  1. Thank You for a dose of reality. The Bills were not looking to get Russell Wilson or they would have gotten him. They traded up to get TJ because they really wanted him. The "they were going to get Russell Wilson" theory is BS they feed to the fans to make you think that they aren't as inept as they are. The fact is they honestly felt Fitz was their guy they rewarded him accordingly. We have to be honest with ourselves, our front office rides the short school bus to the draft every year. They do a good job of justifying why we should not sign or resign players but we do an awful job of player evaluation for new talent and draft day strategy. It has been like this ever since Russ Brandon has been in a position of power. I expect no changes. The wheels on the bus go round and round......
  2. No FA is the savior but this approach will always keep us 2 years away. Building the team the " right way " only works if you draft the right players. I believe you build a winner anyway you can and then you maintain through the draft. Always go with the better players, as long as they don't break the bank. Ellerbee has developed into a very good LB.
  3. What Whaley said was so general and could be applied to QB's in every draft. Not sure what the issue is. Every team has values they look for in particular positions and the player(s) that fit those values the best are drafted.
  4. This is easy, Byrd is your franchise. He is a top five safety. We love Levitre's work ethics but he is not a blue chip guard. He gets handled to easy by the big guys to much. We certainly don't want to create another hole to fill but i wouldn't be surprised to see him in an Eagle uniform like our other cast offs. I think they will want to get bigger and stronger at this position. I hope they both can stay when it's all said and done.
  5. I agree. Over the last 10 years it seems that no one is good enough to be a Buffalo Bill. We are more concerned about bringing in good role models than good football players, too bad there isn't a Superbowl for good role models. Granted there is no sure shot way of knowing if you are picking a Warren Sapp, Randy Moss type or a Maurice Clarrett but the Bills need to prioritize football ability over anything else. Keep in mind I believe most fans have forgiven John Gruden for his DUI years ago, people make mistakes.
  6. Terrence was and is a class act. Whether it was interceptions or kickoff returns, he could always make the play. Injuries kept him from enjoying his latter years with the Bills but I think he is one of the players that everyone on this board respects and hates to see go. Best of Luck Terrance.....I hope this doesn't mean a cb in round one.
  7. Waited until the end of the season before even starting negotiations. Fitz has never demonstrated the ability to win enough to come close to making the playoffs.
  8. I don't understand the fixation with Nassib. This guy when put on the same stage as the other college quarterbacks in the senior bowl was clearly the worst. At best he has proven to be average. I would be shocked if he is picked before the 4th round. His mobility and decision making skills and accuracy are suspect. EJ is a better player at all aspects of the game than Nassib. Why not go EJ or Wilson early and Nassib late. He will be there. If Nassib is the guy we will easily go 15 years without a playoff run.
  9. Totally agree. Lets not forget that FJ isn't getting any younger. Bradshaw would be a perfect replacement for Choice.
  10. Best of luck to Donte, he was the hardest hitter on our defense when he left the team. As a Bills fan it seems it very important for us to hate against anyone that has a better chance than us ( which is everyone ). You go back 5 years ago and the Bills and 49ers were in a downward spiral. The 49er were intelligent enough to bring in leadership that could turn the ship around in a big way. While we follow failed leadership and hope for next year. I see no break in this pattern as long as Russ is running the show. We haven't been any good since he has been in a position of leadership, why start now. He is doing the same job, he is just marketing it differently. Stop hating on Donte because he has found success and we haven't.
  11. Another good thing about being a Bills fan is that on draft day you don't have to wait forever to know who the first pick is going to be. We usually know within the first hour.
  12. I have to agree the 90's Bills uniforms were the best. Just the right amount of red, white and blue. The red helmets were among the leagues best looking. In the pro bowl did you notice how bland the helmets looked in comparison. Too much blue and white.
  13. I think this is true test for Marrone. If Marrone feels as though Nassib is a first round pick I think it will be indicative of the type of talent evaluator he is. Nassib is no 1st or 2nd round pick. Keep in mind in the senior bowl Nassib had just as much time as the other QB's to prepare. Will Marrone get the best person to make him successful or will he be persuaded by other factors such as history and friendship. We will need to draft 2 QB's, if the Bills are interested, Nassib should be the second QB drafted. My gut tells me he will be around in round 4 or maybe 5 but clearly not in the first 2 rounds.
  14. After seeing Nassib in the Senior Bowl, he was totally unimpressive. Arguably the worst QB that was on either roster. He was very Trent Edwards-ish. I don't see him going in the first 3 rounds.
  15. I really wanted to see all of the QB's in the same setting so I could make back to back comparisons. None of the QB's really wowed me but EJ Manuel was clearly the best. He demonstrated long and short passing accuracy. The ability to feel the pressure in the pocket and react correctly. If I had to pick a second QB it would be Glennon due to the second half of the game. He was very suspect in the first half. All of the QB's seem to be throwing bounce passes JP Losman style. Tyler Wilson showed his ability to run and throw but under threw a sure touchdown. Nassib was totally unimpressive, maybe even the worse QB of the pack, in this game anyway. No one outside of Manuel and Glennon could complete a down field pass. It was like looking at a group of Trent Edwards clones. My top three are Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, and EJ Manuel with Glennon bringing up the rear. We will need to address the QB position in free agency as well as the draft. I don't know if we can draft 2 like the the redskins and get quality in both spots based on this group.
  16. Being in the DC area I just remember him too well with the Redskins. This guy is garbage...stay away. He is one of the reasons why Lovie is on the market. When the Redskins started Rex Grossman after Campbell was cut, Rex was a clear upgrade ...and Grossman is garbage.
  17. This is a big corporation going against an ambulance chaser. You have to have written approvals when selling items that involves anyone's logo if not, consult your lawyers.
  18. The game was a sleeper. The storyline of a perfect season was much better than the game itself. You can say this was a bad superbowl with a good ending.
  19. If he is serious he should try the CFL and drop 50 lbs..
  20. My only issue with a Nassib pick would be the fact that Marrone and Nassib weren't exactly burning up the college ranks as a top 20 team. But they did have success I believe with an 8-5 record with a tough non big east schedule. Not sure how this pair will translate to the NFL.
  21. As a die hard Bills fan I'm always on for the ride. Normally when you promote someone from the college ranks it because they were extremely successful. This is not the case Marrone was 25-25 in the last four years. This seems to be the epitome of mediocrity. His appointed staff seems to be the type that will learn on the job in other words inexperienced. I'm looking to see how Marrone handles the Fitzpatrick situation. If he doesn't move to replace him and feels Fitz is our guy, I will realize he is not a good evaluator of talent. The drafting Nassib would be dangerous because he is not top 3 qb and the bond may be to tight for him to be objective if he needs to be cut. As Gailey was with Martin, Thigpen and Choice. I have seen signs of cronyism with Marrone already. I wish Marrone the best. He could be the diamond in the rough or just another guy that interviews well. Time will tell.
  22. This reminds me of Chan Gailey when he assembled his coaching staff, that consisted mostly of friends with limited NFL experience. We have gone down this road before, only Gailey had more head coaching experience with a reputation of getting the most out of his players. I don't think we are initially primed for success. The question is how quickly can the new coaching staff learn on the job. How dominant will Marrone and Pettine be in coaching this team because this is where the coaching talent seems to be.
  23. Excellent point. Its hard for me to be enthused about Marrone especially when Gailey looked better on paper. However I am a die hard Bills fan. Best of Luck to Doug Marrone. Lets win the darn SB!!!
