  1. Maybe Gailey needs to start getting the most out of himself and become a big league head coach. I would like to see him stop the stupid wildcat plays that gives the other team momentum. I would like to see him go with the hot hand when it comes to running backs. CJ is having the best 1st quarter since joining the Bills... enter Tashard Choice??? Wouldn't it be nice if the Bills came into a game prepared. It would be nice if he and Nix could start evaluating talent much better. Pears, Fitzpatrick and Kelsay have become the problem and an insult to players with talent that are looking for a fair deal.
  2. They have resigned these players but these guys make up a very poor core of your team and the Bills should be signing good core players. The Bills clearly have a thing for these non impact high motor guys as opposed to players with obvious talent. Fred obviously is not high motor enough. Jackson was on his way to being the only true clear cut starting probowler that we have had in a while. Byrd had a good year but we were not sure until the voting that he would make it. The same with Kyle Wms and it helped Kyle that others players backed out, but Fred was dominant.
  3. I agree, pay the man! There is no doubt he was misused by Gailey from the stand point that Chan was burning him out. There was no doubt he was going to get banged up I just didn't think it would happen this soon. I think we will see CJ improve dramatically over the next few games. I do think the Bills will use this as an excuse not to pay him. At the end of the season Fred's stats will be unfair to him and the Bills will take advantage, not saying Fred won't get a new contract but it will not be as lucrative. I'm always amazed that some players have to proved themselves for years and still not get a good deal while some players get a great deal without proving themselves for a full season.
  4. I understand what your saying but I'm not if we just don't have the talent or the coaching. Merriman was a very good deal for the money. When he is in the game he has to accounted for. I am glad we still have him under contract. The defense has not been the same since he has been out. It gone from bad to worse. I agree with the rest of your points. When you look at his long term signings Kelsay, Williams, and Fitpaycheck this is not a core thats going to win games. The coaching is poor offensively and defensively. So good talent will never be developed. The only true talent we have had in years is Fred Jackson and contractually he is being treated like garbage. The jury is still out on this years draft but last years draft was not a quality draft. Carrington has showed potential and thats it.
  5. I love sports in general but the Bills are it. My sports allegiance lies within the cities I have lived in and actually have gone to games on a regular basis. Football-Bills and Redskins, Basketball- Washington Wizards, Hockey - Sabres and the Caps somewhat, Baseball - Baltimore Orioles. After growing up in Buffalo the Bills are the clear favorite of all of the teams. No team makes me happier or pisses me off more than the Bills. College sports doesn't cut it unless we are talking the championship games. I am a boxing fan but there is no one out there now that is worth a damn especially in the Heavyweight division.
  6. They have cap room so they could have offered more but management was smart to not up the anti. As far as being an indictment of OBD, I thought the Kelsay signing was the true indictment there. This organization is so use to being below average that when an average talent that looks to be a step up but still average comes along, they throw money at him. The real truth is that you can get a better talent than Poz off the waiver wire as Nick Barnett is.
  7. I think one of the smartest moves made by Gailey/Nix was letting Poz go. Poz will always be a stat guy but when you watch the games you get a true since of what he brings and how he brings it. Barnett is much more of an impact player. Poz is soft. As much love as the Bills fans showed him it is clear the scheme or the chance to be on a winner influenced him more. We deserve a better talent in order to improve. I wouldn't mind going back to the 4-3. With another draft and free agency season we should be able to improve remarkably.
  8. Keep in mind Bobby Bethard was the GM of those SB Redskins teams. Charlie bacame GM in 89 just in time to beat the Bills in the SB but make no mistake Bethard was the builder of those teams. I lived in DC for years and Casserly is no fan favorite there. With that being said I think Casserly is on point with the assessment of the Bills. Gailey devised a way for the Bills to win with out much talent at the OT positions now he has to build up the OT and WR positions while getting more talent in our pass rush. Other teams have figured the Bills out. It all comes to building up the trenches.
  9. Not making excuses but Fitz sucked badly. Maybe he was paid too soon. The offensive line didn't look prepared, it took them two possessions to get into the game. Did they look at any film this week? The secondary was bad and the 3rd down defense in general was awful. Donald Jones makes me miss Lee Evans. Will no doubt need to draft a speed guy with hands. But all of the above was better than the coaching. I clearly didn't understand the play calling logic. If a team is defending the screen well then you should stop calling the screen and call something else. We need to develop something other than a short game. At the beginning of the season I was hoping for 8 or 9 wins not sure we will get there.
  10. Good points a few more that I have noticed. Fitz is a mobile QB but I haven't seen any plays designed to move the pocket. We need a 1-2 punch in the back field. Fred Jackson and the rb position is being mismanaged. Braxton got carries behind OJ. Davis got carries behind Thurman but CJ can't get carries behind Jackson. If Gailey keeps running him the way he does Jackson will be banged up in no time.
  11. The way CJ is being handled is one of he thing I don't agree with Gailey on. Most teams try to develop a 1-2 punch with the running backs. Jackson has been great but no reason CJ can't get 5-7 touches from the backfield. It seems as though Gailey has abandon this approach and that makes it easier for teams to game plan against and it keeps CJ from developing as fast. Neither has the hands to be on the field during critical times. Neither has shown the ability to go after the ball. Neither has shown the ability to makes things happen after the catch. Roosevelt is better suited for now but next years draft has to provide us a long term solution here. Jones deserves a chance to develop but Martin should be planning for his retirement.
  12. Poz who? Aaron who? Last year clearly seemed to be an year of evaluation. Chan and Buddy practically gave away the first four games figuring out that Fitz and FJ were better than Capt Checkdown and Beastmode. Lets face it losing Poz, Donte, Maybin, Trent, and Marshawn was clearly addition by subtraction for us. I don't think we have made up the slack for Evans yet.
  13. Drive through DC city some time and you realize there are a ton of fans that could never afford the seasons tickets but are true blue fans just as Bills fans. Nothing elite about it. But no matter where you are your season ticket holders will be your most elite fan base (Not implying they are elite in some cases).
  14. I was listening to Washington sports talk radio yesterday. The were blasting Orakpo saying that he just doesn't play the run. All day Buffalo ran right at him and nothing. They called him a 3rd down player. They predict Frank Gore will have a field day running at Orakpo. They can not stand Kyle Shanahan but they know he is part of a package deal with dad saying he will never get a head coaching job based on what they have seen from him. They are tired of the Shanahan experiment saying he is a poor evaluator of talent and coaching. It's interesting on this board there was so much talk about Orakpo and Shanahan and now they are the center of the Redskin scrutiny. We are clearly better off at this point.
  15. I agree, as I said in another post, if the Bills could find a way to give Kenny Davis snaps when he was backing Thurman, they should be able to give CJ a few touches. In the 4th quarter Jackson looked as though his tank was running low. Why not put a fresh body in there.
  16. Williams played great in the Pittsburgh game. As I said I have never seen Williams dominate like Dareus (a rookie) did today. Dareus made the whole line play better. By the way this is a great discussion to have. Gailey has the ingredients to create pressure on oppposing QB's. Though it does help that we were playing against a bad QB today. Before the game I was concerned about lining without Merriman or Williams. My concern has been delayed for a week.
  17. I have never seen Williams dominate like Dareus did today. If Dareus continues to play as he did today I would keep him as the NT and move Williams to the end. Dareus looks better at the position and made everyone else look better as well.
  18. Would love to see this. I'm somewhat amazed that the Bills found a way for Kenny Davis to get touches backing up Thurman but Gailey can't figure out how to get Spiller touches backing up Jackson. Go CJ.
  19. Make no mistake Cam is clearly the better QB on a worse team. In fact take away a tuck rule and a few other bad calls, Dalton's record would be a little different. Just because you may hate Newton, lets not falsely justify Dalton being better. The only fault I see of the Bills in this loss was the absence of the blitz. Rookie QB's should get blitzed...period. Our defensive coordinator(s) should have given him the Mike Vick treatment. Our defense played up against Brady and Vick. I'm noticing our defense tends to play down or with less intensity with lesser QB's
  20. If you notice Fitz tends to throw off of his back foot a lot. Even when he is having a vey good day he throws off of his back foot. This was an observation a group of friends and I noticed when watching the Bills play KC in the season opener.
  21. On your first point, I don't think we have anyone on this team that can run a go route as good as Lee Evans. This was a game we could have used him providing the throws to him would be accurate. The go route was there today big time. Don't get me wrong I love what David Nelson brings but as witnessed against Cincy, Philly and Giants we have a hard time stretching the field. I smell a big and quick receiver coming in the draft.
