you go get him..period. - I am amazed how people can get enamored with the college QB hype each year.....You draft for the sure thing and none of the QB's in this draft are that won't be taken in the first 5 picks. I agree that a good QB is worth the gamble but this team has many needs not just QB.
  6. In total agreement with McLain, I like the Pike pick in the second which means OT, DT, G, DE, OLB with the emaining picks. Hope we will be able to attain a FA OT, maybe Gaither from the Ravens and a guard as well.
  7. I like you am in the DC area and go to frequent Redskin games. Fans are totally disappointed at the way he consistantly misses open receivers. After three years the last two weeks have been good because they are focused on running the ball. Keep in mind the Redskins went 2 years with out scoring 30 points in a game. This was largely due to his inabilities at QB. He is very slow to read defenses and still learning to put touch on the ball....It was very disappointing seeing him struggle against Detroit, KC, Carolina, St Louis, Tampa all of whom were winless. Tough watching him consistantly fumble or throw the picks.....He has single handedly cost Zorn his job....Bad move, he is a coach killer.
  8. This is the winner here. I see 3 sure fire picks in this draft, Suh, Okung and McClain. They could all fill positions of need on the Bills. McClain should be there when we pick. This guy has pro bowl potential all over him. In fact I would only pick Suh over him. If Okung is still on the board I still go with McClain. Why waste a pick moving up in the draft? The remainder of the picks should be placed on OL, DL and LB's. These picks should focus on size, strength and game film as well as speed and lets take a year off of the cornerbacks.
  9. I really like what McKelvin brings to the team. He has the potential to be a top notch corner and returner. Although I like many was really pissed at him after the NE game. I place the blame on our coaching staff. Bellichick consistantly challenges his players with situational coaching and briefing them before big plays. I don't think that happens here. If it did you would not have seen the errors by McKelvin and Parrish. Sure these guys are paid a lot and should know better but coaches are paid quite well to be good coaches and most good coaches go the extra mile to review the situation to make sure everyone is on the same page. People have called for Lynch and Poz to traded. Well in the purging of talent that we gone through in the past few years the Bills management have taken away the on field veteran leadership that could have accelerated their learning curve. I think Poz still makes rookie errors because of this. I would have loved to see him play behind London Fletcher for a year so he could benefit from a vet. Lynch is the same. It would have been nice to see him learn from a veteran on how to block as well as pass catch and hitting the hole because it seems at times as though he has no clue on where the hole is. The same goes for Whitner and Edwards. Notice that Kyle Williams plays much better since Stroud has been there. The Bills management totally under estimated the value of veteran leadership. These guys have had to grow up on their own. None of these players should be traded...you're not going to get much for them anyway. However when you remove the veteran leadership it has to be replaced by excellent coaching and I don't feel that it has been. Young players have to be set up to succeed not just plugged in to figure it out and perform.
  10. The fact of the matter is he has 9 pics from his position which is more than we were getting. Byrd can be better in run coverage but remember that he is the free safety and not the strong safety. His job is to defend the pass and create the turnover. The middle of the defense is normally handled by the mlb with safety help if long. Thats why Poz has taken such a beating in the blogs his pass coverage and instincts are suspect. It's not just Poz, opposing offenses always try to match up a TE on a linebacker because this is usually a mismatch. Asking how is Byrd with out the pics is like asking how is Florida without the sunshine. Because that is what he is suppose to do.
  11. If TE were on the 70's Steelers teams they would have won six super bowls instead of four. If TE was QB of the 90's Bills we would have won 4 straight SB's (the commish would have thrown in a 5th because TE is just so damn good.) If TE were the Lions QB last year they would have been 16-0 and stomp a mudhole in the Steelers behinds. To hell with Unitas, Montana, Marino, Manning or Brady....TE is the greatest of all time. Our poor offensive line and TO are responsible for ..... - destroying the economy - the JFK assasination (I think they killed MLK and RFK as well....Hangartner always has a smirk on his face) - the Beatles break up (Yoko should sue the bastards. TO cried over Tony Romo but not over John Lennon when he was killed...thats because his ass is guilty) - Britney's breakdown and Paris Hilton going to prison (just unforgivable...Goodell should suspend these guys for life) Have you ever thought everyone realizes that TE is a back up at best. He has had more than a fair opportunity to succeed and bringing in another good receiver has just exposed his weaknesses. Time to move on.
  12. Why didn't Carolina win the game if they had everything figured out. Sounds like sour grapes.
  13. You have to give props to the Redskins coaching staff. Initially they didn't feel that Orakpo couldn't not provide any improvement as a DE but they wanted to get their best athletes on the field so they moved him to OLB. At OLB he got the reps needed to improve. Now you are seeing a much different Orakpo in the latter part of the season. The Broncos did something simlar with Ayers. Doesn't seem as though our coaches feel that approach will work. I like the way the Redskins found a way to get Orakpo on the field. Thats how players develop.
  14. Agreed, Poz is basically a poor man's version of Brian Bosworth that makes everyone look like Bo Jackson. Poz and Boz..go figure. I didn't see where he performed better than DiGiorgio he just had better publicity coming into the league. After a three year try out it's time to get true talent at the mlb position as well as other positions. Does Whitner look any better than Byrd or Wilson or Scott? Not really, I think we have the type depth at this position that we should have at all of our defensive positions.
  15. FYI - Jon Beason is an NFC pro bowler. This subject has been beaten to death. Refer to prior threads. Poz has taken a beating on this site. I believe the posters that look at him honestly actually like Poz, but they like the Bills even more. We just don't feel that MLB is the position that will suit his capabilities. We would all like to see what he would look like on the outside. Because he doesn't have the over all speed and instincts to play the inside well on a consistant basis. Rolando McLain (Alabama, MLB) would look nice in the middle.
  16. No need to look to hard Rolando McLain should be our 1st round pick. Put Poz on the outside. When McLain hits people feel it. He is the sure shot pro bowler in the draft (along with Suh).
  17. Poz and Whither will be watching the pro bowl from home this year. Both have had good moments....for that matter everyone on our sorry defense has at one point this season. They have had years to be consistant and they haven't. I wish we played the Buccaneers and the Chiefs every week, they would be all-pro....but we don't. We need better from the so called team leaders. Moorman is the closest thing to a beast that we have on this team.
  18. Don't hate. Orakpo is doing his part. Lets hope the Bills can add to the defense with solid draft choices next year.
  19. Have you considered that maybe he realizes that Poz is extremely over rated and a below average performer at mlb. These guys watch the film each week. They know who the performers are. I was on the Poz band wagon his first year in the league. Now I think he is a huge problem on defense. Rolando McLain should be there when we pick in the draft. This guy is a game changer and hits hard. McLain should be our first pick. Go OL in round 2.
  20. Maybe...maybe not but the Steelers clearly made the right choice. It seems as though you don't feel that Tomlin was a better candidate. Trust me if Grimm was better he would have gotten the job.
  21. I was working in Tampa during the transition period you are discussing Actually it was Dungy that put the key pieces of that team together. Rich was the GM prior to Tony arriving and could never do anything better than a 6-10 record. Tony led the effort to rejuvinate the defense by drafting Warren Sapp who was somewhat blacklisted because of character issues. The best move McKay made was hiring Dungy. That was it.
  22. If they were high caliber coaches they wouldn't be in the UFL. Haslett is not a winner as an HC and just an average coordinator. It is somewhat disturbing that his name surfaces when the head coach discussion began. Fassell went to a superbowl but has not been successful in his stint as offensive coordinator for the Ravens. Not a bad option. Cotrell did not win as a UFL coach. I think Greene is a good coach but his teams would always win against tougher oppenents and lose to the weaker ones. Lets go in a different direction. Mike Martz has express an interest. I would prefer Martz over these guys...and I think Martz sucks but he would be good if he could bring in a Rex Ryan type of defensive coordinator to work with him.
  23. Full agreement with Rolando McLain he should be our top pick, whether we go to a 3-4 or not. We need to start drafting players with the potential to be pro bowlers. I would love Suh, Okung or G McCoy. I just don't think they will be at the 7 or 8 spot. The remainder of the picks should bolster our OL and defensive front 7.
  24. Very realistic. It looks like he is running away from the play.
