  1. Don't disagree with your points but the GM is not in the trenches when game planning or directly responsible for on field execution. The owner and GM's responsibility is indirect. Both teams looked quite prepared. Let's face it the Colts and the Saints were clearly the two best teams all year long. A time out before the 4th down play wouldn't have done much, I think the game was determind at that point. I think it was a well played game. Three plays stand out. The onside kick, the missed field goal and the interception. I don't put either one of these on the GM or coach, I thought it was poor execution from the Colts players. I think the defense was lack luster on each side. It didn't seem that either defense was stopping the other team . That's why the onside kick was key because it kept the ball out Manning hands. A good coaching move. I couldn't help but think of Norwood when the Saints kicker kicked the 47 yarder with confidence.
  2. Lets not forget Brees is now a Saint as opposed to a Charger. The Chargers had 3 years to evaluate before giving up on Brees The Saints never drafted him. Maybe you should include always take the best FA QB first as well. This philosophy worked for GB this year. The teams were already there the QB was just a missing piece of the puzzle. The Jets with Sanchez and the Steelers with big Ben prove your theory right as well. We need to get a solid QB but we also need to keep building our team in the process. It seems as though if you don't draft one of the top 2 QB's your rolling the dice on someone that help in the short term.
  3. I think we are nit picking here. He has coaches that are going to the superbowl. You can't overlook that. The coaches don't play the game. The onside kick did not bounce off of the coaches hands. Nor did the coach throw the interception. The Saints took chances and took the game from the Colts. I did think the Colt play calling at the half was very conservative and in agreement with you I do think they were outcoached or maybe I should say out executed, but no way do I put this on Polian's ability to pick a coach. Dungy won against the best team the NFC had to offer and he beat some good AFC teams getting there. The Bears were a good team but only for a year.
  4. Congratulations to the Saints. I never thought I would see teams like Tampa Bay, New Orleans win Super bowls before the Bills. I am secretly hoping that the Texans, Lions, Cardinals, Falcons, Browns aren't celebrating in a victory parade before ours.
  5. I would be surprised to see anyone in the NFL there. We are talking football dammit. I have known several Mensa members. Some had as much common sense as a pile of rocks...but they wore there Mensa badge proudly...kinda like the ugly girl that participates in the beauty contest. However I am not a Vick supporter so I would say pass.
  6. Every player has to have their mind in the right place before they go out there. But whether a player is smiling or not on the sidelines doesn't necessarily have anything to do with his will to win, Some probowl players are very intense on the sidelines and some aren't. Who is to say one has a stronger will to win. If you have played sports and actually gone into a zone or witnessed someone that has, they are often laughing and joking because everything is going their way. ....If good running backs are dime a dozen, why do we have such a hard time getting one. Lets get another one of these dime a dozen pro bowler RB's on our team first before we let one go. Why increase our needs and we have many, by releasing a RB that is one year removed from a probowl. As much as I hate Lynch's stupidity off field I love his toughness on field. He runs every run as if it were his last. He is not easy to bring down and for quite some time he seemed to be the only Bill that played with heart. I would keep him and insist he comes to camp in shape. I would also draft a RB as well.
  7. Here is the really real deal. Since we are so thin at RB and FJ is 30. We will need to have Lynch's replacement on the team before we ship him anywhere. Think of the Eagles QB situation, their replacement is already there. It would be foolish to act otherwise. We need to have 3 RB's that can potentially start. We keep him this year and lets see what happens from there. Would like to see the Bills get serious about a lot of things prior to releasing Lynch. I would like to see the Bills with a better plan on acquiring players as well as a plan for releasing players. Besides I know the Patriots will be smacking their chops to pick up Lynch. As for the sideline demeanor I don't care because it's not indicative of what's on the field. If we are winning players on the sidelines can smile and laugh. If we are losing no sideline laughter is allowed??? I focus more on the on field embarrassment than the sidelines but I understand your frustration. I get more pissed when TE blows and easy pass and then smiles and starts clapping his hands like "don't worry we'll get em on the next play".
  8. I thought Marty was the man to get them over the hump. When they hired Norv Turner I knew they would never see a Super bowl. Norv's record looks a lot better by taking over a good team but prior to that I didn't think he deserved another shot at head coach.
  9. Good list. Brown was the only RB that was better than OJ. If you had seen them play there wouldn't be any question about it. Lets not forget OJ didn't play on good teams either. They were very mediocre teams. If you go to Chicago they will probably have a hard time naming the Bills QB's when OJ was there as well.
  10. I don't think true Bills fans will abandon the team because of an unpopular decision... with that said I was hoping they would make an attempt for Troy Smith. I liked the way he looked in Baltimore when he and Flacco were going battling to be the starter. Not really a Vick fan, never have been...but I'm not judge and jury either. When they named Chan Gailey as head coach, I certrainly didn't agree with the choice but thats my team. Though he hasn't been in any trouble I still had to take few deep breaths. The Bills are always making unpopular decisions we just have to deal with. I was in Baltimore when Art Schlister was drafted and arrested for gambling. Fans said that Irsay was a terrible owner and they wouldn't support a team with a criminal on it. Those were the same fans that were boo hooing when the Colts left town due to no support from fans...it appeared as those the fans weren't ready to give up football as they indicated. They cried for 18 years until they got another shot. They see things differently now. Vick has served his time..if the US legal system says he is OK to be back on the streets and if Roger Goodell says it OK for him to play, then its OK with me. If Chan and the Bills leadership go in that direction I will grin and bear it but I would rather see them pull the trigger on Troy Smith. I think they can accomplish the same things.
  11. What I realize is that great linebacker play got us to those Superbowls.... No matter how you assess the play of the various units in the first SB it still came down to a very makable FG in the end.
  12. If it wasn't for injuries Byrd may not have started this Bills squad. I don't see any of the Bills LB's today being as good as Bailey or Patton. These guys were very under rated because of the pro bowlers all around them. In fact I pine for the days of Spikes, Fletcher and Posey when I see today's LB's. I don't think today's LB's could have cracked that line up.
  13. Leonard Smith, Mark Kelso, Henry Jones later on. I think our safeties back then could hit better than our safeties now. Our present safties are still a work in progress. I think they are a strong point if we can keep George Wilson. Wilson and Byrd have the makings of a great combination in the secondary. Stroud is stronger at the point of presence than Wright. Think of Emmitt Smith running down the gut of the Bills defense. Our LB's were great. If the Bills win a SB, Cornelius Bennett and Daryl Talley would be in the HOF. Evans gets the nod over Beebe but I would have loved to have seen Moulds in that line up.
  14. You hate to see the race card played but true in this case. I have seen people like Bill Romanowski spit in another players face. No issue because he is was an intense player. When Sean Taylor did it he was an animal. When you are talking smack you should always be ready to get smacked. It's always nice to know that posters never make mistakes and can't possibly understand someone else making one. I would mind seeing him or another decent runner drafted because we are thin at the position.
  15. Most good coaches have been fired a few times. Especially if they have been in the league for 15 years. Google Chan Gailey.
  16. Bruce and OJ are the only two Bills that are clearly in the top 3 all time at their respective positions maybe Tasker but thats it. At the time of retirement OJ was #2 in rushing yards second only to Jim Brown. Bruce is #1 all time sacks. No other Bills have this type of status. Believe it or not I believe Andre Reed was in the top 3 in yards or catches when he retired as well.
  17. OJ and Cookie can't argue those choices. OJ was clearly the best Bill but he is not the politically correct answer. Joe Cribbs and Thurman I would reverse just because of longevity but Cribbs was a monster. He carried the the Bills. I hated to see him go. He had HOF potential but decided to go for the USFL bucks. Can't leave out Bruce as well.
  18. Why oh why can't the Bills make the playoffs.... Sorry, it just got a little corny after the second "why oh why".
  19. Shotgun take away your play action fakes. On a good play action the defense loses site of the ball when the QB fakes the handoff. Your draw plays aren't nearly as effective. You loose your abilities to pitch the ball out as well. The exchange from the center to the qb is riskier.
  20. Drew was great in his last season with SD. When Drew left we all knew he was going to win. TE doesn't play very well against the elements...he is not a bad weather guy but he would make a solid back up.
  21. They haven't played the Senior bowl yet. It's this weekend.
  22. Jealous? Don't be. Being a good human being has nothing to do with wealth and wealth sure as hell has nothing to do with intelligence.
  23. ??? Most good football players benefit from the other good players on the field.
  24. Since we have so many needs wouldn't be a good idea to move down and gain more picks or stay put and keep what we have. As opposed to giving picks away.
  25. I wonder how he would feel if the shoe was on the other foot. I know many conservatives and liberals that care about others. Not sure where he is coming from but thats his perogative.
