  1. Yeah.......in the thread you CREATED about Spencer Brown being the biggest problem with the Bills offense. By "hate" I don't mean personal hate..........I mean disdain for their performance. And I don't believe it's accurate to say that he is "unchanged" because the quality of his play has improved. But Brown is a work in progress. Like Glenn Parker........I suspect if the back injury doesn't take him down he will become a quality starting OL in the NFL for a long time. Sucks that he came in having barely played in college and having played 7 on 7 football in HS but he's got the athletic talent and temperment to be very good(for a RT) and is gradually getting better. I wouldn't be opposed to benching him if he's outplayed but sometimes you gotta' draft and develop........and not use first round picks or spend top dollar.......on non-premium positions like RT.
  2. The Pats elevated their game in the playoffs and pulled off one of the greater upsets in AFCCG history..........a big part of that was having two stud receiving threats(who played outstanding, btw) thru the playoffs. And they needed it in that track meet with the Chiefs. That Rams team they beat also had stud receivers and didn't score in that SB, btw......sometimes defense rules a certain day. Nobody is arguing that every SB has been a track meet. And no, Cole Beasley was not as good of a football player as Julian Edelman. As much as we hated him he was a great player for a few years and that was in the middle of that stretch.
  3. They caught like 17 of 19 combined targets for 220 yards in the SB win over the Rams..........absurdly good performance by a star receiver who was in the middle of 3 straight years where he was a legit WR1 and a HOF TE who is basically the same age as Travis Kelce........he wasn't some washed out player. Terrible take, dave.
  4. Oh c'mon now dave........you don't think Edelman and Gronk were stars? What we are talking about is that having two top receiving talents has been critical to teams having success deep into the playoffs. And Edelman and Gronk played like the stars that they were in that AFCCG and SB and Edelman had a buck and half himself in the divisional round. The Rams didn't have a top WR behind "slot receiver" Cooper Kupp in 2021 either...........unless you count OBJ playing up to his considerable ability in the playoffs as having a top WR2.........which I do because that's ultimately the point.
  5. Yankees Drew Thorpe earns prospect equivalent of the 2023 Cy Young award for all levels of minor league baseball https://www.mlb.com/news/yankees-drew-thorpe-earns-prospect-pitcher-of-the-year-award
  6. If I had the proverbial nickel for every time someone like you on TSW put so much effort into being wrong.........only to watch me be proven right and then never own up to their ill-found takes and pretend that they had never held a strong opinion on the subject.........well that would be a lot o' nickels PB. Just sayin'
  7. Hey I have nothing personal against Gabe Davis........he was a great value draft pick and makes an excellent 3rd option for a QB like Josh Allen. But he's limited. Not having a better WR2 option isn't his fault.......he works hard and maximizes his potential IMO............that's just on the Bills for not putting him in the best position to not end up a scapegoat.
  8. He is definitely an adequate some-system #2 WR for a non-contender. He couldn't even make the 53 man roster for teams like Miami or San Fran though because he is useless in the short passing game. He can't even use his size to catch slants because he can't catch the ball in traffic or after contact. So the people who just point to his modest stats in an offense with a top 3 QB can try to spin it all they want..........but a guy with huge holes in his game like Gabe isn't a WR2 in all systems. Yeah Kincaid is their best hope to alleviate the issue on the roster. Said if many times.........they need to get Gabe down to about 4 targets per game. And to do that they need a more reliable second option. Almost there but if Kincaid doesn't start upping his production then the better teams on the schedule will still be able to bracket Diggs and force the ball to Davis.
  9. You literally posted that Davis was on pace for 900 yards so I pointed out the relative insignificance or your projection..........I wasn't the one who started the "on pace" narrative that was you. You get that right? You stop taking your meds?
  10. That's not really true. He was blamed by some NFL talking heads for the lazy route that Whitehead exploited on the opening game INT. And his terrible drop early in the sequence of downs contributed to the desperation throw that turned into an INT versus Washington. Have you watched the games? The "to be fair" part is more like "he was dropping passes in the preseason still". The first Josh Allen pass of the preseason was a dime of a throw on a quick slant that hit the open Gabe on the hands and he butterfingered it to the ground...........he also dropped another over the middle when he was wide open. There is nothing to indicate that he's appreciably different than last season or the year before or the year before........ Great players like Diggs can sometimes be taken out of the game with double teams. Gabe doesn't have that excuse.
  11. For reference.........Gabe Davis was on pace for 1300+ yards thru 4 games last season. The issues with Gabe are the inconsistency from game to game...........the near-league-worst hands for a WR(second only to Zay Jones in drops last year)...............and the inability to run enough routes to be able to pressure defense's that can bracket Diggs out of the game. Regarding the latter..........Miami couldn't stop Diggs with a slot CB on him all game so the pressure was off Gabe. Now Gabe is back to the scene of one of his crimes.........playing Jacksonville in a super low-profile game this week.........the last time that happened he had a devastating dropped pass on the last Bills drive of the game that greatly contributed to their defeat to the then-winless Jags.
  12. Davis has been impactful in just 3 of the 7 playoff games he played in and he was a big reason for their struggles down the stretch and the Cinci loss in the playoffs. The fact that 2 of those 3 they won and the third was the 13 seconds narrow defeat only re-inforces the fact that they need that second receiving option to play well....so the defense can't just take away Diggs.......to advance. Unfortunately Gabe's brand is inconsistency. Hard to win 3-4 playoff games in a row with inconsistency.
  13. Yeah and just like we can hope that the lack of a better second receiving option doesn't stop them cold in January............. in the past there has always been the hope that the Bills highly ranked defense could bully their way to the SB and that remains a possibility as well (though their heavily invested-in defenses have been shredded in the playoffs multiple times now). Bottom line is that they are trying to buck a pretty significant trend with Davis.
  14. Kelce and Juju both finished top 25 in the NFL in yardage and caught 72 and 77 percent of the passes thrown their way, respectively. Did Mahomes elevate Juju's game? Sure, just like Big Ben elevated Juju in his 1400 yard receiving season. But Juju is capable of being elevated because he can do whatever is needed in the passing game. Josh Allen elevates Gabe Davis a lot.........but the end result is not a WR1 type option despite having a GREAT QB........because his modest athleticism and bad hands have limited his ceiling.
  15. Yeah with a QB who can buy time and make throws to parts of the field that CB's aren't even used to having to defend...........and with an OC that schemes around his limitations. Gabe's situation in Buffalo is not the usual. Guys like he and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are good fits at the right price as HR hitting 3rd options for guys like Mahomes/Rodgers/Allen. But with his struggles to contribute early on in downs I am not certain Gabe could even make the Dolphins or Niners rosters due to their extremely quick hitting attacks. He'd just be a terrible fit in a quick release passing offense.
  16. The extreme Spencer Brown hate from people like @Simon reminds me a lot of former Bills whipping boy OG/OT Glenn Parker. Very good athlete.......had some injury setbacks......took longer to develop than ideal but went on to become a very good starter for a long time and the Giants were extremely disappointed that he decided to call it quits at age 35.
  17. So you've never been a big proponent of what every team that has reached the SB for the last 6 years has done? What you are talking about used to work fine.........think early-mid 2000's Patriots. Since the 2010 rules changes just making a SB without 2 top receiving threats has become the exception.
  18. Yeah.........but then they would still have Brian Daboll as their HC. I know I've been his biggest detractor in a virtual sea of Daboll-washers........and a lot of very good posters have even taken GREAT issue with my opinion that Daboll was a hot mess waiting to happen if given a HC'ing job. But to those folks.........I told y'all so. I know some people couldn't understand.........but there are coaches out there who can look great for a stretch but then can turn around and produce results that are far less than the sum of the parts they are given. Daboll had already proven this a number of times as an OC.
  19. I don't think the numbers tell us much at all........still looks like the same guy to the eye test. My belief has been that less targets would make him more efficient.........and I could easily say the lower amount of targets and better catch % support that.........but 18 targets with 1 drop and 2 interceptions thrown his way is still enough of a mixed bag for such a small sample size.
  20. Just saying..........we might be past the point where we are acting like he is a kid and his excellence is new........he's 27 and he's in his 6th NFL season and the 4th where he is among the finest in the game. It's a message board but they offer emoji's to show appreciation instead of fishing for thumbs like you are fulfilling some penance. Just pointing out the option for you.
  21. Yeah we know. But having seen your utter despair unfold on TSW when they drafted him I know why you still feel the need to re-inforce it. It's OK.........you weren't alone........SB trophy emoji's will suffice.
  22. I'd rather they stay in contention and not be in quit mode against the Chiefs. But, that's me. I know NFL Network broadcasts from inside the stadium they play in but I think it would take A LOT of chaos to make anyone really notice the Chargers..........they are a team without a fan base.
  23. Yeah motion has to be very choreographed if you want that player to be able to hit the LOS at speed.......which, with enough tape, makes it a tell of both the likely play choice and when the ball will be snapped. I've been listening to talking heads wonder in astonishment about how you stop it and I've been surprised that none of them had even mentioned it.
  24. True. And if Daboll can still get a job after that 6 point debacle against the winless Jags..........I think a team can squint at Dorsey's job on MNF on 9/11 and consider that Reid and Mahomes also struggled there in a less hostile environment a few weeks later.........and basically put no weight on it.
  25. Oh SQUATeam...........ye of little faith........Yanks finish the season with best record in MLB over the last 5 weeks and your hopes of a Yankees losing season were dashed. Predictably.........because that's how I am sure life always goes for you. Also @4merper4mer the random bandwagon Cardinal fan got to enjoy a team that finished an abysmal 71-91...........victims of the balanced schedule after decades of feasting off of half-invested competition in the NL central. But........no more time for you losers: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yankees-clinch-winning-record-with-win-no-82-despite-disappointing-season-extend-streak-to-31-years/
