  1. A few additional points. - Pettine's defense looks better than what we had in the past but our guys our not a great tackling bunch. Many missed tackles. - Woods looks like the real deal. We need to ease Easley in to the picture. Not sure if Goodwin or Graham can be the spark. - Coaching??? Didn't understand the first challenge by Marrone. - Coaching??? Didn't understand why we would not go for a more time consuming approach with 5 minutes left in the game with a lead. - The read option or a pass on first down would have caught them off guard on our last possession. - Did not see CJ line up in the "I". That's his bread and butter. - Kiko has good instincts but he doesn't play fast when the play is not up the middle. He will get better, not a bad day for him. - Our offensive line gave very good pass protection. - The team looked very undisciplined on a whole.
  2. Can we send a note to Hackett that sometime you can call for a pass on first down.
  3. The real problem is that Spiller needs space as a prior poster indicated. If CJ is going to stand next to the QB and take hand offs it's not going to work. You have to put CJ in the I formation, pitch the ball out to him. Our running game play calling was amateurish today. I did not notice many different sets. In fact the conservative offensive play calling in the 4th quarter and the not going to a more time consuming game plan with 5 minutes left and a lead is what lost the game.
  4. I don't think Marrone ever really like him that much. Clearly has more upside than some of those he decided to keep. He could have easily made our practice squad. We might regret this one.
  5. The overall inexperience of the coaches in their present roles is a bigger concern.
  6. This was my only gripe about the coaching. This is where a coach can keep a team from putting points on the board. Coaches have to be sharp as well with what is going on. This one was a gimme.
  7. Don't think you will see him run with the ones this season unless there is more injury.
  8. Reminds of of Kirk Cousins last year. Came out and did everything well, needs work but he and Manuel were as prepared as any first preseason game QB we have had in years. Kolb may be odd man out, Tuel has taken advantage of the reps.
  9. +10 The uniforms of the 90's were the best. The uniforms now are good but there is to much blue. Need to bring out the red a little more.
  10. The Steeler Way... Isn't this where Doug Whaley tears off the false face to show that he is really Tom Donohoe in disguise and frantically laughs at the Bills FO and fans vowing to destroy the Bills reputation by winning games.
  11. Payments are made prior to trials and clearly not determined by the courts so the main witness will not testify. That how the legal team manages to beat the system when a client has money. Once payment is made the victims changes the story all the way to the bank. If the prosecution doesn't have a main witness they will not pursue. Common sense should indicate that if this is a recurring issue, there is a problem.
  12. How about Kelsey and Fitz. Professional thieves could not have stolen money from the Bills any better. Lets include Russ Brandon as well he steals a paycheck every week. Big Ben's legal team paid the accuser off. This was not the first time this happened to Ben. Lets use a little common sense here. I always felt that crimes against humans always ranked a much higher than animals. I look at the offenses that Big Ben and Donte Stallworth committed much worse than Vick. They were just able to pay off there accusers. They are all on the thug team.
  13. Love the opinion even though its wrong. If you had seen him play you would know that he was clearly the best receiver on the Redskins before the injury. He was the reason why fan favorite Chris Cooley was released. He would be the best TE we have had since the glory days of McKeller and Metz if signed and healthy. He and team mate Trent Williams tested positive for marijuana so that could be a concern. I'm any contract he signs would have provisions to protect against any recurring issues. I agree he has to pass a physical, if so this signing would have much more impact than the Lawson signing.
  14. Years ago I remember thinking there is no way that New Orleans or Tampa Bay would win a SB before us. Now I realize they had organizations that possessed the will to win. I can't say the Bills do. The Bills fans are tremendous and have a strong will to support a winner but the will to win begins and ends with the fans. It would not surprise me if we are the last to win a SB. I will still be addicted to the Bills but I sure wish the FO wanted it as bad as the fans.
  15. Just like the Ravens built the Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata defense around Flacco? Oh wait, those guys were there before Flacco. So much for the wait for the QB theory.
  16. The real issue is that we are witnessing a very poor GM in action. His rationale for not drafting a QB was that there not one good enough when the Bills pick came. Passing on Jimmy Clausen made him look good. Well he use the same rationale over the last two drafts in which we passed on many very capable QB's. Which made me realize maybe he doesn't quite have a handle on things. Now this free agency period... and nothing. I can see not splurging the first week but nothing?? Not sure if he recognizes that we have holes to fill. Nix is a poor GM with a likable personality and he gives a good sound bite. His approach to the off season is that of a coach that has just finished a 12-4 campaign and not a 6-10. His choices have not been very good so I can help but have a wait and see attitude regarding are new HC, a Nix appointee.
  17. Those teams you have identified as stockpiling QB's are much smarter than the Bills. They can recognize talent in the QB position and the importance of having a good QB. Nix has never built a team let alone a winner. He should be out of here already but the Bills are slow to recognize incompetence. Let's not forget Brandon's role in this as well. He needs to pull the trigger on letting Nix go or should be relieved of his responsibilities as well. We have not been any good since he has been in the picture.
  18. +1 People talk about this guy like he is Buddy Ryan with the Chicago Bears, he has never been a defensive coordinator prior. I hope he turns out to be great but he has not done a thing yet. He could be the second coming of Wanny for all we know.
  19. I can understand your logic but at the same time the Bills have gone years with out drafting a QB because they don't fit the scheme or management just didn't feel the players were justified to be drafted in the slots when the Bills drafted. We wonder if there is any strategy at all. The Bills FO needs to get off of the short school bus and get into the game. We know that many of the free agents are not worth the money they seek but no one is going to work for free. But when you are a consistent loser it seems like we should break the norm and become more aggressive and smarter in the draft or free agency.
  20. I always think that the goal of an organization is to put a winner on the field. To do that you have to be able to honestly evaluate yourself and take corrective action. This is something that the present regime can not do(Nix, Brandon). They honestly felt that Fitz was their guy. Even teams with elite QB's will draft a QB for depth if for no other reason. We know how to identify the bad players and cut them but we do not know how to replace them with good players. Losing has become systematic for the Bills. Their scouting, their drafting, the coaching, the choices of players to make the team are flawed, play calling, etc. We are now a team with no QB's, no WR's, no LB's, and a depleted OL, and a record of losing for years. Even if you plan on solely building through the draft you need to have veteran leadership at each position to accelerate the learning curve for the rookies unless you have very experienced coaches. No offense to Marrone and staff but all of these guys are in unchartered territory and will need time to develop as a staff. I would love to see all of the pieces come together quickly but I am bracing myself for a 2-14 season. Just as teams need to learn how to win, organizations need to learn how to be successful. The Bills will always be my team but it's extremely frustrating that we don't put the effort into quality as other organizations. We always seem to be a little slower figuring thing out than other teams. We just continue to create excuses and bad rationale for bad decisions by the FO.
  21. Many FA's can help the team but it looks as though we are not interested in improving the team through free agency. History has proven that we are not good talent evaluators so I am not very hopeful on us suddenly having a good draft as well. I'm beginning to think that the upper management feels that a new coaching staff should provide all we need. I thought we would move on Dustin Keller, Fred Davis is actually a better receiver but I'm not sure if the Bills are interested. Moore is a good Levetre replacement at guard. Once again it doesn't seem as though we are interested. I could be wrong but not much is coming from the rumor mill. Not sure what the strategy is here.
  22. How about rooting for Dan Darragh with the running game spear headed by Bob Capadonna. Now that was a team built for AM radio.
  23. But yet Geno is rated ahead of all other QB's. Recognize the smokescreen when you see it. If the QB's were just judged on arm strength, Glennon would be a lock. They will all have to adjust to reading the pro defenses just as they did the college defenses. I am more concerned with their ability to make the offensive reads and progressions as oppose to locking on to one receiver and then checking down. Pocket presence is important as well. QB's that get rid of the ball quickly can usually put opposing the defenses on their heels.
  24. In addition to your points -The ability to not turn the ball over in high pressure situations. - Would like a QB that can run a two minute offense. - Arm strength, arm strength, arm strength and touch when needed. - Some one that is not personal friends with the head coach initially. - A winner on prior levels. - Vision ala Tom Brady
