  1. Honestly, a pretty decent deal that I wish we had kept him at. A little higher than he is probably worth, but in FA, I'm surprised he didn't get even more.
  2. A fun article from Marc Sessler at NFL.com about the Bills' successes early this season and how this year 'feels' different, and not just to us fans. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001055843/article/bills-season-should-include-playoff-trip-dallas-boasts-rising-star
  3. To me, the bigger problem is that Star can't take advantage of the one-on-one matchups he is being gifted.
  4. Anyone up for a three-way trade where we end up with Clowney and Trent Williams?
  5. There was a ton of talk trading up. Beane could have pulled the trigger, potentially giving up future 1sts or other high-value picks this year (possibly just to get the same guy), but he didn't. He managed to avoid panicking and didn't overthink the pick or trade back. Yes, it was an obvious pick, but we got great value by not overreacting and losing assets to get him.
  6. Agreed - every time he has seen extended playing time, he has filled in admirably. I don't really count the one or two plays per game where he would come in as a 6th lineman last year. I'm not opposed to taking a backup C on day 2 or 3 if someone we like falls to us, but there are many more pressing needs on both sides of the ball that should be addressed first.
  7. I was very impressed with all three phases of his game. Solid blocker and we even lined him up at WR once or twice and he made a catch. It's far too early to say, but I could see him becoming next year's Gillislee if we don't draft someone.
  8. Honestly, I'm comfortable with a pure BPA approach for the first time in quite a while. WR is the only position I think we have a major need for and would be willing to make a slight reach for. Otherwise, it is mostly depth and guys to replace our older starters. After that, in no particular order: 1-2 LB's to replace Alexander & provide depth, OG/OT with Incognito getting old, DL (primarily DT) with Kyle likely retiring or at least not being a full time starter moving forward, and a backup/future starter at RB. CB would be a smart investment I think, but McDermott has never needed to rely on premier players at that position. As much as I would love one of the top QBs, it is not worth trading up for one with how Tyrod is looking and the coaching staff apparently being fairly high on Peterman as a developmental guy/quality backup.
  9. I think this is a major, underrated aspect of our success so far this year - halftime adjustments are phenomenal. Pretty much every week, the first half we do well enough to stay in the game, but it is fairly close. I feel like the coaches have a great grasp on figuring out what our opponents are doing, and adjusting out gameplan to effectively counter it at the end of the game. Something we have not seen in years and years. Thoughts?
  10. I liked him coming out of college, but the guy couldn't even beat out Hoyer. I know its the 49ers and they make some questionable decisions, but really?
  11. He is older, but PFF had him right on the border between "Average" and "Above Average" last year. Could be a solid vet backup, but I do like how our young talent looked in preseason.
  12. Overlooked this one on my first pass... Eagles released WR Paul Turner, a former UDFA who had one big game last year with 6 catches, 80 yards. Only 24 years old. Maybe worth a PS spot.
  13. TE Larry Donnell just released by the Ravens. Had a couple OK years with the Giants, but mostly a JAG. I'd prefer sticking with developmental Logan Thomas, but we'll see what coach prefers.
  14. Rather than having tons of separate posts about the free agents we all want the Bills to sign, I figured I would get us started with a megathread for interesting players. So far, a few players that caught my eye: Owa Odighizuwa - Former Giants DE, Former 3rd round pick. Hasn't done much in the league, but the Giants have a talented and deep front 4. Young and has some talent. On a 4 game suspension for PED use to start the year. Ron Brooks - Serviceable Backup for us in prior years before signing with the Eagles. With decent CB depth showing up in preseason, probably not worth bringing back. Jah Reid - Another former 3rd rounder; OT most recently with the Chiefs. I don't know much about him, but he hasn't really stuck anywhere. Might be worth grabbing as a backup LT upgrade. Feel free to add more that you're interested in. Not many cuts yet, but I'm sure they will start coming in soon
