  1. I don't think any of these guys will be very successful. This is not the year for the QB. Keep in mind how often Gabbert was mentioned before Luck withdrew. I don't think he was even considered a first rounder but thanks to the hype he is now a top 10 pick...sounds kinda suspect to me. I wouldn't even consider a QB in the first.
  2. +1 Stay away from Matthews he just too small keep in mind he is not Clay. Von Miller has demonstrated that he can be a difference maker and has delivered in the big games. It's not any thing that Miller has done that concerns me. Maybin has clouded my judgement toward him because of his position, and size similarities. Merriman said of Maybin that he has all of tools he just needs to learn how to play football. Maybe Miller knows how to play football. Keep in mind Miller is about the same size as Cornelius Bennett. If it wasn't for Maybin I would be all for Miller.
  3. I didn't hear the particular comment that you are referring to but it wouldn't surprise me if your dead on it. Last year prior to draft you heard inklings regarding Spiller and Troup when everyone including myself was thinking OL and as it turned out they were the picks. There are little hints you can pick up with Chan and Buddy. I think there mind is 95% made up before the combine.
  4. Only if you believe the system is not flawed. I see a system that where innocent people are found guilty and the guilty can walk especially when money is involved. I think Ben paid for his innocence just as some feel OJ did. I don't think dog fighting is as bad as rape. The system is too flawed for me not to use my own judgement. Do you feel the system is perfect to take it at face value, I don't. I also admit I don't think we have the full story behind either case because both men did what they needed to do to free themselves as quickly as they could whether it was paying off an accuser or taking a plea bargain. So what is the real answer? Trust me you don't know.
  5. Give people credit for having common sense. People recognize BS when they see or hear it especially Bills fans.
  6. Totally agree. You bring up 2 very valid points along the lines of fathers with daughters and racial politics. So I would like to bring up a point on the racial politics, legal politics and pateral politics. I have seen a few posters mention the fact that Vick was worse because he was convicted and Ben wasn't. So these are posters that are very legally righteous. I'm sure when we talk one our favorite RB's OJ Simpson, you remember the guy that was not convicted of murder. Something tells me that the legally righteous wasn't standing so proudly to defend him. If not, you are probably employing your own racial polictics under the guise of course that Ben was never convicted. In other words is the color line is stronger than the legally righteous care to admit. Let me ask the question, you are a family man with a great wife, a daughter named Donna hoe and the lovable family mutt named Jauron. A man comes by the your house when no one is there and kills Jauron, the dog almost everyone loved. The next day another man comes to the house and rapes your daughter Donna hoe. Which man are you more angry at? I would be mad at the dog killer but I would have a tremendous urge to bust a few caps in the a$$ of someone that would rape my daughter, It sounds like some on this board (the legally righteous) would be more angry at the dog killer. Would you feel the same if Ben was black and Vick was white?
  7. You have to have all elements to win a championship. Keep in mind when Emmitt Smith was hurt and when he held out Aikman could not win. Emmitt was the key to the Cowboy machine. Aikman and Irvin where great supporting players. In fact I know one of those Superbowls the Cowboys where getting their butts kicked until they started pounding the to Emmitt f--kin Smith.... Elway would not have won without TD. The QB usually has the opportunity to make the biggest impact but not always do they. Go defense.
  8. The Bills could use more draft picks but trading may not be an option. I like Quinn but Kyle Rudolph? Why waste a 2nd round on a TE when we can get an ILB, DT (depending on where Quinn is directed to play) or a OT. Casey Matthews, don't fall for a small LB because of the family name. He's not Clay Jr. Don't know if we can afford to have two throw away picks of our top 4.
  9. +1 Never liked the white helmets, they are very bland (like the Colts) I thought the red helmets were the best looking in the league. I would like to see the red accented in the uni's more. While I like the throwback uni's, lets do something new and stop dwelling in the past. Lets see a fresh new design,
  10. Good lb's on teams that don't have great defensive lines, Willis and Beason come to mind.
  11. I understand the argument but there are good lb's on teams that don't have great defensive lines. But if he could shed blocks properly then we would not have to blame the DL. He would be able to shed blocks and 300 lb men wouldn't tie him up on many plays...there are players that do that. It seems as though you are blaming the runners for running in Poz's direction??? Our MLB should be able to lay a hit on any RB and make him think twice..that is not the case here. It would be ideal if your lesser players contract ran out first but that is not the case. So do you offer a 1 or 2 year contract, lock him in at reduced role at the same time draft a MLB in the 2nd and or pick up one in FA. Or do you cut your loses now and pick up some MLB's in the draft and FA and call it a day. Since Poz contract is up I would let him walk if he is not willing to take less. If the CBA issue doesn't get resolved I would address the MLB position in the draft potentially with a couple picks regardless of the defense we plan on using. I heard Nix say we needed to address the MLB position..I think he has evaluated MLB position (including Poz) for him to make a statement like that. Don't be surprise if they don't bring him back.
  12. How will better talent around Poz make him shed blocks better or not get dragged the extra 3 yards by rb's or learn how to cover TE's or pursue the play properly. I'm not sure how better talent around him is going to make him better. Good players make people around them better. I expect a good mlb to make the people around him better and not to wait for a good player to come and make him better. If the latter is the case he becomes very expendable. The front office needs to replace all of them because they all suck. I understand your phased approached but his contract is up now. Why delay the move?
  13. Poz played mlb in the games I watched which was all of the games (some of them via DVR). I saw Poz run him self out of plays to the sideline as if he thought he was playing olb. I don't remember him playing OLB or starting there but I could be wrong. You gotta face the facts about Poz, too many weaknesses to be consistantly above average.
  14. Time for a new MLB. Remember when we played in a 4-3 defense everyone said that Poz would be better in a 3-4. Well we have a season playing the 3-4 under our belts and Poz wasn't any better. It's time for a change.
  15. I totally agree. I like the fact that he is a hometown product but he draws to many senseless penalties at the worst possible times. I'm a little surprised by the move.
  16. +1 A good football player is a good football player period. A good DC will scheme around it. Wade Phillips did exactly that in the late 90's when he went to a more hybrid defense going from 3/4 to 4/3 within a week with the same personnel. Get the best player, the scheme is secondary and overated but not to be ignored. The reason why great players are drafted late is because they become labelled by scheme and coaches tend to overlook the fact that they are great players.
  17. Lets deal with the reality of our picks that we made and not the would have should have of could have been. As stated we lost two high picks for mediocre fan favorite. It's tough trying to measure the best of two bad picks. But we wasted 2 picks with Poz and only one with Whitner although it was a first rounder.
  18. People get on Whitner because Marv drafted him at #8. The Poz draft giving up a pick to move up 9 spots was worse because we lost 2 high picks for.....Poz. Poz is only productive if your a live in a stat book. He probably made more tackles than any LB in the pro bowl. The fact of the matter is he is soft, can't cover , can't shed tackles, and is very, very weak at the point of impact in other words he doesn't hit and gets run over by smaller running backs, makes most tackles down field. Think Brian Bosworth trying to tackle Bo Jackson and you have Poz. Ever since he has been on the team our defense has been weak. Whitner is average but our secondary has had flashes of great play with him in there. Harris is a going to be a franchise player on a great defense. I can't think of one team in the NFL that would franchise Poz if the situation warranted it. I think Nix hit the nail on the head when he said we need mlb's, we need to get bigger. A note to Poz fans, he is not saying get a stud to play next to Poz to cover his weakness', he is saying to replace Poz and find another. Poz is just to small to be effective. Personally I send Poz and Whitner walking unless they are willing to accept a reduced role and pay. They wouldn't be missed.
  19. I know this is unpopular but I have to agree somewhat. I thought he was over rated. If I remember correctly he was in the league 7 years before he even did anything. I know he played behing Joe but he took a long, long time to develope. I think most players would rather face Young than Montana. By the time Marino, Kelly, Brady, Manning, Elway, Rothlesberger, Montana, Warner were in the league 7 years they had gone to SB's. A good player? Yes eventually. Arguably the best player? No way, HOF...not before Andre. Shannon Sharpe, Michael Irvin, Lynn Swann, Dan Dierdorf????? I don't understand these.
  20. Is this the same Poz that usually gets hurt every season... That is one of the reasons Merriman came at a bargain basement price. If he is injured we haven't invested much. If he plays like a pro bowler, it's a steal of a deal.
  21. Opinion respected. But I have to ask some questions. Would you be so conservative if the shoe was on the other foot? Probably not. But if you have never made mistakes you may not understand. As far as being the gatekeeper on who deserves to make big money??? Have you ever heard Britney Spears sing? Does she deserve millions? Have you ever seen the Kardashian girls do anything worth while? Do they deserve millions? What about the creator of the pet rock....... Just sit back and enjoy the ride and don't hate. Everyone deserve a chance to make a living legally. Vick just has a skill set that commands more money than what most on this board does. My humble opinion thinks that priorities and pay structures are just plain out of whack. As corny as it sounds. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
  22. It's nice to see he is getting a second chance, I hope he makes the most of it. While I was never the a big fan of Vick, I don't harbor the hate and pass judgement as some do. The American system is set up so when people pay there dues they are alloted a second chance. It's pretty cool in theory. The fact of the matter is some people will forgive and some won't. By the way I'm not sure if a true American hero should come from the ranks of the NFL.
  23. I'm not conceding that Bulaga was a better pick not yet anyway. Bulaga went through some criticism this year as well. I don't think the success of the Packers lies on Bulaga's shoulders...please.
  24. Moran, a little word of advice. You or any other journalist can not hide behind the pen. Be careful what you write or you just might get your a$$ kicked. As far as the other bloggers...Whitner was the only one on defense that would hit someone this year, surely our pansy a$$ LB's weren't hitting. Whitner is a decent player but still in the realm of average with his suspect coverage. Clearly not worth breaking the bank over. But if his last name was Posluszny half of the bloggers out there would see a pro bowler. I think many journalist need the crap smacked out of them, maybe they would write more quality articles.
