  1. I think they could use a guard. Hangartner is a weak spot at center. I wouldn't mind seeing Wood at Center and a solid talent at guard.
  2. Watching last years Bills games were tough for a couple of reasons. - Watching them blow games that were close in the 4th quarter. - Watching our lack of run defense or pass rush. - Watching TE play scared or constantly checking down. The most important thing we needed out of the draft was to get bigger, stronger and faster. Our key players in the front 7 are small and weak. They are gamers but tend to get dominated. Kelsey, Williams, Poz, Ellison are gamers but they are not strong. With Maybin being an unknown and Schobel's pending retirement (and both being undersized) we clearly needed to get bigger and stronger. Troup was taken because he was one of the strongest NT's at the combine and an everydown player that has started for years. He doesn't take plays off and constantly commands a double team. Cody is a 2 down NT that wasn't that strong at the combine and Cam Thomas had a great Senior bowl but was very mediocre during the season the knock was he didn't play hard. Carrington was a beast at Ark. if he was from Penn St. he would have gone 1st round. He has started for multiple years and played at a high level..he will be the steal of the draft for us. He is 6'5" at 285lbs, he can stop the run and get heat on the QB. He can bull OT's. When Maybin grows up he will be Carrington. Batten is another that will provide a huge upgrade where Ellison now resides but Batten has size, strength and speed and has started for years. Good at rushing the QB and stopping the run. Haven't seen much on his pass coverage skills. Adding these guys in the rotation makes us bigger and stronger and should give us a better chance to win the close 4th quarter battles. If we are lucky enough for one of our past draft picks like Ellis, or Maybin to have a break out year we will be that much better. Expect our OL to look like by the mid season RT - Green RG - Calloway C - Wood LG - Levitre LT - Look for FA support here This line up is bigger and stronger and very physical. This will give the QB and extra second to make a play or check it to Spiller or Jackson. Lynch will become the redzone back. Bring back Josh Reed and I think we can win improve our record by 3-4 games.
  3. Giving the draft a grade when done is merely an excercize. It means nothing. The grades we get only reflect the fact that we didn't go after the QB early. Bills fans that know haven't forgot the fact that we were in many games until the 4th quarter only to have the defense give out on us. This was due to having a smallish defense that was worn down by the opponent. This was addresses in the draft. We became bigger, much stronger and better against the run. Getting a playmaker in the back field that can break it at anytime help Capt checkdown. Keep Lynch..he is the only one from his draft that has played tough and with heart. Don't even try mentioning TE or Poz. We will need all three RB's this season. They scouted small schools very well. Carrington, Batten were dominant at their level and will be the reason why this draft will eventually grade out to an A. Only Chavous sees this because he plays the game at a higher level than the other analyst did.
  4. I understand exactly what ChanNix were thinking. They clearly under stand that our QB's are Capt checkdowns. Spiller is the checkdown option that can bust the big one or at least make something happen more so than Lynch and Jackson. He will clearly be a difference maker even with the same QB's
  5. I hate to say it but you are probably right. Nix and Gailey have started the movement to make this team bigger, stronger, and quicker. Nix and Gailey know we have Capt checkdown qb's so they drafted Spiller, some one that can make the big play on checkdowns. I agree with the pick. I feel that we could have drafted Clausen in 2 and still ended up with the picks we a got a round later. Didn't fully understand the draft logic. The Bills shouldn't have to become a worst team to become better..not sure if the FO feels the same. With that being said I like the picks that were made Troup has a history of being a long term starter that can play every down and that doesn't take off plays. Thats why other DT's were on the board longer. Carrington has small school beast potential. I look forward to seeing the defense this year. However I am going through cornerback withdrawal..round after round and still no cornerbacks. WTF! I don't care what the needs are, the Bills are supposed to draft at least 3 db's whether we need them or not. I'm still giving ChanNix the benefit of the doubt...let see what they put on the field.
  6. Either way they will be too tough for a good D to penetrate.
  7. When the regular season ended I didn't think Spiller was on the radar scope. I noticed him at the combine because he was one of the quickest players there and drawing comparisons to Chris Johnson. Once they brought him in for a visit is when I really started checking him out. I have only checked out highlight films which always make the subject look great. I can't say I have seen him play but I really like the pick. I really like the fact that we are going for talent because we don't have much on each side of the ball. I expect to see them build up the lines and get a QB before the weekend is out.
  8. Free Beer...until you don't care about the game anymore.
  9. Keep in mind it wasn't until Thurman called out Kelly after Kelly called out the "House" did they start acting like team mates...How quickly you forget the Bickering Bills. Once they got by the bickering you can tell the guys cared about each other. There needs to be leaders at just about every position which is one reason why you never let all of your vets go. Lynch, Edwards, Poz, Schobel, Kelsey, McGee, they are not your leader types like Moulds, Spikes and Fletcher in recent memory. Whitner has tried but has been roasted for his effort. Players have to start playing above average to be able to fully assume the role as a leader and only Schobel really qualifies but he doesn't seem very vocal. It doesn't seem the guys are as unified as Bills teams in the past.
  10. Not losing a lot of sleep over this one Taylor was done when Parcells let him go the first time. He will be a role player for the Jets...an expensive one at that. Torry Holt will be a good addition for the Pats. He is an excellent route runner and HOF candidate. The Bills seem extremely passive in the off season with the rest of their division seemingly getting better...but lets see what happens...we still have time
  11. Bulger and Campbell never should have been starters but they were. Smith played to same level of Joe Flacco when they competed against each other. He won a Heisman. Yes he would be a gamble just like Whitehurst with the Seahawks but for a 5th I would take a chance. There is clearly an upside here. What did Warner do until he got an opportunity. What did Shaub do until he got an opportunity. These guys sat on the bench for years.
  12. You were correct in your prior quote. I'm in the DC area as well...Campbell doesn't have the football smarts to win consistantly or even occassionally. People amaze me when they get caught up into the stats. They don't realize that sometimes you throw for more yards when you are playing from behind. He struggles with pocket awareness and reading defenses. This has been an issue for 4 years. The Redskins OL hasn't always been bad. He just doesn't see the field very well. If the Bills have the attitude that "you play to win the game" then they will take their chances in the draft. Kyle Boller, JP Losman, Jason Campbell are all cut from the same cloth. Great practice QB's that can't put it together on the field....lets bring in personnel that can help us win. Fitz is the better QB when you watch both play and we all know Fitz is not the solution to the Bills QB situation.
  13. Refreshing to see someone that doesn't want to write about the Cowboys and Patriots all of the time. We could use another Carrucci.
  14. Everyone has their price but this won't happen. How else do you put a scare in Ben's arrogant a$$. I'd bet my empty wallet on it.
  15. Greg Haefner..Who in the hell is he and where does get off with this sophomoric journalism. If he writes another article like this I will lodge a formal complaint to the bleacher report upper management. I can see right through his approach..he is actually belittling us by saying we are doing the right thing. Not fooling anyone here buddy. Scumbag!!!
  16. Everyone, we are talking football here. It's not a complicated game. The only ones on the field that need to have high Wonderlic scores are the coaches..and they aren't taking the test. Curious..has anyone seen the type of questions on the test? Are they football related or general SAT type questions? I know there is a small group of people that believe before you hand someone millions of dollars you want to know if they can handle an algebraic function or understand rock formations. That's like asking before the heavyweight championship fight, what did the fighters get on their SAT's? I don't think it is indicative of their true football talent. I know after the season players prep for the combine with trainers...do they prep for the wonderlic as well?
  17. I'm a huge McClain fan as well. Not sure how a Bills fan could not want him after watching Poz, Ellison and Mitchell. I think the real value of the draft will be in how Nix and Gailey can pull starters out of the 3-7 rounds. How do they evaluate small school talent. What gems will they be able pull from other pools to help our OL, LB and DL. I feel they are doing the due dilligence with the top picks but their meddle will be tested with the later rounds. Outside of the first pick we still need to find starters (not depth players but starters) at the other positions.
  18. He was hitting on Larry King's soon to be ex. I here she is looking for someone a little more mature than Larry (doesn't have to be alive but preferred).
  19. Hate to see any ex Bill in trouble. I thought that luxury was reserved for current Bills only. I remember when he was drafted he was a project considered huge and needed to lose a few. Now 6'6" and 330 is perfect size for a Tackle.
  20. I have been totally perplexed by the Bills strategy over the past year(s). First drafting Maybin when there were other choices. Firing the OC right before the season began. Hiring Chan Gailey. Not being even semi aggressive in free agency. I can honestly say I don't know what to expect from these guys. Logic dosen't apply.. I have no idea who these guys are going to draft. I haven't been overly impressed by Nix and his we can't do it all in one year attitude when other teams have a we want to win now attitude. I'm willing to give Nix a chance by seeing what type of product he puts on the field. The new regime dosen't seem to show the urgency to make this team a winner anytime soon. I hope I am wrong.
  21. I should have said regardless, I stand corrected...as Dangerfield would say "tough crowd"
  22. When you say spread offense, are we talking Steve Spurrier type of spread offense which didn't work so well in the pro's or a variation.
  23. Irregardless whether he did it or not, after winning a verdict in one of the most talked about court cases in US history. Why didn't he just get the hell out of the country? He could have written his book or maybe been the fencing pro at any posh Cancun resort.
  24. Possibly...he has probably had enough of watching old "Baretta" reruns.
  25. +1 Big Ben has a problem and alot of money..enough to make surveillance tapes disappear. After the first incident I truly felt that he was the victim of a goldigger. I feel totally different now. There is a very uncomfortable pattern here. You bring up an excellent point. I wonder if the posters feel as compassionate about women being raped as they do about the tortured dogs.
