  1. For years Lee has suffered by playing for a team that refused to get a QB worth a damn. Just as Moulds did. He showed loyalty to Buffalo, has displayed excellent character and now suddenly he is garbage...please. It's nice to see the Bills finally developing some receivers. Lee is the one drawing the coverage. All receivers have drops but I can't remember ever seeing Evans drop one like Johnson did this week. He still has the best hands on the team. With a good qb Evans and Moulds could have had Marvin Harrison type numbers. Letting Evans go would be as stupid as letting Pat Williams or London Fletcher go.
  2. But the LB's are the teams biggest liability. They can all be replaced. Replace the one's whose contract is up first, hopefully with better players. I don't think Poz has the talent to be compared with Fletcher or Spikes. If Poz leaves we would probably be awarded a 4th round pick for losing a free agent. I would rather take my chances getting an additional 4th rounder.
  3. +1 I believe that if an offer isn't extended to him it will be because Buddy and Chan feels that he can be replaced somewhat easily. The fact of the matter is he can. I don't think Poz is starter material so if he wants serious starter bucks I would let him walk. Lets face it he is more of a fan favorite than good football player. Poz is not a strong tackler and his instincts are questionable. Sadly that is the persona the defense has taken. We need better talent at all of the LB positions including Poz's.
  4. You should know by now that everyone is a bust on this forum at some point. From the beginning of the season just about every player on the team has been a bust. In fact I am hard pressed to think of a player that hasn't been labelled a bust.
  5. I think this guy just needs more reps. He was in on quite few plays. He seems to have good moves inside, good instincts as well. Beast potential.
  6. I agree with your Scott and Wilson point although I think Whitner is the best hitter of the bunch. Thats why I think you lock all of them in with solid but not Kelsey type contracts. Your point regarding turnovers can be extended to the whole defense. Whitner is very solid against the run but he like the rest of our defense can look very foolish at times. Blitzing behind the line is a DC call. Safeties don't usually blitz unless the call comes in from the sideline and I have no idea what those calls are so I can't fault him there. I don't think we have anyone on our defense that can be considered elite. The question is how well can they assess mediocrity and translate it into a contract offer that is fair to the player and to the team.
  7. I'm in agreement. The secondary has been the best unit of the defense no need to break it up. I don't see the Bills breaking the bank on Whitner. I'm sure that Poz will be offered a contract, again the Bills should not break the bank on him. If I had to choose between the two I would have to go Whitner. He just plays with more heart than Poz and he hits harder and was leading the team in tackles as of last week. Poz constantly gets dragged 3-5 yard after the hit, but he has been getting better with reading the plays for the run, still a liability in the passing game. The LB's are the weakest unit on the defense so I would imagine they will under go more scrutiny when it comes to contract extensions. I do feel that Wilson should be starting instead of Byrd. Wilson has been underrated for years.
  8. But they don't have 2 gap DT for him to play beside. And up the middle....
  9. It comes from all over including the middle. Why are we so bad against the run? Maybe go back to the 4-3 and pair him with a true two gap DT.
  10. Don't feel this team has the true core players it needs yet. Don't feel these guys have the true impact and overall skills to be the core of a winning team. The are likable but not consistant or overly talented...lets see what the next couple of weeks bring
  11. Wonder how Nix and Gailey would score on the Wonderlic? I don't think we would want to know.
  12. I agree you draft linemen. You build from the line out. However you do have to have wide receivers that are good. We have a good chemistry with our guys now. Lets keep them in place. Lets get some lineman that can run and pass block and lets get a 2 gap DT and a stud DE.
  13. You're hindsight is working well. To bad the game is not played in hindsight. The DB's were doing a good job on Johnson thats what was practiced. The Lions wanted to get the ball to their go to guy so they took it up the middle and spreaded the defense. If a mismatch was detected on formation why didn't the QB of the defense call a time out or recognize the coverage and make the necessary changes. The players have to execute..they didn't. If we followed your mindset the players are never accountable.
  14. Not Edwards fault on that one. It was just poor coverage by the LB. Many teams have been successful sending their TE or RB's in the middle due to lack of coverage. This route had the WR going in the middle. Poz read it late and never looked for the ball. It pays to have a LB that can cover the pass and the run. I can't understand why Edwards can't get a pass rush by mixing up different types of blitzes. Bills are better off at this point with the 4-3 defense. I think they can mount more of a pass rush from it.
  15. Moulds was the one Bill that would be HOF if he had a good QB to throw him the ball. Moulds was the man...my favorite Bill since the Superbowl era.
  16. As much as I would like to say Gailey, Jauron has a better win lost record. The Gailey Nix era has been an embarrassment. I wouldn't keep any coach that can't win a game. I think Jimmy Johnson was 1-15 his first year. I don't see Gailey in that type of role. You mention that you think Nix and Gailey have a plan other than retirement. Why couldn't they start implementing the plan last year. Why are they waiting. I will believe the plan when I see it. I think most of the fans on this board have stuck with the team but we also know a team can be turned aroung in a year when management has a good plan and a sense of urgency. I think that Gailey and Jauron are better in the coordinator role. I like Gailey's straight forwardness and he seems like a good evaluator of talent but Jauron clearly won more games although he could bore anyone to sleep.
  17. The whole team is pretty bad which includes Poz as well. I saw Poz make a few stops today as did others, but at the same time Cutler made a huge 3rd down run right through Poz territory. There were big mistakes. He seemed quite challenged in calling the defensive plays. I remember seeing when he waved the defense in one direction and the play went in the other. I can understand why CG has Andra Davis making the defensive calls instead of Poz. The announcers made a comment as well saying that the Poz and the defense looked confused.
  18. Does Chan Gailey deserve to keep his job if the Bills go 0-16 or 1-15. I just don't see a couple of wins this season. I'm sure they might accidentally win one, but two?
  19. I'm a fan of the 90's Bills uni's. The throwbacks are ok for a game but I am probably the only one that doesn't like them. They look like some thing from the 50's...just don't like them. The reason I like the charging bison is because it is unique to the Bills. The standing Buffalo was on many items before the Bills existed, we just copied the image. When we changed to the charging bison the Bills were the only ones with that image. Others have since copied. Love the helmets they have now.
  20. I'm sure he will Sunday. Lets face it, we are no jauggernaut against the pass either.
  21. Honestly Sharpe was right on all counts. His basic points were that the Bills defenders play them selves out of position. Kelsey literally ran away from the play. Though Poz had one of his better outings how many times have we seen this over the years. We won't bring up the poor tackling. When broken down on the film our guys just look stupid, unable to read a play real time. Torbor, Kelsey and Poz need to be upgraded in the off season for us to stop the run. Hopefully we can resign Merriman. He should be totally healthly next year. He adds speed to the outside and can shed blocks. Something we are not good at now. Clearly not a Poz fan here and he does make too many tackles down field and is a weak tackler but with that being said I think he is better than Kelsey..but not much. Not sure how Kelsey got the bucks, Poz needs to talk to Kelsey's agent. For us to get better at LB we need to clean house.
  22. Hopefully the transition is just beginning. Kelsey and Poz are liabilities and contribute heavily to our porous defense. Williams has a lot of heart but he is not a true 2 gap dt, so he needs to play next to one which would make more since in a 4/3 alignment. Carrington is a question mark although he has size, not sure if he is an asset or liabilty at this point but I'm sure there is some upside. A good free agent and high draft pick would change the personality of this defense.
  23. I agree about Mike Shanahan. Mike needs to talk to his son about his play calling. As far as Nix goes I don't think Nix has a since of urgency to win now or to make the moves to get the right people in here. He has had a few opportunities already. Doesn't seem like he is doing much.
  24. Not really but fans know that we are an 0-7 team and would like to feel that the front office is doing something to change this. So far there has been no sisgn of life from them. We have watched football long enough to know you don't have to dismantle a 6-10 team to make it better. So when other teams tend to capture these no name free agents we tend to think they are trying to improve their squads and we are not...which seems to be true. When are they going to start improving the team.
