  1. Yankee yutes unfazed by Astros vaunted pitching sweep 3 game series from the defending champs in their house 6-1. Dominguez goes yard again.
  2. Once teams realized that the worst thing that can happen when targeting Edmunds was that the pass would just end up incomplete.......after he proved he had no nose for the football whatsoever.........good QB's really started to work him over. It became reminiscent to me of the days of Thomas Smith..........the tremendous 90's Bills cover CB who went from the least targeted CB in the NFL one season to being regularly attacked once teams realized there was zero chance whatsoever that he would come down with an interception. Edmunds has still never developed any ball skills........but he finally made significant strides in zone coverage last year.........but the idea that teams just wouldn't throw his way prior to that was a myth created by folks who were trying to buy time for him to hopefully develop into something better amidst the warranted concern about his deficiencies. People with the team and those shilling for the team drummed that up. Then a few lazy and/or wannabe-shill media members picked it up and it becomes a talking point.
  3. Yeah this thread only proves one thing........ @oldmanfan most likely IS a crook!
  4. As I said in the post that you responded to........the Bears clearly were hoping for the near 80 pff grade level play of Edmunds in 2022. But by exaggerating, misrepresenting, or just completely fabricating someone's argument, it's much easier to present your own position as being reasonable. Which as usual.......yours just is not. Save your stammering uh-uh-uh "he was very good..........he did improve........he was probably top five in pass defense(at some unspecified time?)" vaguery. For all you know there were perceived "intangibles" in Kirksey's game.........the bottom line is they had similar grades until last season. And the only absolute in this discussion was the grade assigned to the players, Edmunds and Kirksey. He's gone and they let him leave for a reason.........it wasn't that they couldn't afford an $18M aav player on a very long term contract. If he was a 25 year old player at a premium position with an 80 grade he would have been extended. Especially if he didn't wait until year 5 of his contract to finally elevate his game. Simple as that.
  5. I think the broader picture is that he just doesn't believe in the process that Brady, Brees and to a similar extent Rodgers have adhered to in terms of diet and training. Guessing how much he works out is too subjective. The path he is taking is, perhaps not coincidentally, the easiest. Whether it is/was the best for his career........like I said, his success and longevity with be the proof.
  6. Big Ben won his second and last SB in his age 27 season..........so Josh is not on that trajectory........but yeah I would take 2 SB wins. Point being.........there are a lot of recent precedents that favor a different approach than what Josh is doing.
  7. It's a "nothing burger" until it stops working for him. I agree that in the short term taking a break off can help. Anybody who has been active in sports well into adulthood should know that. But there is a difference between 5 weeks and 5 months as well. Ultimately the proof will be in the results combined with the longevity. Josh is following the Ben Roethlisberger offseason regimen............and his reasoning was the same as Josh's is now. Big Ben hit the wall at 36 and ended his career a liability at QB and a huge cap burden for several seasons. By contrast Brady, Rodgers and Brees.........who all follow the "guys who train a lot get hurt a lot" approach more than the "can't tear fat" approach that Josh is advocating.......were still playing at a high level for much longer and didn't burden their franchise with poor results for the money on their way out. The thing that Allen has working against him that Big Ben did not is that the league is loaded with quality young QB's now and the college pipeline appears to be pretty decent. It's not likely to be as easy to remain one of the elite for as long as it was for Big Ben.
  8. Yeah, true. I am sure Nate Hackett worked has azzoff to be a great HC in Denver too. I am probably something of a Dorsey apologist to this point myself........having made liberal note last season of the fact that a 1st year OC hasn't won a SB since the 1980's. But let's be clear what this thread is about..........@eball is just ALWAYS looking for an angle to insult the Bills fan base for their "relative-results-based" analysis of players/coaches. His takes were always bad but ever since he quit on his season tickets in frustration with the Pegula's when the Bills hired McDermott he's been on a mission to make up for his lack of unconditional support by attacking the average Bills fan........apparently to make up for his betrayal.
  9. I think the truth wrt Allen's work ethic and willingness and desire to do WHATEVER it takes to get better..........and whether what he thinks is best is even close to right........are things that we just don't have any clear answer about just yet. So I don't find your highlighted argument particularly compelling either way. Because you do realize that some great athletes can eat terribly and not workout much at all and be dominant on the field/court with what looks like a sloppy build........outperforming and recovering from injury faster than some workout warriors. When they are young. That field narrows significantly once they pass their physical peak around age 26. I suspect that's why Marcell Dareus dropped off so fast..........he went from All Pro all-around superstar DT.....to still a one man rush defense.....to out of the league pretty quickly after he hit that peak. I doubt he worked any differently when he was at the top of his game than when he was crapping out.
  10. Kirksey's passer rating against was better than Tremaine Edmund's in both 2020 and 2021 though..........and that 90 rating last year was also notably better than Tremaine in 2020-2021. Point being that last year was an outlier for Edmunds......but not the Bills defense. The Bills defense was still good in 2020 and 2021 when Edmunds passer rating against was well over 100 in those seasons.
  11. @Irv is not going to like this
  12. I was skeptical of Shedeur. I saw him last year and wasn't sold. But he is legit. Deion threw like a girl when he was a baseball player.........like one of the worst arms in all of baseball.
  13. 45-42 Colorado over #17 TCU. Shedeur Sanders 37-46 with 510 yards and 4 TD. He and Travis Hunter both had Heisman candidacy kickoff days for Colorado.
  14. Who started the 5 different Jason Whitlock threads? The answer is 5 different triggered homers. Just like YOU started this thread. Just like @eball started a thread about Gabe Davis a couple of days ago to create a straw man argument about Davis not being captain material. The doddering douchebags of unobjectivity will go out of their way to create entire threads about negativity to complain about.
  15. Shadeur Sanders is going to throw for about 500 yards today against #17 TCU...........he's been awesome...........and he's not the best player on the field. That's Travis Hunter..........eating up TCU as a WR and had a great interception in the end zone........played way over 100 snaps..............#1 recruit in nation in 2022 and a tremendous 2-way player.
  16. I think the fan haters like @oldmanfanare just showing their anxiety about the upcoming season with these contrived takes..............there is by no means an abundance of negativity from the fans about the team. They are getting less love from the national media and when that gets discussed and when there isn't universal outrage about that on TSW the doddering douchebags for whom national public opinion matters interpret that as "negativism". The reality is that the Bills are the second favorite in the AFC by the largely objective betting public. And favored to win on the road against the hyped Jets. Plenty of positivity about the team going into the season..........at least as much as the Chiefs or Eagles had going into last season.
  17. I think you don't understand the difference between being laughed AT and laughed WITH. My responses and call outs to you are strictly intended to be rhetorical. Because you've shown no ability to adapt........you follow the same mixology for being wrong. Blind homerism + a stubborn and willful ignorance of the game + day drinking = an @eball highball. Though in reality you have betrayed your fandom for real...........the proof being quitting your season tickets out of frustration with the organization when Sean McDermott was hired. It's true that there are a lot of us who offer constructive criticism of the team into the discussion............what you did there is "destructive" criticism of the team by removing that unconditional financial support out of spite..........but I thank you for the content it provides when calling out your hypocrisy.
  18. Someone should start a thread to complain about the "blither idiots of fan negativism" who start threads like this one. I enjoyed the contrived argument that the same people who complained about Edmunds are also the one's blaming Beane for not re-signing him............that was a really out-of-the-box take.
  19. Yeah sometimes the mistake is just a QB checking down a pass to a RB over the middle but putting it in a spot where they have to stop completely or reach back or over-extend.........and there were plays practically every game where this happened right in front of Edmunds.........and rather than take advantage of this already neutralized target by going for the ball Edmunds would just hug tackle them and allow the short gain. It's astounding that a guy with his reach hasn't forced a single fumble in the regular season since very early in the 2018........70 games played since the last.
  20. While I roll my eyes at Beane's relative fascination with RB's...........the 2022 Bills did lead the entire NFL in yards per rush (5.2) and yards per rush by RB's (4.9) so I think Hines didn't come off the pine mostly because they got excellent RB production aside from very close to the goal line. (Which they have since addressed with 2 RB's in Harris and Murray who are uncanny at scoring from inside the 3)
  21. Even the most skeptical of Davis' critics would have to agree that he should have a career year regardless of whether Kincaid breaks out like we hope or not. Because Gabe only just became a starter for the first time last season.........and I'm not sure he can do worse than 10% drops and only 50% catches.
  22. The Martian takes Verlander yard on first career swing. Youngest Yankee to hit first career HR in first MLB at bat and 5th youngest player in AL/NL history. https://www.mlb.com/news/jasson-dominguez-first-mlb-homer-vs-justin-verlander#:~:text=He's also the youngest Yankee, youngest in AL%2FNL history.
  23. Yeah @JakeFrommStateFarm.............c'mon dude...........you are here all the time you haven't seen all of these graphics about Davis' extreme variance between his strengths and weaknesses? The Bills had an excellent short passing game in 2020 when Cole Beasley was the clear cut WR2 and an All Pro as a slot receiver........and they had a good short game in 2021 despite Beasley's drop-off. And even then Davis was just a 56% catch guy over those two seasons. His efficiency dropped more in 2022 because he moved up the pecking order and it's hard to find 6 good targets per game for him with his limitations.
  24. In fairness....... @Success said "quite"(quiet I believe he meant) "a few" of his critics. Gabe could rise to 150th in catch % and still have a passer rating that's way below Josh Allen's average(like a 90) with only 8% drops and still be largely the same player.........but those would all be improvements.........so that might quiet "a few" critics even if he just keeps looking like he has pretty much since his rookie season and doesn't have that break-out season. Success would have to be more specific about what he expects..........he's left it exceptionally vague intentionally, I believe.
  25. Because @eball has a terrible track record of brutally bad takes stretching from the drought to today............so in an attempt to offset that he creates totally false narratives so that he can shout them down and look like a voice of reason. That's @eball as a straw man. It's just another version of a bad take by him but it fools those who think that someone has actually been banging the drum against the idea that Gabe Davis liked by his teammates.
